While We Orbit
Hey all!
I’ve gone ahead and created a blog for my music:
https://whileweorbit.tumblr.com/
Give it a follow if you’re interested!
perfectionisodd replied to your audio post: I’ve been messing around with music composition...
its nice.
Thanks bud
I’ve been messing around with music composition software lately and I wound up making something I’m pretty proud of.
So, here it is!
Have you ever listened to a song and thought you knew everything about it?
Then you hear
“...saying nothing, that’s enough for me”
and realized the speaker could have said,
“...saying nothing that’s enough for me.”
Wikipedia tells me the finale was a year ago today. I hope it was a good year for everyone! It was a weird one for me—but ultimately a good one, I think—full of new challenges and adjustments, and plenty of decompressing from the five intense years of making Korra. Thanks to everyone for the continued support of our/my work, old and new. Here is a sneak peek of a thing I drew for a thing. I hope you all have a safe and happy end of the year!
Love, Bryan
But I never went to one of those meetings. I said to Pound, “What do you do?” He said, “Rewrite each other’s poems.” And I said, “Why?” He said, “To squeeze the water out of them.” “That sounds like a parlor game to me,” I said, “and I’m a serious artist”—kidding, you know. And he laughed and he didn’t invite me any more.
Robert Frost, The Art of Poetry
Two years later and this still makes me laugh.
Perpetual
In the yard designated for smokers, a friend taught me the nature of man.
We are built to move, the structure designed to take the impact. He loved to dash across the shore.
I’m good at running.
Never leave me the challenge of a race; I’d leave you behind.
I thought I was okay with a new place to stay; a new home far away from the incessant yesterday,
but I’m not moving. There’s a reverberate threat looming.
I can hear the bass keys of a piano thrum;
I know the time has come.

Got a new poem in the works. Should be up tomorrow morning.

You always knew the rules of gravity.
One to speak, and one to fortify a sphere of silence on concrete high above the cityscape,
to listen and light cigarettes with comprehension that a politic gesture to a question draws a galaxy;
you understood navigation.
How can you go when I need you most?

Thursday update on “Spilled Ink: Anthology”.
Current total of Submissions: 6. Current total of Submissions accepted: 1.
Submissions have been low, at this point. Being that we are only accepting unpublished pieces, this is to be expected. My goal is to have a book of 80-100 pages of words you will not be able to put down. A book you’ll hand out to friends when they ask “Why poetry”. A book that you will continue to read for years and years. Please, if you have that voice, wanting out … this is your chance.
I will be sending out rejection notices and acceptance notices every Friday.
Click here for more information on the book, and how to be included.
Do not hesitate to inquire within. - VBK
Poetry Den, thanks for the reblogs! I’m happy to see my older stuff dug back up
You guys are too cool. So, you know, thanks.
I suck at the whole gratitude thing, but it’s nice to see so many notes on my dashboard.
Dispersed
My old friend on the wrist ticks its discourse on beat, and I can feel myself dissolve as the tempo swings; -- Airlines and Thai food, slinking through alleys and speaking to the stray, then a cut. -- with it come fissures in memory I cannot hope to sew again. Islander diving, lobsters on the rolling waves shone emerald, miles from the coast of Florida. Then a pulse breaking shards in time. Now Texas is the forefront, and the days slide by grueling, locked in a hall. It's a feat in knowing how I got here, alone on a balcony above prairies and fresh paint.
I was raised with the belief that there is something in me, but age has taught me the intricacy of truths. False appearance is a mantra by which I must live. Come too close and I will push back until you fall open on the rocks, to be swept up by those who would do you better.
