where do you usually find pose references?

if I've not got a specific pose in mind beforehand, I'll skim through my "drawing references" board on pinterest and make a collage of a few photos that are similar enough to one another, but still differ in subtle way, which offers a variety of angles go at it from.

but if I do have a specific pose in mind beforehand, I'll just go on Google images and look up, like... "hands on hips stock photo", and find a couple of decent references that I can at least use as a foundation to build upon. same thing goes for porn--i'll just look up whatever pose I'm trying to replicate on Google images and go from there!

I have a confession to make... I've yet to watch the Dune films 😭

BUT, I plan on doing so, because my answer to your question is YES, I would! in fact, I've been thinking about doing so 👀 I just think,,, it'd be neat if Stilgar had a liddol guy to romp around in the sand dunes with 👉👈

I'm mad as hell rn because I have like, 20 other screencaps that I could be using as additional comparitive examples but Tumblr said nOOO 😤 how dare they inhibit me from gushing about Carmen being Anton's mini me!

specifically like how do your poses look so expressive but realistic

AAAAAAAA omg, thank you for the compliment!! I'm flattered that you think so highly of my art 🥹 it warms my heart to know that so many other fans of Anton/Javier Bardem's other characters (as well as of Javier himself) regard my work as worthy of such praise!

I can't tell you how glad I am that you think the way I pose the subjects in my pieces is both realistic, yet expressive! that's something I often find myself struggling with when I draw, because maintaining that dynamacy as you continue to work on a piece can sometimes be hard, and more often than not I'll be unhappy with the end result of a piece because it'll feel too stiff due to my having gotten carried away whilst polishing it--so, this serves as a huge boost to my confidence in my work!

as for the poses themselves, I usually pull up a photo reference on my laptop to glance at as I work (I draw all of my digital art on my phone), because having what is essentially a visual guide to the human body and it's complexities while drawing the human body helps a LOT. references are an artist's best friend!

nowadays I don't have to use references as much because I was essentially studying anatomy when using them and drawings bodies sorta feels like muscle memory, if that makes sense?

yes, I am still on my bardemiller bullshit, and am currently hyperfixated on the sorta/kinda crack ship that is Javier's portrayal of Max Cady in AppleTV's Cape Fear (he's so 🥵) x a version of Sam Bowden who we've casted Jason Miller in the hypothetical role of.
