The cafe around her was nearly empty and as she was settled in the back of the restaurant, she found herself not caring.

Severus bit his lip, eyes finding herâs and letting the warmth they brought draw him in ever so slightly. He chuckled, falling back into reality, âI suppose you could call it that, yeah.â He was finding himself enjoying the conversation, the company, and he began to blush gently at the thought of them spending time together on a regular basis. But his eyes flicked back to herâs and the brief pause was broken by a sigh, âItâs not much of a career, and itâs more complicated than a hobby, so I donât really know if Iâll keep doing it.â
Ella giggled lightly as he admitted to the work. Nodding in understanding as he explained the complexity behind what he loved. âThat is understandable.â she said, thinking to her motherâs business. âMy mother is a broomsmith. Ever since she has been in the hospital I have been running the day-to-day operations.â Nibbling on her bottom lip, she gave him a smile. âI think you should keep doing it. Do what you love.â
severus-sncpe:
Severus hadnât noticed his smile, but it was spread from ear to ear apparently, and it was only at her last question that he chuckled, âUnfortunately my life isnât exciting enough for such a thing to happen.â He shook his head, biting his lip slightly, âI get asked to brew things on occasion, and someone wanted it done. But, I also just am trying to perfect everything I already know. Most of the potions we were learning at school werenât taught properly, and so I must teach myself.â
Ella cocked her head to the side. âI have yet to find someone with such an exciting life.â Sipping at the drink between her hands, she nodded in fascination. âThen you must be very skilled, for someone to request such a difficult potion from you.â Mulling the thought over, she chewed on her bottom lip. âI always felt that the potions we made were never quite... there.â she said, a little amazed that someone else had such drive towards perfection. âIs that what you are doing now-a-days?â she asked stirring the chocolate milk with an idle hand. âFreelance potion making?â
severus-sncpe:
Severus nodded, âPotions and the Dark Arts were definitely my favourites. Thereâs just so much to learn and explore, I really enjoy it.â He raised a brow at her as she spoke, interest sparking in his eyes, âSo, you know all about Wiggenweld then? And how the flobberworm mucus reacts with the salamander blood? Iâm quite intrigued by the whole process, Iâve just made a batch at home actually. Stuff doesnât smell great, but it works a treat.â Severus stopped, realising heâd rambled, and a red blush hit his cheeks. He never talked about his passions, especially not with girls (other than Lily of course, back in school).Â
Ella found herself nodding as Snape spoke. His words mirrored her thoughts, she had always found potions fascinating. Following his string of words, Ella found herself nodding, a smile splitting her face as she laughed lightly. âYes, Yes!â she said, her eyes ablaze with interest. âI have also been experimenting with unicorn horn, octopus powder and wolfsbane in the potion. It has more of a... restorative effect. It not only wakes them but it also restores some of their health.â Ticking the ingredients off as she spoke, Ella gave him a broad smile. âYou keep a batch at home? Just in case someone you know gets infected with the Draught of the Living Dead?â she asked, smiling in a good-natured way.
severus-sncpe:
Severus shrugged absently, although was mindful of keeping himself from turning back into the lanky boy he was around girls. âJust a project Iâm working on, itâs been a bit of a hard one. But, looks like itâs coming together now.â He raised a brow at her, waiting until her question to nod, âThatâs really interesting, and cool. Yeah, potions was⊠Well is kind of my thing, I suppose. I enjoy it, though I donât use them as often as in school. But, yeah, itâs one of my passions you could say.â Severus wasnât sure how long heâd kept eye contact with her, but once he fell silent they dropped to his cup, looking at the dark liquid as he licked his lips, glancing back up to her occasionally.
Ella was delighted that she had found another person who buried them self in work, just like her. âThe harder it is, the more rewarding it tends to be.â she said, smiling. Sipping on the sweet, hot chocolate, Ella gave him her direct attention as he spoke. âWas it one of your favorite classes back at school?â she asked, tilting her head as she asked the question. âI actually am using the magical creature ingredients to see how they effect medical potions. You could say that is my passion.â
starcrossed-ella:
Settling down at the table, Ella sighed. At least the day wasnât completely ruined! Here she was, having coffee with a nice gentleman she had met only a few moments ago. Plus he had complimented her, which was nice. âYes, I had to pick up groceries and some potion ingredients. On the worst day for it, really.â Ella gave him a smile and ordered herself a hot chocolate when the waitress came by. âWhat about yourself? Running errands? Enjoying the wonderful weather?â
Severus nodded, ordering him a flat white and turning back to Ella, shrugging absently, âPerhaps not the weather, but enjoying a walk. Iâve been locked up in my house for the past week, so needed to get out, despite the obvious bad luck I have.â He chuckled, feeling comfortable for a moment and nodding once more, âWas actually going to maybe collect some more ingredients for my own potion, but thinking I might give it a break for today,â He smiled gently as he met her eyes, biting his lips slightly, âAre you interested in potions?â
Ella could help the smile on her face. It was, after all, a very beautiful area-Ella understood the urge to wander it. "Locked up for the week? Why is that?" Ella wasn't a stranger to staying at home for her work, but it was her understanding that not everyone did it. "I have been working with some magical creatures to see how their... materials affect them." Ella cradled her hot chocolate in her hands and smiled. "I take it you have been working on some potions too?"
severus-sncpe:
Severus looked over to where she pointed and nodded, âLooks good.â He smiled at the waitress as they sat, his eyes not being able to meet herâs straight away. He bit his lip briefly, glancing up to look at her, and then out at the rain, taking a moment to breathe before speaking, âWhat brings you out into the rain today? Shopping?â He montioned slightly at the bags.

