Can DID manifest in adulthood? I thought DID mainly showed up early childhood but I think something of that nature might be happening to me and I’m 24.
that's a difficult question to answer.
simply put: yes, it can happen. to explain further, DID is a covert disorder that the person is not supposed to be aware of in 90% of cases. (leaving the 10% for the ones who do happen to be overt, which are every bit as valid.) in many cases, DID begins in childhood but is hidden until adulthood. to only be discovering the disorder now, or to only be seeing the disruptions now, is extremely common. especially if you have recently moved away from an abusive household or other distressing event.
i would heavily suggest looking into therapy if possible, and doing as much research as you can if you cannot access it.
Hi, a character I liked that Had DID canonically was done really poorly by the author, I want to re-write them so it's more respectfull and accurate to the system experience, what do you recommend?
i've already said something on this.
(touches the ground) something bunny happened here...
advice from oreo: sometimes it is hard to see things when you are being an egg so you must become tall ☝️
