Probably been done before, but hereâs a prompt I thought up today.
âââââââââââââ
The Justice League was too late to stop the ritual summoning a powerful entity called the Ghost-King. Legend has him a tyrant, a being who destroyed and enslaved all he could reach.
The ground glowed a dangerous bright green light, blinding the Justice league.
Squaring up to fight this fabled foe, the Justice league open their eyes to-
Thats Batman.
What-
Why is Batman in the circle?
Heâs definitely not the Ghost-king.
âŠright?
âMeanwhile
Danny is so happy that the ghosts decided to only attack during non-school hours. He hasnât done this well in school, since, well, ever! Heck if he knows why the ghosts changed up the schedule, maybe it was his super persuasive skills?
Shut up Sam, he can be very persuasive.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Tl:dr
Danny is, in fact, the ghost king, but 1. He doesnât know that, 2. Heâs too young in any age to be king, so 3. His biological father has been designated regent until then.
Batman now has to figure out why in the world heâs now being summoned as ghost-king, so he can get some actual work done without being summoned every 5 minutes across the world (and by his kids).
You know what I just thought about? Deaged Dick. But you know what would also be funny? Deaged Dick being raised by Danny. This could go two ways: adult Danny; or a teenage Danny. Maybe the rest of the Phamily thinks Dannyâs been cloned again.
Either way, drama ensues when the Batfamily realizes Dick Grayson has mysteriously gone missing.
Could someone point me to a prompt Iâve been looking for? Basically, Dick Grayson gets de-aged and found by team Phantom. They think theyâre adopting a ghost-baby, but Dick pulls the uno-reverse adoption card.
The boy, who had Damianâs face, couldnât be more different than Dickâs (alive?) baby brother.
Aside from his Snow White hair, he smiled and laughed freely, making puns on top of his embarrassing story about his supposed twin brother. Â
(âClones donât have childhood memories right?  So if I have an embarrassing story or two, thatâll give you a way to check that Iâm not a clone AND give you ammunition for teasing!â)
ââAnd thatâs how his faceâand his prideâwas forever wounded by Sparta the warrior cat!â  Danny finished his story with a flourish, cracking up immediately after.
âHuh, and to think he left it at âtrainingâ, obviously he didnât think anyone would let the cat out of the bag.â  Dick said, laughing even as he eyed the lookalike.
Danny snorted.  âYeah, I doubt he thought anything as Cat-astropic as that would happen.â
They sat in silence for a moment, overlooking the buildings below, with the Dalv. Co. Labs smoking in the distance and the breeze blowing past the two, yet only seeming to affect Nightwing and not the phantom beside him.
âIs he safe?  Is he happy?â Danny murmurs as he looks up at the stars, looking every bit the forlorn ghost he claimed to be.
ââŠWe keep each other safe.  And Iâd say once he got past the stabbing faze, heâs pretty happy in Gotham.â
âBut Iâm sure itâd make him happy to see you again.â  Dick thought back to the comments the vampire-ghost theyâd fought earlier.  It didnât sound exactly, âhappyâ or âsafeâ for Danny.  Or anyone else involved.
Danny shook his head.  âNah.  Heâs⊠moved on.  And with how crazy my after-life is?  Iâm already dealing with ghosts, ghost-hunters, and myâerrâthat frootloop from earlier.  I do not need to add furries and murder-ninjas to the mix.â
Danny sighed as he floated into a standing position.  âSpeaking of which, if you could just, maybe not tell him you saw me?  Better to let dead dogs lie.â
Dannyâs piercing Lazarus green eyes looked at Dick and he saw the exact same expression B had on whenever he âhad to do it aloneâ.
âJust, take care of him, Kay?  Or Iâll haunt you to the ends of the universe!â  He said, throwing up a peace sign as he turned invisible.
Dick snorted, âYeah, sure kid.â
Dick got up and started off toward the bat-plane.  He had a brother to interrogate, and another brother/clone of his brother to find.
Whenever Damian thought of his twin brother, he thought of his kindness. His fascination with the stars, his willingness to take the fall for Damian whenever sick or hurt animals were found in the compound. His aversion to killing or torture, which thought of as a weakness in the league, Damian had secretly admired. He thought of Danny talking him down from mistakes he knew Damian would regret.
He never thought the positions would be reversed.
Yet there his somehow alive brother was there, standing over an already bloody Vladimir Masters with rage-filled cold eyes and a knife in hand.
âYou should leave, Dami. Before things get too messy.â
Jazz has a job as a shrink in Arkham.
She can already feel the many, many curses that lay beneath the building trying to drive her into madness.
She needs to let out some steam, redirect the misplaced aggression the curses keep feeding her.
So she joins an underground fight club.
