Hey yall I just wanted to come on here and bring some attention to what’s happening at the detention center (really a concentration camp) Delaney Hall in Newark, New Jersey. There is a hunger strike going on right now to protest the abhorrent conditions within the camp (allegations of torture, maggots and other bugs in the food, etc) and protests happening outside the camp. ICE is not allowing any politicians to come in (as is their right) to see the conditions of the camp. With everything else going on in the world, it can be hard to keep up with stuff going on at home, but ICE is still out here terrorizing innocent people. We must keep our eyes on them, and keep fighting.

their needs are changing rapidly, they mostly need Sudecon wipes and gas masks, last I heard, but the only way is to bring them directly there. for the most part they are asking people to join them there and hold the line, if possible. next best thing is to donate and call NJ reps to demand an end to the detention and torture!

hello ! YES! I feel like I reheat Rulfo's nachos all the time aahjajjf. Before I wrote about angels, I would usually write about ghosts and my ghosts were very inspired by Rulfo's. Pedro Paramo inspired a lot of the way that I write about death and home too, I feel. Tell Me How I Die takes a lot of inspiration from it, like the non-chronological narrative, the ghosts, and a little it of not knowing whats real or not : )

Asks saying you're rubbing off your colleagues but the truth is men have always been homoerotic with each other since the beginning of time. I have been having fun with your updates but I've also been thinking about that quote from Marilyn Frye's essay because a friend sent me the quote recently haha

"Heterosexual male culture is homoerotic; it is man-loving."

There's more to the essay that's relevant but I think of this whenever something gay with your colleagues happens

Yeah! I'm actually decently well-read on this because I wrote a theory on militarized masculinity for a paper that I need to re-do the empirics for skskks

There's a lot of good literature on how heterosexual men perform primarily for one another (even sexually) and it's really a horrible, violent patriarchal thing rather than something funny tbh. Jane Ward is a fantastic scholar in this, and her lesser known book Not Gay: Sex between Straight White Men is great! Highly recommend if anyone is interested. (Her better known book The Tragedy of Heterosexuality is also fantastic but it may make you extremely heterophobic )

Its one of those topics that really fascinates me about men, in an academic way (and in writing, I mean my dark academia book touches on it a little). That said, my colleagues are generally "woke" and literally social scientists so theyre more aware of this behavior but still do it and thats where the amusement comes from for me skskks
