ABIENCE ⋆⭒˚.⋆ — rhysand
(n.) the strong urge to avoid someone or something
soft!dark!rhysand x fem!highfae!reader
You have spent your entire life knowing that one day, you might belong to Rhysand.
cw: mdni, dark(ish) themes, possessive/obsessive behaviour, big fat power imbalance, arranged marriage kinda trope, reader is terrified of rhys, feyre and him aren't mates in this story, problematic themes overall
a/n: writing rhys is so fun
You had been promised to Rhysand long before you understood what marriage even meant.
It was one of those facts that simply existed. Like the Sidra. Like starlight. Like the mountains surrounding Velaris.
Something decided by adults in rooms you were never permitted to enter and discussed over wine while children played elsewhere.
Your father had been one of the Night Court's most trusted courtiers. One of the few males Rhysand's father had genuinely respected.
The agreement had been reached when you were barely old enough to speak in complete sentences.
If Rhysand did not find his mate by the time you came of age, if fate did not intervene with its unpredictable hand, then you would marry.
It wasn't uncommon. It was the sort of arrangement noble families made every day.
Only there was one small problem.
You were completely and utterly terrified of Rhysand.
The first time you remembered meeting him, you had been perhaps sixteen, young enough to still hide behind your father whenever unfamiliar people addressed you.
Rhysand had already been well over a century old. Already taller than most males in the room. Already powerful enough that people unconsciously moved aside when he entered. Already carrying himself like someone destined to rule.
You remembered peeking around your father's shoulder, and seeing violet eyes settle on you.
Gods.
You had nearly died, not literally. But your heart had certainly attempted to flee your body.
Rhysand had smiled at you, a slow curve of his lips that was equal parts amusement and something else entirely, something you were far too young and far too sheltered to identify. And you had immediately hidden again.
The sound of his laughter had followed you all evening.
From that moment onward, you had spent most of your life avoiding him at all cost.
When he returned from training in the Illyrian mountains, you disappeared. When he attended court functions, you developed sudden illnesses. When your father informed you that Rhysand wished to spend time with you, you found increasingly ridiculous excuses.
Once, you had claimed you needed to reorganize your books, all three hundred of them, alphabetically, by color, and then by height. Another time, you insisted that a particular flowerpot in the garden required your immediate and undivided attention, as it had been looking "rather sad" lately.
Your father had nearly laughed himself sick.
Rhysand, unfortunately, had only smiled.
"You know," he'd said conversationally while watching you attempt to disappear behind a particularly decorative shrub, "I'm beginning to think she's avoiding me."
You had nearly tripped over your own feet.
Your father had sighed into his wine. "You frighten her."
Rhysand's gaze had remained exactly where you stood frozen.
"I know."
Nothing more, just that quiet, god-forsaken certainty he'd always possessed.
It only made everything worse.
He never chased you. Never cornered you. Never insisted you stay. He simply watched you flee with the endless patience of someone entirely unconcerned by the distance between you.
Like he had all the time in the world. Perhaps he did.
You certainly didn't. You couldn't help it.
He was overwhelming, even then. Before becoming High Lord. Before the reputation of being the most powerful male in Prythian.
He had possessed a presence unlike anyone else.
And whenever those impossible violet eyes settled on you, it felt as though he saw entirely too much.
So you hid. And he watched. Patiently, always patiently, because he had never been anything else when it came to you.
Years passed. Then decades. Then centuries.
Your father died. Soon after the tragedy that took both his sister and mother, Rhysand's father followed.
And suddenly the terrifying heir became High Lord.
The entire Night Court shifted beneath his command. Cassian became General. Azriel became Spymaster. Amren became his second-in-command. Mor his third-in-command.
The Inner Circle slowly took shape around him. They were warriors, leaders, survivors, bound together by blood, battle, and an unshakeable devotion to their High Lord.
They had fought in wars long before you were born, had bled and killed and nearly died for the court they loved.
And somehow, there was you.
You had no idea what your place among them was supposed to be.
You couldn't fight, couldn't spy, couldn't command armies. Had never even stepped foot on a battlefield. While they carried centuries of scars, your life had remained sheltered, peaceful and safe. You often felt like an accidental addition to a group you had no business belonging to.
Still, when Rhysand informed you that you too would be moving into the Town House, you weren't exactly surprised.
But disappointed. Hopeful, perhaps, because some foolish part of you had whispered that maybe, just maybe, the arrangement would die alongside your fathers. That Rhysand would become too busy, too occupied ruling an entire court, too distracted by the weight of his new responsibilities to remember an agreement made centuries ago.
You had been wrong.
Instead, your belongings were packed. Your room prepared. Before you knew it, you found yourself living beneath the same roof as the most powerful male in Prythian.
And your future remained exactly where it had always been; tied to Rhysand. The subject unspoken of, but always present. Neither of you discussed it. You certainly weren't brave enough to. And Rhysand…Rhysand never seemed interested in forcing the conversation.
Which, somehow, was even more unnerving. It was as though he had already decided the ending and was merely waiting for the story to catch up to his expectations.
You spent years navigating around him, around all of them. Growing closer to the Inner Circle while never quite feeling like one of them.
Mor dragged you shopping until your feet ached and your stomach hurt from laughing. Cassian annoyed you relentlessly and somehow made you feel more like a younger sister than an outsider. Azriel appeared silently whenever you needed help. Even Amren grew strangely fond of you, though she would sooner drink spoiled blood than admit it aloud.
You loved them, truly.
But there was always a distance, an invisible line. Because they belonged to one another in a way you never quite did.
Then Amarantha came. And when Rhysand was trapped Under the Mountain, the world changed in ways you couldn't fully comprehend.
For fifty years he was gone.
The strangest thing about those years was discovering how much space he'd occupied in your life.
Because suddenly he wasn't there. No deep laughter drifting through the Town House late at night. No familiar feeling of awareness prickling over your skin whenever he happened to look your way.
Nothing.
And somehow his absence felt larger than his presence had.
You hated admitting that. Especially to yourself.
You had expected to feel relief. Instead, you found yourself pausing whenever anyone mentioned Under the Mountain. Listening a little too carefully whenever the others talked of Amarantha.
Sometimes, standing on the balcony of the Town House long after everyone else had gone to sleep, you caught yourself staring toward the horizon, wondering whether someone like Rhysand could truly be broken.
Whether anything in the world was capable of dimming a force that had always seemed…inevitable.
The answer, it seemed, was yes. Though not entirely.
During those decades, life continued in Velaris. It had to. The city endured, and the Inner Circle protected Velaris with fierce determination, ensuring that Amarantha's corruption never touched the hidden sanctuary Rhysand had so carefully build.
The Town House remained full. Just…quieter. Even Cassian laughed a little less.
For the first time in your life, the future felt strangely unwritten. There was no Rhysand quietly existing at the edge of every decision, no overwhelming presence unconsciously shaping the rhythm of your days.
And somewhere during those fifty years, you began building something that belonged solely to you.
