@starchart-victorie
Dr. Fourier, I have some concerns.
Pryce and Carter Tip 700 has some... warnings, of a sort, about fraternization between crew members. Now, I don't want to exactly discourage you from engaging, as Tip 628 calls us to "know [each other] well", but I do think that your investment in Dr. Hui is impeding your ability to properly do your job.
My relationship with Hui is not impeding on my ability to do my job, and I'm offended you would even think that. Just because he and I are personally close doesn't immediately mean that we can't work together professionally. Your arguments with captain Lovelace are much more of a distraction than Kuan is to me.
[Fourier is on the observation deck, lost in thought. One of her books floats beside her, abandoned.]
Dr. Fourier? I have a question, if it's not too much trouble.
"Oh, officer Lambert."
[She looks over at Lambert.]
"What's your question?"
What do you think about our mission? The stated one; to find proof of extraterrestrial life. Do you think it's a waste of time?
"No?"
[Her voice raises, like she's not completely sure of her answer.]
"It's an important... thing that we are doing here. I don't think any reaserch could be a waste of time."
[Her words are a bit more steady this time, with the exception of a pause.]
"Do you think it's a waste of time?"
No. No! Of course not. I just...
I was wondering, since you all seem to think that the D.S.A.L.S. are. A waste of time, that is. I know I'm the only one who believes they're worth doing, but I think they're really important, and I'd like it if... maybe someone else did too.
I don't know. I'm sorry for bothering you.
"It was nice to talk. It wasn't like you interrupted my work or anything."
[Her tone was friendly, but still held onto professionalism. The book next to her drifts into her side, reminding her of its presence. She grabs it, stopping its movement.]
"If you're really uncertain, you could ask Rhea what she thinks?"
[Fourier is on the observation deck, lost in thought. One of her books floats beside her, abandoned.]
