Currently I am on team "if a tarot card just totally doesn't make any sense in the context of a larger spread, you can treat that position in the spread as void and just ignore it for the reading."

I have seen people say that all cards can be interpreted in a spread if you're a good enough reader, or maybe will reveal themselves in the future, or that the reader will magically always be able to read any spread they draw if they just try hard enough. Which I used to be on board with.

Now I am sailing on a new ship, and that ship is called, it's probably pretty reasonable to expect that poorly designed spreads and poorly designed questions, along with personal circumstance and "question fatigue," can result in readings where some cards literally do not hold information relevant to the spread, and should be discarded instead of being shoehorned in, or worse discarding the entire spread because 1 card isn't reading. And maybe there are things you can try to do with these 'null' cards, but by and large perhaps it's best to not sweat it if they pop up.

I admit it's a strange name for a ship, but it gets me where I'm going.