Your own friends. Your own routines. Your own apartment.
The apartment had been a battle. Not a dramatic one. There hadn't been any shouting or arguments. Just subtle resistance, the kind Rhysand's family excelled at, the kind that wore you down through sheer persistence, until surrender seemed easier than insisting otherwise.
Cassian had argued that you would be safer at the Town House, that being alone made you vulnerable. Mor had worried that you would become isolated. Azriel had said nothing, but you had felt the weight of his disapproving silence like a physical presence.
Amren, surprisingly, was the one who sided with you. "Let her go," she had said, her voice flat and disinterested. "She's not a child. If she wants to live alone, she should be allowed to."
Eventually, they relented.
You got your apartment. Under the compromise that you would stay at the Town House at least twice a week, a promise you gradually became worse and worse at keeping.
Because your apartment represented freedom. Limited freedom, certainly, but freedom nonetheless. It was a space that belonged entirely to you, filled with books you had chosen, plants you liked and paintings you had admired.
You built a life entirely separate from Rhysand. Or as separate as it could truly be.
Cassian still dropped by unexpectedly under increasingly transparent excuses. Azriel's shadows somehow always seemed to know when you walked home alone. Mor continued dragging you to Rita's whenever she decided you'd spent too many evenings hiding with a book.
You loved them for it. Even if it occasionally felt suspiciously coordinated.
Sometimes at Rita's, you watched Mor flirt openly with strangers. Watched her laugh, choose whichever male caught her interest that evening, and leave with him without a backward glance. Watched her return the following day like nothing had happened, no explanations required, no apologies offered.
You wondered what that kind of freedom felt like.
What it might be like to someday find your person. Not a future husband selected by men long gone. Not the High Lord. Not something arranged through politics.
Someone yours. Someone who chose you. Someone you chose back.
You held onto that dream stubbornly.
Even when Cassian scared away half the males who approached you. Even when Azriel's learned the identities of every male who expressed interest.
Even when part of you suspected Rhysand would never truly allow another male near you.
Not even from beneath a mountain.
You still hoped.
Because fifty years was a very long time. Long enough, you told yourself, for promises to fade. Long enough for old arrangements to lose their meaning.
Long enough to believe that perhaps, when Rhysand finally returned—if he returned—everything would be different.
Then fifty years ended. And the world changed. Without your knowledge, without your permission, without warning.
You were finishing dinner with your friends when Rhysand returned, a mundane moment interrupted by the sudden, inexplicable certainty that something had shifted in the Night Court.
You felt something deep beneath your ribs tighten so suddenly it stole the air from your lungs, though you could not have named it then as anything more than unease, a strange, inexplicable wrongness threading through your thoughts like a hand brushing over the back of your neck.
Rhysand had returned.
The entire Inner Circle was gathered at the Town House when it happened.
Everyone, except you.
You wouldn't learn exactly how furious he had been until later, how he had appeared in the Town House, exhausted and damaged and barely holding himself together. How he had embraced his family, his warriors, his closest confidants. How he had looked around the room, noting each familiar face, his expression growing darker with every moment that passed. How he asked one question.
"Where is she?"
No one dared to answer.
You were not there.
Which, to Rhysand, became the only answer that mattered.
You would not learn later how still he had gone after that moment. How every trace of relief, every fragment of survival, every hard-earned breath Under the Mountain had been set aside like something irrelevant.
How he had simply asked again, calmer, slower this time.
"Where?"
And how no one had been able to answer him immediately because the implication of what it meant to return without you in sight had not yet settled properly into words.
By the time you unlocked your apartment door later that evening, your hand was trembling. You noticed it, and frowned faintly at yourself, blamed the long day, the wine you'd shared over dinner, anything except the truth your body was already beginning to understand.
He was already waiting, seated in your chair, legs crossed elegantly. Surrounded by shadows and looking impossibly beautiful, impossibly dangerous, and impossibly alive.
And when he looked at you, you stopped breathing entirely.
For a moment you couldn't move, couldn't speak, couldn't do anything but stare at the male you had been running from your entire life.
You had imagined this reunion a thousand times. None of those fantasies involved him being angry.
His gaze was already fixed on you, dark and intense and burning with something you couldn't quite identify. Something that made your skin prickle with awareness, your heart pound in your chest, your knees threaten to give out beneath you.
"You weren't home," was the first thing he said.
Home. You weren't sure if the Town House had ever truly felt like home.
"I…" Your voice came out embarrassingly small. "N-No."
You could see the muscle in his cheek twitch, the way something in him tightened at the sound of your voice. His gaze moved over you then, reassuring himself that you were real. That you were unharmed. That after fifty years, he had finally made it back to you.
Then the bond snapped. And the world exploded.
Mate
The word echoed through every part of you.
Mate Mate Mate
You had imagined the mating bond before. Dreamed of it, even. Wondered what it might feel like to experience that cosmic connection, that magical recognition, that perfect union of two souls meant for each other.
You had imagined warmth and certainty and joy.
Not this.
Not your entire soul lurching forward as if recognizing something it had spent centuries searching for. Not your knees nearly giving out. Not your heart breaking and healing simultaneously.
Across the room, Rhysand had frozen. For the first time in your life, you saw him stripped utterly bare. Shock, wide and unguarded flashed across his face. Relief so profound it nearly stole your breath.
Then something else crept into his expression. Something infinitely more possessive. Something that made your blood run cold.
The expression terrified you. Because suddenly every fear you'd ever carried became real.
You had wanted a mate. You had dreamed of one.
But not like this. Not someone who already had a claim on your future. Not someone powerful enough to remove every alternative.
Tears burned your eyes, and you stumbled backward.
His face immediately changed. Something wary entered his expression. Like he recognized exactly what was happening inside your head.
You hated that. Hated that he knew you so well.
And when he took a step toward you, you ran. Actually ran. One heartbeat he stood across the room. The next you were lunging for the front door. Not because you thought you could outrun him.
Because prey ran. It was instinct. Pure, thoughtless instinct.
You barely reached the door, before a solid body blocked your path. You slammed directly into his hard chest.
A startled noise escaped you as his strong hands closed around your waist, steadying you before you could fall.
Your palms landed flat against his chest. The entire thing happened so quickly your mind struggled to process it.
For one awful second, all you could think was that if he'd wanted to, he could have caught you before you'd even taken the first step.
"Mm," he murmured quietly above you, almost to himself. "So that's how we're starting?"
Your heart stopped. Then immediately started trying to beat its way out of your chest.
His voice was not raised, not sharp, not even angry. Nothing about this situation had surprised him at all. As though he had already seen every possible version of this moment and chosen the one where you were in his arms anyway.
His hands remained around your waist, not tightening, not pulling, only there, steadying you. It somehow felt far more intimate than if he'd held you tightly.
You throat bobbed.
His eyes followed the movement instantly.
The invisible thread seemed to hum, warmer now, heavier, like it was settling into place with growing certainty that made your chest tighten painfully.