It works beautifully. She lays out people by night, takes none of the winnings to make sure that no one has a grudge against her, and she's calm and professional during work.
Also it's a great workout.
Well, until her precious fight club is interrupted by some of the shadier bosses throwing Nightwing at her feet, demanding that she kill him.
She's not going to do that, of course.
What she's going to do is unleash all of her liminal strength to buy the man time to...do something. He's one of the bats, surely he has a means to call for help.
Can you imagine, Phantom, a superhero that's already dead, a memeber of the justice league, looking the same as the day he died.
A kid, and an adult by years, born 24 years ago, but he will be always a 14 year old.
He laughs, he jokes, he's full of energy, full of life, but he's dead.
He plans, he fights, he strategize. He's very mature for a teenager, he's still a teenager.
And he's dead.
He's a dead kid walking on the streets, oncw a year he celebrates his birthday, once a year he goes back to his tomb, sometimes his family is already there, crying, mourning the child next to them, the child that will never grow up, sometimes it ia already too late and he's there, asking himself how would it feel to grow up.
And then, one day, the villain of the month strikes him with a strange ray as they scream about scond chances. Panthom, who was intangible, somehow, gets hit by it.
And when he opens his eyes, he's still a kid, with his ghost powers buzzing under his skin, a rage under his fingertips, determination all over him while he breaths for thw first time in 10 years.
He's a dead kid, always fourteen who now has, one more time, a heartbeat.
DPxDC Prompt where Nocturne manages to escape the Zone once more and finds himself in a much larger, gloomier city than Amity. He decides to bide his time and be careful, slipping seamlessly through dreams without leaving a trace.
That is, until Nocturne stumbles across Bruce Wayneâs youngest son, a boy who resembles the Phantom whelp in far too many ways. The memories he finds in the boyâs dreams fill him with gleeâ knowledge of secrets that would rattle Phantom to his core.
With how he favors protecting the living, Nocturne never would have expected the whelpâs own kin to be the person who stole his last breath.
Nocturne prods at Damian Wayneâs memories and dreams. Nudges haunting images of the whelp to the forefront, mixing ambition and anger with his visage. Plants a worrying seed to encourage the Wayne boy to doubt and seek.
Whispers the name Amity Park until it ghosts across his lips in his sleep.
If Nocturne cannot fight the ghost child, then perhaps the one who killed him can.
When Phantom joined the Justice League, he wasnât prepared to be approached by Batman of all people. He had been warned to not take everything Batman says to you personally, but that he was a great hero.
Batman had a request. A simple one, at least according to Batman. He asked Phantom to meet an anti-hero who had come back from the dead and had some ⊠nasty side effects.
Phantom, intrigued, agreed. Batman set a time and place, and Phantom showed up. But, Phantom thought Batman had said the one in the red helmet was the undead.
He doesnât understand why everyone freaks out when Phantom approaches the vigilante with half a cowl dressed in black and red. This boy reeked of death, did Batman seriously not know?
Guys, I edit professionally. This list is legit. Incorporating these suggestions before you hire an editor will save you A LOT of money. Even if you did these and nothing else, youâd see significant overall improvement in your work.
That said, you donât have to overthink these things when youâre writing a first draft. If you write, âshe said angrilyâ in a first draft, you can always revisit the phrasing in a second draft. I mention this because overthinking style can lead to a loss of momentum, and losing momentum is why so many people never finish a draft. Give yourself permission to write fast, write messy or ugly, and edit your draft into beauty later.
Lex Luthor had sent a representative for LexCorp, instead of coming to Vlad Masters himself.
Rude, but smart.
But this imbecile canât seem to hold a simple business conversation! (No ghostly interference needed) Starring at his most recent attempt of a bust of his dear Madeline, (a good improvement from his previous endeavor, but even Vlad will admit itâs⊠slight imperfections. If only he could capture her essence as well as he does her idiot husband! At least those give him some stress relief.)
âI apologize for boring you, however I do happen to believe these major details are rather important.â Vlad growls.
âI- I apologize sir, but if I may ask, where did you get so much kryptonite?!â The representative chokes out.
Tl:DR, Vladâs machines make kryptonite as a byproduct, which he then ice sculpts into Jack Fentons head. Imagine this, if you will.
Danny finds out about Batmans contingency plans and is 100% on board and supports it.
The rest of the JL is confused
"Didn't I tell you about the alternate timeline where everyone I loved died and I went on a murder spree? Because that happened. And also I've been mind controlled before, not fun. He needs plans to take me, us down."
In the Danny is Damianâs brother trope what if instead of Damian not telling the family about Danny wasnât because of grief or shame or any of the more commonly used reasons for his silence. What if it was because he heard about how his father talked about Jason after his death, focusing and exaggerating the negative. That he was violent, angry, never listened to orders but in some iterations and popular fanon is that Jason was a cheerful and studious Robin.
