#their reactions kill me #and always will #scotty is standing there#tears painting his cheeks #but otherwise motionless because he knows what’s going to happen #that he won’t be able to bend the laws of physics or the universe for jim this time to save him #and you can see it killing him because he wants nothing more than to do that #and oh god uhura’s reaction is so emotional in a completely different way #she reacts with her whole body #because in this moment words fail her here #so she shows her utter dismay and grief through her movements #through her tears #and you can’t tell me that jim didn’t look away from spock for a split moment to see those two standing there #and you can’t tell me that jim’s heart didn’t fill with warmth as he realized he was loved so very loved #and that his death was worth it #because they were alive and breathing because of what he did #he hates that he’s made them grieve over him #but he knows in his dying moments #that they will pull through it together #as a family #and he will smile fondly from whatever adventure comes next (via)