âThatâs a beautiful name,â Severus said lowly, almost immediately wanting to sew his mouth shut. Confidence didnât suit him he decided. An odd gesture to a door with a warm glow behind it, luckily the path was protected by the awning, and Severus took a few steps toward it, opening it wide to allow Ella in.Â
Ella felt a blush travel up her neck. Giving him a sweet smile, she giggled lightly. âWell thank you...â Following his gesture, Ella trotted along under the awning after him. As he opened the door for him, she thanked him and stepped into the noticeably warmer cafe. Noting an empty table tucked against the back wall with a view of the rain, Ella pointed it out. âIs there okay?â
severus-sncpe:
Severus kept his eyes forward as she spoke, glancing to her as her clothes dried. He straightened, trying not to hunch over as he sighed, âWould you care for a hot drink, than?â The coffee was welcoming, and he gave an awkward smile to the woman before him, quickly shaking his head, âSorry, I should probably introduce myself before inviting you to join me. Iâm Severus.â
Thinking that a hot drink would be perfectly in order, Ella nodded. âA hot drink would be quite welcome right about now.â Smiling as he introduced himself, Ella nodded. âMy name is Ella, itâs a pleasure to meet you.â Giving him a bright smile, she reached down to grab her bags. âWhere shall we get that coffee you spoke of?â
severus-sncpe:
Severus raised a brow as someone spoke, looking down to a pretty young woman. He nodded, his cheeks going a little pink at the unexpected meeting. âNo woman either by the looks of it.â He tried a chuckle, which came put a little tougher and put his hands in his pockets.
Ella couldnât help the giggle that slipped between her lips. âYou are correct about that.â Looking out as the rain seemed to pour down harder she sighed lightly. âWell now we will have to wait.â Setting her bags down at her feet, she pulled out her wand and dried out her clothing. âThis will probably go on for a while as well...â
severus-sncpe:
After a week of being crammed in his kitchen, Severus was in dire need of a walk. It was a nice day, or as nice as England was this time of year, and he sighed as the clouds rolled over him, threatening to bring rain once more. There was a spit of water, and he started heading for cover, groaning a little as it began to pour down. To noone in particular, he frowned,
âI was enjoying my walkâŠâ
Taking a deep breath of the heavy midsummer air, Ella felt the storm coming. Not only had the sun been covered, but the air had grown humid. Just a few more blocks... she thought, grasping the grocery bags closer to her chest. Maybe she would make it! The thought was interrupted by a trickle of rain that fell around her, picking up speed as the downpour split the sky. Looking around, she darted off into a small shop alcove. There was someone already standing there. âPer usual, the weather waits for no man.â Shooting the tall man a smile, she turned and looked out to the rain.Â
xenosilius:
âWhat do you mean youâve never heard of a crumple-horned snorkack? Didnât you read my last article?â Xenophilius looked expectantly wide-eyed at the person before reaching into his back pocket and whipping out his own copy of The Quibbler, âI carry one for such emergencies as these, here you go, page nine.â
Ella blinked in confusion. The man was muttering something about a crumple-horned something or another and she was lost. Taking the proffered magazine, she opened to page 9, skimmed the article and looked up at him. âAnd you have... seen one of these things...â

Long gone were the days where he didnât have to worry about there being children just in the other room, and it was times like this where the stark reminder hit him. âI think I agree, cherie.â he muttered. âIâll have to see when my mother can take the boys, and hopefully it will be sooner rather than laterâŠâ
Rabastan was completely on board at this point and the thought of them taking a trip together after so long was thrilling. Bouncing lightly in her excitement, she hugged his tight and planted kisses all along his neck. âHopefully.â Giving him a sweet smile, she stood up and bounded off into the kitchen as the boys started fussing.

Dahlia eyed the cup with distrust, but accepted it after a second of consideration. She tasted it, wrinkling her face after the taste. âSharp and bitter. Iâm not much of an alcohol expert, but maybe it is giggle water. Iâve never tried one.â
Watching Dahlia take a sip, Ella nodded in agreement. âGiggle water is a pleasant drink. I smelled what James and Sirius were drinking and I swear it burned my nose hairs.â Giving her a companionable smile, Ella finished off her drink.

âWhat we want isnât always something that we can get, Cherie. Believe me, Iâve learned that one very well over recent years.â He muttered, his arm tightening around her waist as he leaned in to gently nip at her shoulder with his teeth. âPerhaps a week is too long to go away then⊠But I still think it would be a good idea to take even a few days instead. It would be good for us and the boys.
Ella rolled her eyes lightly, his words were familiar ones. Letting him pull her close, she reveled in the feeling of his arms around her. Shuddering as his teeth grazed her shoulder, she gave him a heated look-she was glad he was playing along. Purring in his ear lightly, she pressed herself along his length. âI think a vacation would be exactly what we need.â
What exactly is in this?
dahlia-cornelia-selwyn:
âFirewhiskey? No?â
âI believe I would recognize Firewhiskey.â Ella looked the drink over and sampled it again. âGiggle water maybe? There is something else too...â Ella pursed her lips. âWould you like to try some?â She offered the cup to Dahlia.
What exactly is in this?
I canât really taste anything except... fire.