Slowly, deliberately, he loosened his grip.
You immediately stepped backward.
Rhys let you. He simply released you enough that you could move, though the space between you did not truly feel like space at all, because he followed the motion with nothing more than a subtle shift of his body, as though he had already accounted for exactly how far you might go.
As though he had already measured every possible escape you might attempt.
"I need you to breathe." The words were impossibly gentle.
You hated how your body obeyed. Air filled your lungs in one shaky inhale.
His shoulders eased. Just slightly. As though your breathing had been affecting him too.
"You don't have to run," he said. His voice was quieter now, more careful.
You looked at him, really looked.
At the tension beneath that impossible composure. At the tremor in the fingers hanging motionless beside his thighs. At the way his chest expanded a fraction too deeply before every sentence. Like speaking calmly required conscious effort. Like there was something inside him straining so violently against its leash that even breathing had become work.
"Would you let me reject the bond?" The question slipped out before you could stop it.
The answer arrived instantly. Not through words. Through his expression, through the absolute steel in his eyes.
No. No, he wouldn't.
Your heart sank.
Rhysand's gaze dropped for half a heartbeat. Not to your face or your hands. But to you. Like he was seeing you in a way he had never allowed himself before.
"I need you to listen to me," he spoke, his voice even lower than before. Somehow that made it infinitely more dangerous.
"I know this isn't what you wanted." He paused, "I know. And I know you're frightened."
Something had slipped through his control like a breath he hadn't meant to let out.
"But I have waited for you for a very long time."
The words landed too softly. Because nothing about the way he was looking at you matched softness at all. His gaze held yours, unblinking and steady. Patient in a way that made your skin crawl.
"As for what happens next," he murmured quietly, a faint shift in his stance barely perceptible, "you are going to hate me for a while."
A beat passed.
"And I will still be here."
Still, he did not move closer, did not touch you. Your gaze landed briefly to the front door. To the impossible distance between it and you. To the male standing in the way. You knew for a fact, that if he decided you weren't leaving, the door might as well not have existed.
As if he'd read your thoughts, Rhys followed your gaze, and one corner of his mouth twitched. It wasn't amusement, not quite. Something rougher, something honest.
"That," he said, "is a different conversation."
That expression returned. The one that made him seem less like a High Lord and more like a male who had been starving for far too long.
Then, just as quickly, control slammed back into place. His throat bobbed. A swallow. A very mortal gesture.
And somehow that affected you more than anything else.
You forced your shoulders to relax. It didn't work.
The connection stretched taut.
Your weight shifted forward without you meaning it to, just slightly. A fraction of movement, the kind your body made when something inside you leaned before thought could stop it. Toward him.
It was not even conscious. Not a decision rationally made. Just the bond, pulling like gravity disguised as instinct.
And yet the effect on him was immediate. Rhysand went utterly still. Like the world had narrowed to that single, almost imperceptible motion.
His breath changed. A sharp inhale that he did not fully complete. His hands flexed once, slowly. Like he was physically stopping himself from doing something he had already begun to prepare for.
"Don't," he said, the word quiet.
But it was not directed at you. It seemed to be directed inward, at himself.
You froze, heart suddenly too loud.
"I didn't—" you started, confused, because you hadn't meant to move at all.
"I know," he interrupted gently. Rhysand took a deep breath. "But I am asking you to be careful anyway."
You frowned. "I don't understand."
"No." A faint smile ghosted across his mouth. "I don't suppose you do."
The restraint was suddenly louder than anything else in the room.
Rhysand exhaled slowly. His shoulders lowered by a fraction, like he was forcing himself back into himself. Back into control. Back into the version of him you had always known.
But now you had seen the crack. And cracks did not disappear once you noticed them. They only became harder to unsee.
"You are going to make this difficult," he sighed quietly. It almost sounded like amusement, almost.
But underneath it, there was something else. Something that made you want to clench your thighs together.
And then, softer again, "I already know I won’t mind."

“DON’T YOU THINK YOU’RE A LITTLE OBSESSED?”
Killian’s words echoed through your head, his cruel smirk shooting arrows through your heart. As much as those words rattled your very core, you couldn’t ignore the truth that lay underneath his jab.
You were obsessed with Gareth Carson and Kayden Lockwood.
Your head turned as fast as lightning anytime they entered a room, the beating of your heart so hard you would find yourself clutching that area of your chest.
Your eyes visibly softened when either one of them spoke to you. Their voice relaxes your body almost instantly, you remember Ava and Cecily sharing a glance the first time it happened.
The worst part was the wetness that dripped down your thighs whenever Kayden got real close, placing a strand of your hair behind your eyes and softly whispering to you. Or when Gareth snaked his arms around your arms and unintentionally rubbed his front side to your back side.
Was that done unintentionally? You’ll never know.
You were terrible at hiding your crushes.
“You do know their dating, right?” Glyndon once whispered in your ear during a party. There was no snark in her question, only friendly concern but it still stung.
There was one time Brandon had to fake cough when you got too close with Gareth, sending you a ‘we’ll talk later’ look. That talk consisted mostly of him scolding you about home-wreaking. Though his eyes and tone softened when he noticed the tears that threatened to come down.
Brandon let you off with a last warning before hugging you and whispering reassuring words.
And now, as you sat in that dimly lit café, Gareth’s brother was teasing you about it.
“Is it obvious?” You asked softly, your eyes downcast and refusing to make eye contact.
An amused huff escaped Killian’s lips, “real obvious. You of all people should know better.”
You flinched.
“I know.”
“You don’t.”
“Kill—“
“Let me talk.” Killian’s tone grew stern, he sat up straighter in his chair and crossed his arms. “Listen, I’m only talking to you because Glyn’s been worried about you. So hear me out. You need to leave Gareth and—bleh—Kayden alone. At first, it was a simple crush I suppose but now you’re full blown forcing your way into their lives. Stop.”
You shrunk, internally groaning as embarrassment filled your body, ‘this is so humiliating!’.
Of course everyone noticed.
Of course at least one of them was going to confront you. (Though you believed it would’ve been Vaughn instead of Killian.)
Despite everything that happened since the first year of college, the Elites and Heathens grew closer as the years went by. Which was no surprise considering nearly all of them were dating someone from the ‘other side’.
You only came into the picture a year ago.
Of course they were going to protect Gareth and Kayden. From their perspective, you looked like a home-wreaker, someone sniffing around their close friends—or Killian’s side, brother’s—relationship.
A sting was felt in your eyes and before you could hold it in, tears uncontrollably fell. God, you were even more embarrassed now.
But the pain was too heavy to bear. You didn’t want to fall in love with them. Everyone acted like you could stop feeling almost instantly but it was more complicated than that.
You tried.
You tried to stop seeing them, you tried to stop thinking about them but no matter how much you tried, those butterflies always came back, growing stronger as the days passed by.
“I’m sorry..” was all you could choke out, sniffing and wiping your wet cheeks.
