Hey, what's up! My name's Wren, and I write stories. Check out my Star Wars stories here, both with canon characters and with my OC kids! We do not support clonecest here AO3
Welcome to my Star Wars blog, where I will post various ramblings, fics, the occasional thoughts and OCs content. Here's a master post to get you started.
Main blog @wayward-wren. Other stories, both fanfic (not star wars) and (hopefully) original content focused @words-with-wren.
Useful tags.
Anything I write, be it OCs or canon characters, will be tagged with #my words
AO3 links:
Desert Birds Fly in the Rain: My Jango Fett/Shmi Skywalker fanfiction that is slowly a work in progress. It starts a little before the Clone Wars begins, with Jango running into Shmi on Tatooine, and continues throughout the War, changing the course of canon because of course it does. Anything related to that, chapter updates, ramblings or answering asks about it will be tagged under #Desert Birds
Second Chances: A Probably Abandoned (sorry) fic diverging from Canon after the beginning of Clones Wars season 6, in which Rex, Kix and Jesse save Fives' after Fox shoots him and smuggles him off world. Anything Related to this will be tagged #Second Chances. (But again, it is likely not going to be continued)
Other AO3 stories:
Goodbye: A rewrite of the final scene of the Wrong Jedi.
I Have Failed You: A character study of Obi-Wan after the Phantom Menace and his relationship with Anakin and Qui-Gon's Legacy
Order 66 Feels: A collection of short works I did to work through various emotions related to Order 66. Including: Good Soldiers Follow Orders Parts One and Two: Stories from the Clone's pov of Order 66. Children of the Force (thoughts on the children orphaned), Aftermath (Ahsoka and Rex at the end of it all), and Leaving to Let you Go (Kix and Jesse and losing a brother)
Ongoing Stories.
Name Pending: My OC story, exploring the lives of Vyena Ru'wan, Jebrin Veer, CT-3377 "Buttercup" and Reechi Kii. The crew is thrown together near the beginning of the Clone War and find their place in the galaxy together. All posts will be tagged with #pheonix aliit (until I figure out a proper name)
The 236th - Kill Batallion: Some stories I was playing around with exploring what Pong Krell's Batallion would look like. All posts will be tagged with #the 236th
Other Tags
All my posts will be tagged with the story they're set in and if they have any OCs the format will be "oc: [Name]"
Other tags to be aware of include:
#short story: this will be short stories/one-shots I throw out.
#unwritten story: story ideas I want to play around with but likely will never write
#ask prompts: stories I wrote because of an ask prompt.
#answered asks: as it says, asks i've answered, be it expanding on a story or not
Hopefully this is a useful master post! If not, well, it is tumblr. I've done my best 😅 A lot of these stories are from a couple of years ago, so they're probably out of date and my writing has (hopefully) improved since then. Either way, I hope to continue writing more and engaging with the fandom again! If any links are broken, please let me know!

What up guys, chapter four of Second Chances is out!
I am merging this blog with my other writing blogs.
I’m not going to post on here anymore, instead all of my writing is going to be posted over @words-with-wren
This is because I have way too many sideblogs and my stories are scattered all over tumblr. I want to have them all in one place, and words with wren is going to be that place!
I spent the day fixing it up, putting most of my stories over there and making it easy to navigate. I’d love it if you checked it out! I’m going to continue posting stories like Second Chances and the Shmi/Jango one, but I’ll also post marvel stuff and various other fandom - or original character - works!
I’ve been wondering about this for a while, but I’ve recently decided that I have way too many tumblr sideblogs, specifically for writing. I tend to start a new sideblog, keep it active for a bit and then abandon it for a new fandom or whatever.
So I’m going to combine everything into one writing blog, over @words-with-wren
I’m still going to be posting the stories I have been here, Second Chances, Desert Birds, various OC stuff. But I’m just going to be posting them over there, along with various Marvel stuff, and whatever other fandom I’m into at the moment!
I’d love if you guys went and checked that blog out. I’m going to be doing a big rehaul of it, fixing it up and making it easy to navigate, and probably reblog a whole bunch of stories I’ve posted on other blogs there!
Meet Nata! He’s a mando mercenary who’s somewhere between Bo-Katan ““Only wears her helmet in battle” Kryze, and Din “Never Nude” Djarin. he hardcore believes in the old ways of killing Jedi, but you might have some difficulty figuring that out because he EXCLUSIVELY refers to them as wizards, and lightsabers as star-swords. It’s not that he doesn’t know what they’re actually called, he just thrives on being annoying.
He’s 6′6 easy without his montrals, jacked as hell, very pretty, will not hesitate to kick your ass, and carries a regular slug throwing glock at all times in case he encounters anyone wielding a lightsaber.
He was alive during the clone wars, and at one point he was hired to track down the bad batch and recover Echo for the techno union. He didn’t.
I love your fics!! I’m new to the tumblr side of sw fandom so I just wanted to say hi and possibly make some friends with other fanfic writers lol, so hello!
Hey! Thank you so much! I’m actually also pretty new to the fandom, even though I’ve loved Star Wars my whole life (i tend to stay out of fandoms tbh XD) But I’m always down to make new friends, and have always loved writing :) Good to meet you!

