As per usual, I am making last minute decisions with no plan or preparation. The moment the Christmas tree goes up and December 1st arrives, an unreasonable bought of inspiration takes control. So I’m taking part in this year’s Drawcember with a prompt list i found on this website (it’s the first one on the list). I might bring in my hyper fixations and make some drawings into fanart for Good Omens, Doctor Who and such like. Maybe I’ll even introduce some if my OCs if I feel confident enough. As I said, I haven’t planned so I’ll just wing it :)

Now I’m going to scurry away and draw for the first day of this challenge which I’ll post later this evening (hopefully)

I went to a pottery painting café with my sister a couple of weeks ago, it was super fun.

I made my bowl a day & night theme with the a cloudy moon and dark sky on the inside and fields under a clear blue sky around the outside.

I just got it back in the post and I think it looks so awesome. It’s cool to see how much the colours changed after being fired and glazed.

The place was called Sticky Earth Café on the coast of Cromer and all the staff were lovely 🫶

I’m back with more drawings of marine life! This colourful Hawaiian fish is commonly known as a ‘reef triggerfish’ but actually holds the title (literally) for the fish with the longest name!

I think they’re really cool little guys, they’re really territorial (and rather grumpy) and they have big teeth to bite chunks out of rocks which they spit out as sand after eating the algae and minerals.

This fish’s name literally translates to “fish with a snout like a pig’s” and it’s the national fish of Hawaii.

Another fun fact is that it has a double spine (one on its back and one on its belly) so it can flatten itself to squeeze into cracks in rocks.

I made some more silly little creatures!! I drew a couple of otters this time, two different species because I love all of them so much x

I got bored on the bus ride home so I drew some sharks :p I actually love them so much they’re such cuties!!

Inktober 2024 day eight: Hike

HOW ARE ‘TREK’ AND ‘HIKE’ NOT THE SAME PROMPT?! I ALREADY DID THIS ONE! AND THEN THERE’S ROAM AND EXPEDITION AS WELL?!

I tried to differentiate the two by making this one a ‘scout hike’ (because that’s what I personally associate the word with) and ‘trek’ more of a family/friendly thing (hence the dog I added).

Fun fact: the blue and navy neckers they’re wearing are the same as my own scout group that I grew up with!

Inktober 2024 day seven: Passport

I think I managed to capture the sheer misery of going through an airport to get back home.

I muted all of my colours as much as possible and solely used shades of grey for the background. I focused a bit on the perspective and used a very different angle than I am used to, it was absolute hell to make but I think it came out well in the end :)

Inktober 2024 day six: Trek

And yet again, I forgot to take a photo of it inked 🥲

I love this one, it’s fairly simple but I think it’s really sweet <3

This time, I painted the background before the characters and then I ended up liking how it looked leaving them blank. I added a little bit more detail to them to make it look more on-purpose (but they’re so teensie they didn’t need much)

Inktober 2024 day five: Binoculars

I was this 🤏 close to just giving up on this whole thing today. I was really burnt out yesterday so I didn’t make day four, and I nearly skipped today too. However I managed to encourage myself enough to just get up and do it, I knew that if I didn’t I wouldn’t get back into it again.

I’m glad I did keep going, not only because it means I still have a chance at this challenge but also because: pirate lady pretty 😳 (swoons and faints)

Inktober 2024 day three: Boots

I love how this one turned out! It definitely went through an ugly stage for a bit but I pushed through it and I’m really glad I did. For a full body drawing (which I always hate doing) I think it’s pretty good.

I decided to colour it with biro, along with my usual method of drawing the outline, it made the colours pop a bit more and keep with the punk-look. It also makes it more ‘inky’ for inktober :P

Inktober 2024 day 2: Discover

AAAAHHHH I FORGOT TO TAKE A PHOTO OF IT INKED

On a more positive note, I managed to make it to day two! I’m feeling hopeful that I’ll stay on top of it this month!

I’ll admit that the painting was a bit messy and rushed, just pretend that the brown smear on her face is on purpose (let’s call it mud). And maybe we can ignore her hair completely :l

Inktober 2024 day one: Backpack

This is my first inktober, I’m fairly sure I’ll have lost my will to live by the end of the month (or the week, who knows) but I’m doing it anyway.

To be honest, I was quite miffed with this year’s prompts when I first saw them but now that I’ve started they don’t seem too bad.

Hopefully I’ll continue with the challenge, I think actually posting the art will give me a reason to keep going with it. We’ll see as the month goes on…

I should probably post something here so have a doodle dump (of varying age and quality..)

I may be just a tad obsessed over a few certain shows *cough* Good Omens and Doctor Who *cough* so most of my art is about them, but I might be generous and throw in the odd BBC ghosts, ofmd, supernatural, or sherlock - as soon as I figure out how to draw them :p