You shot Killian a quick look and saw his slightly guilty expression though he hid it as soon as the two of you made eye contact.
“You look ridiculous. Stop it.” He muttered, glancing around the almost empty café, “Glyn will strangle me if she finds out I made you cry.”
You left as soon as he finished his sentence.
Perhaps he was right.
Perhaps they were all right.
It was easy to ignore them now that the truth finally came out. You avoided areas you knew they were commonly occupied, sat with others during friendly events and didn’t text as much as you used to.
You ignored the way your heart beat faster when Gareth glanced at you questionly whenever you moved away from his touch.
You ignored the way Kayden frowned whenever you walked away after catching sight of them.
You ignored the way their questioning looks became angry glares when you openly avoided the both of them.
The more it happened, the harder it became to hide. Kayden seemed to pick on you during lectures, forcing you to read out material or answer questions. While Gareth seemed to appear right besides you at any given chance, following you around campus and ranting about random things to get a reaction out of you.
They didn’t give up.
“Hey! Wanna go to the cat café you were talking about?” Gareth asked politely, tugging onto the hem of your shirt.
You forced him off of you, creating distance once more, “no thank you.”
As you turned away, you failed to notice the way Gareth’s smile fell and how his hands shook with a rage he hadn’t felt in a long time.
The next day, it was Kayden bothering you now.
“You’ve been distant lately, everything okay?”
“Yeah. Just tired.”
“Hm.” Not a complete response. But enough to scare you away.
It seemed to become a pattern.
One would approach you the day before, then the other would approach the day after. It was becoming increasingly difficult to avoid them.
You tugged onto a strand of your hair. A bad habit you gained whenever you were stressed, something Gareth and Kayden used to scold you about.
But instead of stopping you, they were now the reason why you were doing it.
Their stupid advances and endless questions weighed heavily.
“…so stupid.” You groaned quietly, aware of your surroundings. You were sitting on a red picnic blanket, half-eaten sandwich in hand and most definitely at a public park.
You felt the fabric shift, “you okay?” A warm hand rubbed your arms, soothing your tense muscles almost immediately.
Besides you lay Remington—one of your closest friends—he had invited you for a picnic after you spent the week studying for finals.
Apparently you seemed ‘too’ stressed the last time he saw you, which you didn’t deny.
“I’m fine.” He gave you an unconvinced look, Remington sat up from his laying down position, crossing his legs together and facing your direction.
“No you’re not.”
“Remi..”
“C’mon!” He leaned in close, your knees lightly brushing against his. “You’ve been stressed even before finals, I recognise the signs of a heart-break, mate.”
You scoffed, “really?”
Remington nodded enthusiastically, “really! Trust me, I’ve seen the others go through it.” He smiled brightly and took the sandwich out of your hands. “Tell me!”
“No.”
“Pleasseee”
“Remington, No.”
His smile seemed to grow bigger, “pretty please, my gorgeous princess!” He was now fully in your face, squishing your cheeks together with a chuckle.
“Rem—!”
“What are you doing?”
You stopped your struggle against your brunette friend, your eyes darting towards the direction of the voice.
You froze as you met eye contact Gareth and Kayden. The couple standing together, wearing matching glares whilst a murderous energy emitted from them.
Remington moved away. “Going on a picnic, why?”
Kayden tsked.
“You two are closer than usual.” The older man suddenly pointed out, his eyes darting between the proximity.
“He’s just comforting me about the finals. Remington’s been a huge help lately.”
“Really?” You flinched at Gareth’s tone, both hands were in a tight fists and his smile seemed to be faker than usual. “So you’ve been hanging out with him?”
His mask was slipping. Kayden sent the blond a look you couldn’t decipher.
The tension grew thicker.
“Alright!” Remington got up and started packing up, the awkwardness getting to him. His movements were stopped when your hands interconnected with his.
You looked up at Gareth and Kayden, “see you two later..”
Before they could reply, you sped away with Remington close behind. The brunette was complaining but you paid no mind.
If you two stayed for any longer, you were sure Remington would be six feet under.
Confusion was all you felt.
The two had never been open about how they felt about you except for the occasional non-platonic touches they teased you with.
Maybe that’s why you gave up so easy on them. Combining their lack of communication and Killian’s ‘talk’ had made it easier to come to the decision of trying to ghost them.
You sighed in relief after losing sight of them. It was better this way. Avoiding them instead of clinging onto them like a child, after all there was no way they felt the same way.
It was silent—well almost. The shuffling of chairs, whispers echoing through the quiet room and someone loudly breathing like they’d never taken a breath of air before.
Typical of a library.
It had been a few weeks since the ‘picnic’ incident as you named it. Avoiding the couple surprisingly became easier since then, though it felt more like they were avoiding you.
Coming to that conclusion stung more than it should’ve, considering that you were the one who started the ‘ghosting’ war.
“Cheesy rom-com, another cheesy rom-com, spicy, extra spicy or fantasy novel.” Your fingers grazed each book you passed, eyes quickly assessing the cover and the blurb.
You were typically more interested in action but due to recent.. developments … the romance genre seemed to entice you in a way it hadn’t before.
Your fingers landed on a comic book. ‘Wow, people really do just place books in the wrong spot.’ Without another thought, you picked up the comic and marched towards the comic book section.
Or tried to march.
Your back hit the book-case, causing it to shake due to the harsh shove. You blinked in shock before an angry growl left your lips.
“You!”
“Hey you.”
You blinked once more.
In front of you was the blond you’ve been avoiding for weeks, his arms were blocking all the escape routes as he pushed you against the shelf.
His green eyes seemed more intimidating than ever before.
“Gareth?”
“Yes?” You tried not to melt at his voice, the same voice that’s been plaguing your every thought.
But failed miserably seeing as Gareth smirked, eyes brightening at the way your body relaxed to his voice.
He leaned closer, “you’re bad for my ego.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
You heard shuffling nearby and you soon caught sight of Kayden walking towards the two of you. He took a position besides Gareth, his dark eyes already assessing you.
The tension grew thicker. You felt uncomfortable, especially in the position Gareth forced the two of you in.
“Why are you avoiding us?” Kayden spoke up after a minute of silence, his arms were crossed and he tilted his head in a questioning manner.
You only let out a nervous chuckle, eyes darting around to find an escape route. You took a step towards the right, Gareth immediately stopped you.
While giving you a smug look, the blond parted your legs apart and slid his own between them.
“C’mon, answer the question.” His voice lowered to a soft whisper, his breath warm against your ear. There was barely any distance between the two of you.
The room seemed to feel hotter than usual.
“I haven’t been avoiding you..”
Kayden chuckled, “We doubt that.” The older man nudged Gareth’s side, seemingly trying to signal something.
The blond nodded and his lips suddenly attached themselves to your neck, pressing soft kisses to your throat before roughly biting and sucking in his chosen spot.
You let out a tiny whimper as you unexpectedly moved your neck to give Gareth more access, you tried to cover your mouth but a hand gripped yours away.