Hey guys! I finally posted the first chapter of my Jango Fett/Shmi Skywalker fic! I have a lot of plans for this, and I’m excited about those plans!
So Wookieepedia says that Jango Fett saw the clones as nothing more than business. They were a job and that was all.
But he raised and trained 100 kids into soldiers over almost 10 years. He saw 100 kids every day for almost 10 years and he was in some way responsible for them. Yes, it might only be because he said he would, because he’s being paid, but after that amount of time you start to care whether you want to or not.
You watch these kids-with-your-face grow into adults-with-your-face. You’ve known them their whole (short, so short) lives. They look up to you, you trained them, taught them everything you could. And you don’t care at all?
Are you sure you don’t care? Or is that just what you tell yourself so you can sleep at night, knowing that they’re all going to die? If you can convince yourself you don’t care it won’t hurt as much when the inevitable happens. It won’t matter when they die because you never gave a damn in the first place. (That’s a lie, but it’s not one Jango lived long enough to have to face.)
Sure, one defected and you tracked him down and killed him. And then you felt so guilty you immediately set up a trust fund to take care of his son, even though you didn’t have to. That’s not the hallmark of a man who doesn’t care, that’s the hallmark of a man who only says he doesn’t. One who’s trying to save himself from the pain of yet more loss in a life already filled with it.
Step 1: it’s just a job, you’re getting paid well and you got a son from it. You Do Not Care about the clones.
saw his family get murdered in front of him at the age of 12,
saw his father figure die in front of him at 14 thus making him the leader of their people right after,
in his 20s Dooku and a group of Jedi literally killed his friends and comrades
and then sold into slavery, by the dude who tricked the Jedi into committing a war crime.
That’s not counting Montross killing his only friend or having to kill Zam in order to bring the Jedi to Kamino because George Lucas wanted to set the mood for his clunky romantic dialogue…and move the plot along.
I’d be afraid to get too close to anyone who I was essentially sending to the slaughterhouse…and also looks exactly like me if I was five inches taller.
In essence, Jango was a damaged guy who tried to pretend he was unattached to the clones in order to save himself more pain.
Hey guys! I haven’t been super active lately because University is starting to wrap up and getting busy. Things are starting to settle down now, so expect more writing!
However, I do have about four different projects I’m working on, and I’m not really sure which one to work on first! If y’all wand to vote on what you want to see most, I’ll try to get a new chapter/story out within the next few days.
https://www.strawpoll.me/20326210
In the meantime, I saw a fun ask game that I might dig out and answers some asks for between working on assignments!
Moments after Anakin walks away from Ahsoka and so takes the first of his last steps down the path that would lead him beyond saving, he hears the cooing hoot of a convor and feels talons piercing into his shoulder.
Next thing he knows he’s in a desert of dark sand following ghostly voices that lead him to the sight of an older version of his former Padawan confronting a figure cloaked in black.
Maybe he was brought there just to observe but when he sees Ahsoka under threat he does what he’s always done when someone he loves is in danger, he charges ahead and deals with the consequences later.
OR
Instead of future Ezra it is an Anakin days before his fall who sees Ahsoka’s fight with Vader. And instead of pulling Ahsoka inside with him he crosses the border of the portal to join her in confronting something that will turn out to be his worst nightmare.

Assignment is being a pain and I need sanity, so chuck me some more prompts to write in between crying about this assignment! Once again, a random word and a character, canon or one of my OCs!
Been thinking about this for a while, but anyway, here’s a rough rewrite of the Sequel trilogy, expanding on some of the ideas I actually really liked about it and improving on other ideas. Feel free to add on or suggest other ideas to expand on if you want! Sequels fans, if I say something you don’t agree with please just scroll past. I don’t want to deal with arguing over whether or not your ships are valid okay? Okay, thanks.
This gets long, so stuff are under the cut. Main points are; the First Order, Palpatine, Kylo Ren, The original trio, Finn, Rey and other thoughts. (I accidentally posted this like twice cos tumblr shortcut keys kept sabotaging me)
First Order
I’m not the biggest fan of the idea that only 30 years after Return of the Jedi another huge empire has risen and enslaved everyone again. So I propose that the First Order is just a small but rapidly growing surviving group of the Empire. They’re just now starting to get a lot of power and are becoming a big threat - largely because all the kids they kidnapped and brainwashed are now old enough to send into battle and take over planets. The New Republic is getting very worried about them, worried enough to start having some decent skirmishes etc. We don’t need a rehash of the Rebellion, the good guys being the underdogs etc. but I do think the First Order needs to be a threat.