What if while compiling info and researching the former robins during his tumultuous introduction he saw what kind of robin Jason was, good with kids and victims. Talking about his favorite books while on patrol and similar. Reminding Damian of his most Beloved brother.
Then he finds out about how Bruce talked about Jason after he died. Using him as an example as what not to do, erasing his good traits and just using him as a cautionary tale of what happens when you donât follow orders. Just like what Raâs said about Danny.
So he didnât tell the family, not out of guilt or grief. But because his father stripped away Jasonâs positive traits after death, the son he chose, adopted and loved. Who when he failed because he was a child led astray by his mother. What would he do to his brother, who loved the stars and excelled in stealth, who was quite in his kills but had no lust for killing.
Whether or not Bruce would do this to Dannyâs memory doesnât matter. Bâs actions are gonna affect how Damian views his father even years after the initial actions. Because Damian will protect his brothers memory from being twisted even by their father.
Basically, the Batfam find Danny after he had to chase down one of his villains, (idk who) and after the whole reunion of Danny and Damian (âYou had a whole twin brother, and you didnât tell us?!?!â) they realize that Danny is beyond exhaustion. Like, Tim-when-heâs-on-the-third-consecutive-world-ending-crisis exhausted, and is insisting he heads back to Amity Park. (âWhat if my parents realize my sisters ecto-contaminated? What if they tell the GIW?!? What if Pariah Dark wakes up again?!? What if Mr. Lancer does another pop-quiz for half the grade?!?! I canât miss another pop-quiz!!!â)
Damian logics his way into Danny taking âJust twenty minutes, weâll wake you if anything happens, promise,â nap, which winds up with Danny being down for days. By the time he wakes up,
1. His father now has his and his sisters (Dani, too) custody and at the Manor.
2. The GiW has both the Justice League and public opinion against them. Also, most of their bases have mysteriously been razed to the ground.
And 3. The Anti-Ecto Acts have a ton of people wanting them repealed.
Oh, and Vlad Masters is also being taken to court under allegations of election fraud, mind-controlled business partners, and abuse of a minors and cloning.
The flash for the fist time in forever stop moving. No twitching. NO moving his leg up and down. No running back and forward to the cafeteria for snacks. He was completely still with his jaw open looking past Batman who at the moment was giving the league members an overview of the missions that have been happening within the past month. Immediately everyone locked in, Flash not moving major red flag. Batman caught it first and proceeded to turn around in a split of a second and froze (caught of guard) this caused the other league members to slowly turn their heads and eyes away from starring at the Flash. And they couldn't believe their eyes.
Superman had his jaw dropped.
Flash was pointing and unable to form words the only sound escaping his mouth was vocals "aa" "ee" he was over all gobsmacked.
Not like the other leagues were fairing any better. It's just that their eyes could not make their brain correctly process what they were seeing. And what they were currently seeing was a teenager with white hair with a box of donuts and drinking something out of a coffee cup. Now this is the watchtower everyone has seen teenagers from various backgrounds to say the least enjoy their coffee and snacks. That wasn't the problem. The problem was that the teen wasn't one of theirs. Not that it really matters Batman.
What actually matters is that the kids outside. IN SPACE. How is he surviving. How isn't he dead? Is he an alien? Then why is the box of donuts from earth?
And the kid has the gull to smile sheepishly?????
---
Danny only wanted help. HE SWEARSS. And the Justice League wasn't helping after they had been spammed with calls for help against the Ghosts. Amity parkers think that the JL has banned them from making calls. So Danny decided if they won't come. He will go to them, but his parents did not raise a disrespectful child the Fentons maybe break tax laws and driving laws and overall all OSHA regulations. BUT THEY NEVER DISRESPECT (unless warranted) ANYBODY. And Danny wasn't about to misrepresent them. So he brought a box of donuts and his fathers homemade fudge in hopes to make some sort of slightly good impression.
So taking a breath in (as a force of habit) he knocked on the watchtowers window and didn't become intangible and go in until Wonder Woman nodded with her head yes.
Batman was side-eying WW, but Danny decided that Wonder Woman had more decision power in this instance.
So with the approval that he may come in Danny made himself (and everything else) intangible so he could enter. Once inside he realize that Jazz had been correct in telling him to at least know how he was going to approach the subject.
He placed the treats on the table and made a gesture that they could eat. He took a sip of his hot ecto and then he opened his mouth.
"Why are you guys hunting us down for sport? w-we are people too"
Danny said it in such a broken voice with teary eyes. He really should have practiced first.
The JL choked.