“Don’t.” Kayden’s voice was darker than before, a lustful edge carrying itself in his tone. “Answer.”
“I—“ a moan escaped mid answer as Gareth finally found your sweet spot, he smirked against your skin as he sucked harshly.
You could feel Gareth’s hands sneaking inside your jeans, playfully snapping the band of your underwear before moving it aside.
His hands were surprisingly warm, sliding smoothly against your intimate parts. Your breathing became faster as your heart raced, you could barely think about the fact this was all being done in a public library.
“Pay attention, Name.” Kayden purred, clearly enjoying watching you get completely wrecked by his boyfriend.
Gareth giggled, “how can they? Look at how excited they are. Did you have fun ignoring us, Name? Did you want us to fall apart from your avoidance?”
You could only shake your head, words failing to spill as Gareth’s movement became faster.
“Because we did. You made us so frustrated, almost went crazy when you turned the other way. You were so clingy and then radio silence, that's cold. Catching you so close with Astor of all people? Hurtful.” Gareth hummed, cheeks turning red as the heat began to overwhelm him. “Tell us..who told you to stay away?”
Kayden pressed soft pecks on Gareth’s neck before moving his lips to roughly claim yours. You gasped as he bit your lower lip, enough of an entrance for him to stick his tongue inside and move about. It was messy—almost desperate—salvia dripping from your lips as Kayden gave you no room to breath.
“At least let them answer..” the blond rolled his eyes at his boyfriend's sudden interruption, though the amusement in his eyes was as clear as day.
It was all so much.
Gareth’s fingers touching sensitive areas, hastening his movements with every muffled moan.
Combined with Kayden’s rough kiss that caused excitement to bubble up.
As Kayden pulled away, your breathing became faster, body beginning to shake, and warmth spreading around you.
“Let go, Darling.”
Your back arched as you let out a soft moan after cumming, a warm sensation felt around your intimate area. Your head leaned against Gareth’s shoulder, knees shaking making it harder to stand.
As your senses came back to you, the silence of the library surprised you. The only thing that could be heard was the deep breaths coming from all three of you.
Noticing your confused expression Kayden spoke up, “we kicked everyone out.”
Oh.
‘They can do that?’ You seemed more confused at this revelation, which only amused the couple.
“On serious note, who told you to stay away? Or was it your own idea?” Gareth asked, holding your body close and placing a hand on the back of your head.
“Uhm Killian spoke to me about it. Apparently I was too clingy and it looked like I was going to ruin your relationship.”
“Killian told you that?”
You gulped at the glare that presented itself on the blond’s face, “I’m assuming Glyndon and the others were the ones who convinced him…don’t be mad. I’m sorry.”
The couple glanced at each other, something lighting up in their eyes. Oh god. You didn’t want to know what they were planning.
Kayden turned back to you, pecking your cheek. “We’re sorry too. We should’ve been more clear about our feelings. Our hints weren’t exactly the best.”
A chuckle escaped you, “yeah, they weren’t.”
“How about we make it up to you? Kayden booked a reservation at your favourite restaurant earlier today, let us take you out and spoil you.” Gareth said with a smile, placing a hair gently behind your ear.
“Yeah, I’d like that.”

synopsis: in which sylus is obsessed with your lips.
contains: sylus x mc!reader (not dating because i like tormenting him like that), alcohol consumption, horny sylus (not smut tho), suggestive themes, mentions of violence and blood, and LOTS of cussing.
a/n: i told myself i wouldn't write anything until i finish finals but sylus won. i'm also avoiding his myth spoilers since i didn't pull his pair yet. enjoy reading! do NOT copy or translate my work. sylus does NOT endorse plagiarism.
sylus wants to kiss you right now. he wants to kiss you so fucking badly, it hurts.
you can't blame the man. you looked absolutely delectable right now. hair up, ears jeweled, eyes hooded, and back bared, oh, you looked so good in the dress he handpicked for you; he could just devour you whole and leave nothing to spare.
and he would have no remorse for doing so either. the auction you two were at was filled with fucking nobodies. how dare they look at you, let alone breathe the same air as you? he's lost count of how many times he felt the urge to just demolish this shithole of a place.
sylus sighs, rubbing a hand over his face. he knows he's being irrational. after all, he was the one who suggested you two attend this auction. you showed interest in an old manuscript that just so happened to be available only at this auction, and he would be damned if he didn't get you everything you could ever want. hell, you could even ask him for his heart, and he would tear it out of his cold chest, deliver it to your divine feet, get on his fucking knees, and beg for you to demand more of him.
so, actually, you can blame him for the situation he is in. he was the one who picked the set you're wearing right now oh so ravishingly. he was the one who brought you to this stupid auction that's taking so long to get on with it already—where the fuck is the manuscript? but most importantly, he was the one who made your lips look so damn kissable right now.

People came into his mountain, wanting to take away his most treasured item - you.
Sylus: *walks inside of a church, goes knees bent, hands praying* ...Dear Lord, if she's not the one for me... force her to be....
.. Bind her heart to mine, tie her soul to my own. If there's even the slightest chance that she's meant to be mine, then let every step she takes lead her closer to me, let every thought of hers drift my way. And if I must wait, if I must earn her heart, then grant me the strength to be patient, to be worthy. But don't let her slip from me. Not now, not ever. And if the stars themselves must be realigned, then let them shift in our favor, until the day she looks at me as though I’ve been hers all along."
hihi!! hello! I hope I won’t bother you, but can I have a request of Landon King x F!Reader but slightly angst where Landon is obsessed with Mia?

Landon king has known everything he’s ever wanted since he was little and in the end, he always got it.
He wants this limited edition art set?
His father has ordered it to be delivered the next day.
He wants to buy this unnecessarily expensive new car?
His parents will buy it immediately.
He wants the blonde with blue ribbons decorating her hair?
He got her.
But why is there still a hole in his heart? There’s an emptiness that remains even after everything that’s happened. He got his happy ending, he got the girl in the end but yet, his heart pulses with an ache.
It aches so much it keeps him awake at night, staring at his ceiling like it offended him. His days become slower. He finds himself staring at his newest sculpture and he feels something.
Something.
Landon’s arms wrap around himself as he sits on the marble floor of his art studio, his head leaning against the wall with defeat.
“Why?” He asks softly to any god that will listen, his dark eyes filled with self-hatred and confusion. “Why do I feel this way?”
His eyes land on the sculpture.
Her nose was perfectly shaped, fitting well with her beautiful eyes and soft lips that curled into a smile.
She was so beautiful.
But she was not Mia.
The sculpture he worked so hard to create was not his girlfriend—but his childhood friend. The realization left a sickening taste on his tongue.
Name’s eyes stared at him, the same eyes he’s been dreaming of since the day they left.
Oh god. It hurt. The day they left, their eyes were glassy as tears ran down their face, lips quivering as they held the letter close to their chest.
Landon remembered what he said that night.
“The fact you think I have any sort of feelings for you is disgusting.”
He felt so stupid.
