camp fam as furries headcanons

Darius:

fursona animal is a dinosaur (obvs) probably something like a gallimimus

he’s been making dino masks from scratch (ish) since he was 8 years old and he loved the crafting aspect

finally commissioned a full face dino fursuit head when he was 16-17 and got a dinosaur tail a few years later

Brooklynn:

even though she’s kind of afraid of birds, i feel like she’d have a macaw as her fursona. so pretty and bright and blue

she has the most expensive and fanciest full body fursuit. the commission cost her about a thousand dollars

her fursona has half its left wing amputated

Sammy:

has the cutest cow fursona

the fursuit head is accented with pink bows and little fur hearts

Yaz designed her fursona for her

she has little cow hooves and a tail

Yaz:

isn’t big on gear but has a black cat therian mask and tail she got on Etsy

got into it when she was 16

draws everyone else’s fursonas

secretly a therian but doesn’t talk about it much

Kenji:

has been a grey wolf furry since he was 13

(TW ANTI FURRY) his dad found a wolf fursuit head in the mail and threw it out because he did not like that Kenji was dressing up as an animal (END TW)

it took him months to feel brave enough to tell the camp fam, but they were all supportive

has since got a new wolf fursuit head

is also a therian. he and Yaz talk about it sometimes

Ben:

ankylosaurus furry

if not, he’s something unusual like a bug like a dragonfly

he’s always been a Weird Animal Kid /lh since he was young but hid it due to his dad being Shitty

his fursuit head is a commission but everything else is scrappy and homemade

and the camp fam all go to cons together

This project was created with a thank you in mind.

To Scott Kreamer, Zack Stentz, and the Camp / Chaos Crew. Thank you for all the love and dedication that went into Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory. Parts of the community came together to recreate this moment between two beloved characters. Yasmina and Sammy offer something rarely shown in [kids/YA] media: a well written queer & normalised relationship, treated with care and complexity.

And as a personal message: Both Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory mean a lot to me, especially Yasmina and Sammy. They managed to bring back my passion for drawing which I thought I had lost years ago.

The show arrived too late for me to guide me through my queer journey. But it brings me so much joy to know that is helped a lot of young people on their journey, the way it would have probably helped my younger self.

My one note on S4 that might become a fic

Instead of having Brooklynn appear in the elevator to save them, Sammy and Yaz narrowly make it to the elevator and end up making out and THATS how Brooklynn finds them in the elevator.

Like imagine Brooklynn finding them as they clearly break apart when the doors open and she just glances at them, raises an eyebrow and adds sarcasm:

"Broken up, huh?"
