bout 30 minutes into the new descendants movie and already it kinda fucks. they clearly went in knowing "yeah we're just throwing things at the wall to see what sticks so we might as well have some fun with it" and they ARE. everyone's hamming it tf up and even though the cgi doesnt look real it's got some kind of stylization that at least makes it not eye-bleedingly bad. they're on movie 5 they know disney's just throwing money at them so they're like "okay they wanted hetbait so it's with uhhhh a fucking madrigal idgaf. the dodos are steampunk and the flamingos are made of roses. red's time travel somehow fixed her parents' marriage enough to get her a whole-ass sibling. listen to this bop of a villain song and then suffer through the 'group hates each other but has to work together' song. the cheshire cat is awkwafina"

I just finished Descendants 5 and one thing i am SURE of is that Luis Madrigal’s father is Maui from Moana.

Everyone said his enhanced strength made no sense since that’s not how magic in the Madrigal family works, but very few considered the fact that the magic was GONE at the end of the movie. Which implies that rather than Luisa having strength, his father does.

Luis in “Did You Hear About Them” says he has a tattoo of one of his adventures— which then proceeds to move just like Maui’s do.

In the same song, he sings about his exploits alongside Hazel Hook. What does that remind you of?

Furthermore, he tells Red when he saves her in the mad house “I’m partial to gracias, but I accept thank you”.

HE WAS LITERALLY TRYING TO GET HER TO THANK HIM SO HE COULD SAY YOU’RE WELCOME.

Also, this is more of a reach, but on his suit jacket at the end of the movie during the tea party, there’s what looks like a sun stitched into it. But looking at his original costume, it’s more likely to be a smaller version of the Madrigal candle.

Robbie Hood should’ve gotten the Savanaclaw treatment. Giving him Fox ears / a tail would justified his appearance in the movie smh

max's crash out was incredibly valid. what do you mean he lost his dad and has to accept it because it all worked out for red and chloe. i was incredibly stupid to think that the story would put everyone back to where they should be and have the message of family doesn't always have to be who you're related to as maddox was all red had but oh my gosh that poor boy. he was absolutely valid. i hope memories of both realities come back to maddox so max can have the dad he lost.

Since we had to sacrifice Ever After High to the fairytale retelling gods can we keep making new Descendants movies until it reaches Once Upon a Time levels of unhinged?

Shoutout to Disney’s Descendants for having the most vibes based worldbuilding I’ve ever seen in my life. Legitimately thinking about any of it for more than two seconds makes everything crumble apart logistically and I think there’s an art in that.

Why does my special interest have to be Disney’s Descendants, but specifically the politics and the ability, or lack there of, to make the movies, books, and TV show work in the same continuity. They are out to get me specifically.