He hadn’t meant what he said. When Name confessed her feelings, he was confused and angry.
Confused that his heart started beating like a drum.
Angry that—just for a second—he saw a possible future with the heartbroken girl standing right in front of him.
Mia was waiting for an answer that same night. She confessed three nights prior, her light-blue eyes flashing through his mind.
That was all it took for harsh words to spew out his lips.
But as he sat in his empty art studio, haunting silence suffocating him, regret ate at his own heart.
Landon King never made mistakes.
Until now.

Damn, I was absolutely thrilled with your last request involving Vaughn and Yulian! It was simply amazing! I would love to see more of that kind of content, please. Could you create more stories or situations with those characters? That would be wonderful!
HAPPIEST TOGETHER
Summary; as the wedding date draws closer, Vaughn reminisces old memories of Yulian and Name.
Warnings: jealousy//log typical violence//kissing//over-protective parents
Reader: Gn!reader, Orlov!reader
₊✩‧₊˚౨ৎ˚₊✩‧₊₊✩‧₊˚౨ৎ˚₊✩‧₊₊✩‧₊˚౨ৎ˚₊✩‧₊₊✩‧₊˚౨ৎ˚₊
Vaughn Morozov never thought he’d find himself in this position.
He sat on the couch, watching as his partners argued about the colour scheme for their wedding. Yulian was crazy for a dark scheme which Name was incredibly against, stating that their wedding should be filled with colour and not funeral like.
He chuckled softly as Yulian let out a loud groan.
“It’s not going to be funeral-like” Yulian mimicked their tone at the last words, “it’s going to give off a dark pinterest mafia wedding!”
“Yulian—“
“Ah ah ah! You’re not going to convince me otherwise!” The brunette placed his lips on Name’s, silencing them almost immediately.
That was something everyone had gotten used to. A lot of people strongly believed Name was the baby of the relationship, it was only known to close friends that it was secretly Yulian.
Whenever he didn’t get his way, his lips suddenly attached to the others.
He called it his superpower.
Vaughn hid his grin as he thought back to the first time he pulled the ‘power’ out on Name.
“Yulian, leave me alone!” Name’s voice echoed through the empty alleyway, their arms crossed and a scowl on their face.
Yulian pouted, “oh come on, foxy you know you want us!”. He pushed Name against the brick wall, placing a leg between their thighs. Red crawled up Name’s neck.
“Vaughn.” Their eyes moved to him.
Vaughn only shrugged, his lips twitching was the only sign that he found the situation utterly amusing. Three weeks ago, Name transferred to King’s U’s University for ‘safety’ reasons. The heathens were forced to protect them during their time at university, Uncle Damien had demanded that.
For some odd reason Yulian formed some sort of attachment to them, clinging onto them like a child. Vaughn only found it strange that he didn’t seem to mind the attention his boyfriend gave Name.
Turns out, they were both falling in love with them.
“Guys come on! I thought you guys were dating? What’s the sudden attachment? Are you guys fighting? What’s—“
Name let out a ‘hmph!’ as Yulian smashed his lips against theirs.
Vaughn blinked before smiling, “finally you shut them up.”
It then took an extra two weeks until Name gave up fighting and gave in to their desires.
The trio hid their relationship for a while after that, they didn’t know how their friends and family were going to react and they weren’t itching to find out.
The others only found out after a certain ‘incident’ occurred during a party.
“Who the fuck is that?”
Everyone turned to face Yulian, whose face was twisted into a murderous sneer. His arms were crossed, fists shaking as his eyes burned into a certain pair near the bar.
Vaughn inched closer to his boyfriend, an arm wrapping around his waist. He glanced at the pair as well.
Their secret partner was giggling feverishly at something the other man said, a hand resting on his bicep.
“How should we know?” Nikolai asked with raised eyebrows, he leaned closer to Brandon, who simply shrugged.
Vaughn felt Gareth staring at him but he didn’t turn away, his blond friend could always see through him and he didn’t want to deal with his friend bugging him.
“Why? Is it bothering you?” The couple rolled their eyes in sync, choosing to ignore Killian’s question. They could hear the teasing within his question.
Glyndon sat up straighter, pinching her boyfriend before sending a smile to the other couple. “Name said he was a childhood friend!”
“If he was a childhood friend, we’d know who he was.” Jeremy finally spoke up, he didn’t look interested at all, preferring to continue cuddling Cecily.
Cecily glared at him, “you’re making it worse..”
“I know.”
The ‘childhood friend’ moved closer to Name, whispering softly in their ears.
Yulian snapped.
He stormed towards them, Vaughn followed close behind. This caught everyone’s attention, eyes focused on them.
“Get the hell away from our partner!” Without giving the guy a chance, Yulian pounced on him, fist colliding with the guy’s face. Vaughn took Name by the wrist and dragged them into his arms, refusing to let go even when Name begged.
“PARTNER??” Nikolai’s voice echoed across the room, along with others gasps.
“Are they serious?”
“I knew it! I told you guys and none of you believed me!”
“Little monster, let’s focus on the actual issue here..”
“Jeremy, stop them!” Name nodded profusely, sending a quick appreciated glance at Cecily.
The night ended with them all being kicked out of the club, though none of them were worried about that.
The ride home was filled with questions from all their friends.
Turns out, most of them had figured it out a while ago but kept it quiet. The others that weren’t aware felt betrayed by ones that knew, which started a minor argument.
“Does Uncle Damien and Auntie Mio know?” Jeremy asked Vaughn quietly, once everyone left.
“Oh god..” the brunette groaned, remembering that part was the worst.
Simply said, Damien Orlov almost murdered Vaughn and Yulian the night they met.
The throuple sat in complete silence as they watched Damien pace back and forth, tension suffocating them.
The man had been pacing for almost ten minutes, his silence worse than any shouting they originally expected.
“Kaa-san..” Mio glanced at her kid, seeing the desperation swirling in their eyes, Mio finally spoke up.
“Damien, from what I’ve seen, Vaughn and Yulian deeply care for our child. They protected them like you asked and Vaughn is Kirill and Sasha’s kid, you know they raised him right.”
Her words made Damien pause.
She continued, “Name is happy, are they not?”
“No.”
Silence filled the room.
Mio’s eyes sharpened, “what do you mean ‘no’?”
“They’re my baby! I cannot accept this behaviour and I cannot accept the apes that surround my child!” Damien yelled (whined), he glared at Yulian and Vaughn, he stormed towards them.
Yulian let out a squeak as Damien grabbed both men by their collars and forced them to stand up.
“Dad!!”
“Damien!”
In a flash, Vaughn and Yulian found themselves outside the Orlov mansion, thrown against the cold pavement.
Vaughn winced at the harsh impact, wiping off the snow on his pants.
“Uncle Damien, we really do love Name!” Vaughn called out but the door had slammed shut.
The couple glanced at each other.
They waited outside for half and hour, shivering in the cold before Name opened the door and let them back in.
It had taken a while but Damien got over it, Mio threatening to make him sleep on the couch for a month definitely helped calm him down.
As well as Name threatening to run away from home.
Now whenever they go on family trips, Damien is much friendlier but he still slips insults disguised as jokes.
Vaughn chuckled as a memory of Yulian purposely rage-baiting Damien flood right back up.
“What’s got you smiling like that, V?” Name asked, their eyes sparkling with curiosity and amusement. The brunette snapped back to reality.
He faced his dear lovers who were no longer arguing and now focusing their attention onto him.
Yulian smirked, “I think he’s getting all sappy. Isn’t that right, Mishka?”
“I am not.”
“Oh yes you are.”
“Yulian.”
Name snickered at Vaughn’s displeased expression, “be careful, Yulian. Kitty’s gotta freak.”
Yulian roared with laughter, the two high-fived as their laughter synced together. They were practically hanging onto each other to stop the other from falling.
Vaughn rolled his eyes but a smile crawled up his face, his eyes visibly softening as his lovers found amusement in his annoyance.
He loved his partners more than anything in the world.
Even if they were the biggest annoyance of his life.

JEREMY VOLKOV
“YOU BELONG TO ME.”
Jeremy is extremely over-protective of his loved one, especially the one he devotes his heart to. He’s constantly in your space, fussing and worrying over you.
His possessive streak can get annoying and often suffocating.
He doesn’t trust any males around you, Jeremy doesn’t trust any of your girl-friends either.
With male friends, it kinda depends of who it is. If you’re friends with any of the heathens, he trusts them and allows you to hang by their side without getting jealous. If it’s an elite prick, he hates them all (Bran is an exception), Jeremy won’t hide his distaste.
With female friends, he remains on neutral terms with them. Though if they annoy him, Jeremy won’t hesitate to take you away from their presence.
When you guys argue, Jeremy will apologise first even when he’s right.
He hates when you’re mad at him and won’t risk the relationship over an argument.
Though if he believes he’s in the right, he’ll say something petty as ‘karma’ but still apologises first.
Jeremy Volkov spoils you.
If you even—just for a second—glance at something, he’ll go in and buy it immediately.
Every birthday, he buys something that you’d usually tell him not to.
Perhaps an entire island if you asked.
Jeremy Volkov is the type of lover that’d mark you with jewellery.
Specifically a necklace (or ring).
He’ll buy a necklace with his initials and make you wear it all the time.
It reminds people who you truely belong to.
Jeremy can’t help but get all worked up whenever he sees you in, once or twice he’s pulls you aside and fucks your brains out.
If you have any younger siblings, Jeremy gladly helps you look after them.
Your parents even trust him with babysitting duty.
Though he will get annoyed if they suddenly tag along during date nights.
Jeremy Volkov doesn’t use social media a lot so if you ever pull a TikTok prank on him, the chances he falls for them is high.
You and Annika love teaming up to annoy him.
Annika loves using you to calm Jeremy down whenever he’s upset, it’s the fastest way to get herself out of trouble.
He doesn’t cook often, but for you? He’ll cook as much as he need to.
If you know how to cook, he loves getting lunches made from you. Jeremy gloats to all his friends about what his s/o has packed for him and is smug whenever people compliment your cooking.
If you don’t know how to cook, he packs lunches for you. He chooses the most exquisite dishes just to impress you. Jeremy hides his blush when you compliment his cooking.
Jeremy Volkov is the type of boyfriend that takes you out on motorcycle dates.
His motorcycle is his therapy and he happily enjoys it with you.
Rides include driving for hours before stopping at a small picnic area, where you guys just talk about your days together and future.
You guys go on the these rides so much, you begin to reconigse the sounds of his motorcycle engines in your neighbourhood.
Jeremy gifts you a personalised helment for an anniversary.
If you also enjoy riding motorcycles, he’ll gift you a custom motorcycle.
Jeremy Volkov would prefer having one kid in the future, the gender doesn’t matter.
But the decision lays in your hands.
If you want more than one kid? Sure.
If you want to adopt? Jeremy prepares papers
If you want no kids? Jeremy doesn’t mind.
All he wants is you to be his future. He doesn’t mind the children, financial situation, or living situation. As long as you’re by his side, Jeremy has the future he wants.

She just loves smelling herself on you.
…and it also signals to other people that you have a loyal girlfriend waiting for you back home.
She’s marking her territory. Don’t judge.
Ava Nash can get insecure which roots from her diagnosis.
Moments like those are when she needs you to help carry the burden, she appreciates words of affirmation and physical touch.
Enjoys it when you cuddle up real close and let her be little spoon in bed.
Ava worries about even the smallest of injuries. If you get a paper cut, she scolds you for being careless whilst staring at you with big, glassy eyes.
She hates it when you get injured.
During parties, Ava expects you to be by her side so then you can protect her or she with you. Though that doesn’t mean you guys can’t have fun!
Ava Nash will drag you to the dance floor and party the night away, even if you don’t know how to dance. Her smile is wide and her excitement is rubbing off on you.
Whilst in the middle of the dance floor, she’ll pull you close and kiss you gently. Her arms wrapping around you and body inching closer.
At some point, she may whisk you away to have some more private fun ;)
Ava Nash is a TikTok girly and that’s a fact everyone knows.
Every single couple trend, you guys will do it.
Her favourite was the one where she left lipstick stains all over your face.
Instead of you pranking her, it’s the opposite.
She absolutely adores your reactions and always posts them, often finds herself giggling anytime you use memes to express yourself.
“Thanks for the flowers!” PRANK

blurry candid of you laughing because he said something stupid.
i mean genuinely blurry. your face is half-moving. the table is crooked. the photo quality looks like it was taken during an earthquake.

the funniest part is that isagi posts this with his whole chest. no irony. no embarrassment. no self-awareness.
because in his mind? making you laugh is one of his greatest accomplishments.
he stares at this picture more than some of his match highlights.
fans immediately lose their minds once they zoom in and realize you're looking directly at him while laughing. not at the camera. not at somebody else. him.
comments become: "girl blink twice if he's forcing you to laugh." "he definitely told the worst joke imaginable." "the way she's looking at him i'm going the fuck to bed "
and isagi is scrolling through the comments smiling like an idiot because nobody understands.

Sylus is not-so-subtly using Mephisto to spy on you while he's on a business trip— something you realize immediately as you're lounging on the couch watching TV in one of his t-shirts and hear a sudden tap-tap-tap from outside the balcony's sliding glass door.
You squint, adjusting your glasses to see a familiar red eyed crow cocking his head at you through the window. "Really?" You murmur with a smirk, getting up to pull open the door. Mephisto hops onto your shoulder with a rusty-sounding squawk.
"How long have you been out here?" You murmur good naturedly, ruffling the bird's feathers. The apertures of Mephisto's mechanical eyes restrict and dilate as he registers your face. "Hey, Sylus," you say with a wink, knowing he's listening and watching through Mephisto.
As you return to the couch, setting Mephisto on the coffee table across from you, a text buzzes through on your phone that confirms your suspicions. I like you in that shirt.
You smirk, standing up to strike an exaggerated pose in front of the bird, showcasing how oversized the shirt is on you. "So sexy, right?" You tease sarcastically.
Sexiest thing on the planet, Sylus writes back. Maybe I should come back home early to take it off of you.
"Maybe you should," you say, watching Mephisto preen his feathers. "How many more days?"
Three, baby, Sylus responds. Mephisto can keep you company in the meantime.
"Mephie can't talk," you retort, talking into the silence. "And he needs his gears oiled, by the way. He creaks like an old man when he walks." You can practically hear Sylus' thick, rumbling chuckle when he responds with a string of laughing emojis.
"I'm getting lonelier by the second," you whine. "Seriously, it's been like two weeks now and you've been too busy to call. I worry about you, you know?"
There's absolutely nothing to worry about. I'm fine. I'll be home before you know it.
You roll your eyes at his placating text. You aren't trying to be clingy, but this is the longest the two of you have ever been apart, and the persistent aching feeling of missing him is starting to wear you down. "I know, I know," you mutter, waving him off. Your phone buzzes again.
In fact, I'll make you a bet. If I'm home before you know it, you have to do whatever I say. Agreed?
"Oh, please," you snicker. Mephisto fluffs out his wings. "Fine. Whatever you say." You know he's just trying to get you to stop being mopey.
Anything I say?
"Anything," you concede, lying back to absentmindedly resume scrolling through the TV channels.
Perfect. As if on cue you hear three hard knocks on the front door.

“𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐧𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐮𝐩, 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐚 𝐭𝐞𝐧”
a/n: oh how i love bare faced beauty.
synopsis: them seeing you with no makeup for the first time, just pure bare face, as they wanted to come over and surprise you at your apartment.
ft. isagi yoichi, itoshi rin, itoshi sae, nagi seishiro, mikage reo, bachira meguru, shidou ryusei, karasu tabito, kaiser michael, ness alexis
isagi yoichi
he comes over fully prepared for a surprise. flowers? check. snacks? check. mentally rehearsed casual greeting so he doesn’t sound like a loser? absolutely.
you open the door in an oversized t-shirt that’s definitely one of his (he recognizes it immediately), short shorts, hair messy, face bare and glowing like you just stepped out of a slice-of-life anime.
isagi’s brain immediately does the microsoft windows XP shut down sound effect.
on the outside he’s like: “oh– hey! i was just– uh– surprising you–”
but on the inside he’s like: wait. wait. no makeup. this is her face. this is actually her face. why does she look… softer? brighter? is this legal?
he now notices every tiny detail: the faint shadows under your eyes, your natural lashes, the way you rub your eye like a sleepy cat.
suddenly, everything clicks. all those times you said “i look bad today” and he disagreed? HE MEANT IT WITH EVERY PART OF HIS SOUL.
spends the next ten minutes overanalyzing why he feels like he just unlocked a secret ending.
keeps staring. not in a creepy way. more like a “i’m witnessing something sacred” way.
later, when you ask why he’s so quiet, he blurts out: “i like you like this. i mean– i like you always– but THIS–”
isagi yoichi falls harder every time he sees you relaxed, unguarded, real. this just rewired his brain chemistry.
when you give them...the stare
♡: how the lads men react when you shoot them your infamous glare
sylus: “i mean it, sweetie. i really don’t mind what we do for our date. choose whatever you like, and i’ll be happy to…”
brazen as ever. trails off, but only out of amusement
at first.
he gives you a stare of his own, assuming this is one of your little games. you’ll both break simultaneously, and you’ll feign annoyance at him like you always do. nothing a kiss or two won’t fix.
except, it’s already been 10 seconds since he met your gaze. and you’re showing no signs of backing down.
he can’t subdue the twitch in his eye, and you zero in on it immediately. an invitation to go in for the kill.
you cock your head to the side and narrow your eyes even further, and before the “i’m sorry?” can even leave your lips, he’s shifting his crimson eyes and clearing his throat
his hands fidget in his pockets, and his lips curl in a defeated grin. "alright. how about an auction, then? i see i have something to atone for."
“boys will be boys”
“boys will be boys”, which isn't true at all, because when isagi yoichi was still just a little boy, he always held your hand when you were scared, and helped wipe the dirt and grime off of your knees when you tripped.
“boys will be boys”, which isn't true at all, because when bachira meguru was still just a little boy, he always defended you from bullies--even if they hurt him instead--, and always told you it didn't hurt even when it did.
“boys will be boys”, which isn't true at all, because when chigiri hyoma was still just a little boy, he never argued with you or complained and even allowed you to touch and play with his hair if you asked him politely.
“boys will be boys”, which isn't true at all, because when kunigami rensuke was still just a little boy, he always held your stuff, whether it's your backpack or thick library books, without complaint and with a smile.
“boys will be boys”, which isn't true at all, because when barou shouei was still just a little boy, he helped you cleanwhen it was your day for classroom cleaning duty, and always helped organize your extremely messy desk.
“boys will be boys”, which isn't true at all, because when mikage reo was still just a little boy, he always bought you whatever you wanted, and let you have whatever expensive item of his you wanted as long as you liked it.
“boys will be boys”, which isn't true at all, because when nagi seishiro was still just a little boy, he let you play on his video game consoles, and he never got mad at you even if you dropped it and cracked it.
“boys will be boys”, which isn't true at all, because when itoshi rin was still just a little boy, he always bought you his favorite lottery ice cream on every occasion. whether you passed your test, your failed your test, you get an ice cream.
“boys will be boys”, which isn't true at all, because when michael kaiser was still just a little boy, he always pushed you on the swings at the park and listened to you rant, even if he just recieved an exhaustive beating from his father and couldn't even talk.
“boys will be boys”, which isn't true at all, because when alexis ness was still just a little boy, he always visited you when you were sick and told you about magic and his favorite folklore and fantasy stories to cheer you up.
so did i ever tell you guys how much i fw blue lock boys and the childhood best friend trope??? well, a lot.
sylus has been taking mephisto for walks long before lucian was even born.
it was always a time for him to sit with his thoughts. this solitude voluntary, not lonely. moments to recollect and recount and restructure.
where no matter his grievances, not even silence yells back.
until lucian.
“yoyigo-adtiko-tiko—“
oh, his precious lucian.
“yodigo-aidigodigo-digo dai! tiktiko…”
waddling beside him with uneasy steps. barely even looking up as he goes on and on.
“kitokitokito— ah-di’yoyoi-do! papa?”
his heart gives out when he finally does. sleep mused hair, eyes bright and awake await for his response.
sylus may not have so-silent walks anymore. but he’s not about to go against whatever in the world his son just said.
“yes, angel.” he smiles, bending to ruffle his messy hair more.
revealing his six tooth grin, he nods and goes on.
sylus sighs. content. oddly preferring this over the quiet he once walked with. because at least this one talks back.