Palpatine
I’m not opposed to the idea of Palpatine coming back - not the biggest fan of the idea, but it has happened in legends and it doesn’t seem likely that he wouldn’t have a backup plan. The problem I have is the way he was introduced, thrown in as almost a last minute thought. Hint at him coming back, at a greater power behind Snoke, at someone more powerful, bigger, better, evil. And then the reveal in the last movie of the trilogy is much more satisfying. (also round Snoke out a little more, or make it clear that he’s just a minion)
Kylo Ren
Okay look, I love redemption arcs, but I really Do Not think Ren’s was done well. He was made out to be a victim even though he chose to leave behind his loving family and chose the darkness and I’m not a fan of that. Either commit to the darkside, or consider this idea:
Ben Solo, being the first and only grandson of the chosen one is naturally very powerful in the Force. Palpatine, who is the mastermind behind this trilogy, like all the others, knows that he’s not going to be able to turn Luke or Leia at this point, so when Ben is born, he sends his minions to steal away the child. Ben is raised as Kylo Ren, believing his family abandoned him and being encouraged to worship his grandfather/Vader. His pull to the light is much more a pull to who he really is, and it makes him much more of a victim we can empathize with since he was stolen away from his family at a young age and raised in captivity to be a Sith. He can still kill Han, who is still trying to reach out to the son he had just found again, but that action, instead of solidifying him in the Darkside, makes him even more torn because it really does seem like his family loves him. And yet he was raised to believe they had cast him aside and abandoned him. (Palpatine through Snoke be like ‘they saw the darkness in you and refused to believe there was anything good in you’ or something)
This way the redemption arc can be much more believable, and he does survive and has to deal with the aftermath of that, because while we’ve had Dark Side users be redeemed, none of them have had to face the repercussions of what they’ve done.
The original trio
Leia and Han stay together because I said so and even though they have problems and issues they work through them like any healthy relationship. That being said, they’re not always together - Han is off yeeting around the galaxy with Chewie, and Leia is being badass in the new senate, rebuilding the galaxy. Ben being stolen away from them does put a bit of a strain on their marriage, but ultimately, they grow closer because of it. Leia’s insistence and never giving up on her son is what brings him back to the light in the end. (I like the idea that she survives, because then she and Ben can slowly rebuild their relationship and whatever)
Luke... okay I’m in the camp of very much disliking what they did with Luke in the sequels. I refuse to believe Luke “there’s still good in him” Skywalker, Luke “I won’t fight you father” Skywalker, would try to kill his nephew. Maybe he left and hid away because he blames himself for Ben being captured, maybe he’s still around and setting up a new Jedi Order. Either way, he can also be insistent that his nephew came come back to the light because he saw it happen with his father. I’m not sure exactly, I just know I don’t like that they did with him. Y’know what, I know nothing about her but let’s throw Mara Jade in for funsies.
Finn
Finn is hands down the best part of the sequel trilogy. I honestly wouldn’t change much about his story except to make it more of a focus. I would love to explore what being a stormtrooper was like, what it did to him when he escaped. I would love to explore him and Jannah more, how other stormtroopers left the first order. I’m not even necessarily in the Force Sensitive Finn camp. Yes, it would be cool but also - he has an awesome story already, he doesn’t need to be a Jedi.
Rey
Once again, I like Rey, she just wasn’t executed well imo. I love the idea of feral desert child being abandoned by her family and growing up on her own. I love the idea of her being Force Sensitive and slowly growing into being a Jedi. Just... a more streamlined and planned out character arc would have been better, and probably less Kylo Ren.
The only thing I would say is that she is definitely a Kenobi. Obi-Wan is her great-grandfather on her mother’s side (Obi-Wan is her mother’s father’s father and yes I mean Korkie. I think the timeline works). Heck, we could even still have her being a Palpatine on her father’s side, I don’t mind hugely, she just needs to be a Kenobi. There’s always been a Kenobi to the Skywalker, and having her be the Kenobi to Ben’s Skywalker I’m okay with. Just... not sure of the dubious romantic relationship. Maybe if Kylo is less of a ‘boo hoo I’m torn between the darkside and my loving family on the lightside’ ‘victim’ and more of a ‘i was stolen from my loving family and raised in the darkside but now I feel the pull to the lightside but I’ve done so many horrible things so how can i be good and I”m confused’ victim I’d be more okay with it.
Other Thoughts
More Rose. More Rose Tico. I’m down for a full blown Rose/Finn romance. Just.... make her larger character! Rose is great and deserved better. Poe is cool enough, I don’t really have that much of an opinion about him except maybe be less of an idiot who gets people killed (my brother really didn’t like him after Last Jedi). Also Leia basically adopts him. BB8 is perfect.
The Force Diad thing I’m not opposed to, I kinda like the idea of being bound together through the Force like that (though I kinda thought that’s what a Force Bond was, but oh well). Exploring that idea could be fun, in a platonic way between Rey and Kylo. Or even Luke and Leia. On that note, more Force Sensitive and understands the Force but not Jedi Leia. I have no problems with Force healing, that’s something that’s had whispers of in previous canon I believe.
Get rid of Starkiller base. It’s a rehash of the Death Star, and making it more powerful than the Death Star removes the impact of Alderaan etc. I’m not even going to talk about the ‘planet destroying star destroyers.’
KIX. Even just a background cameo. I want some Kix. Him and Finn bonding would be great but probably wouldn’t happen outside of fanfiction.
I think those are my main thoughts. The sequel trilogy started off reasonably well, and had lots of potential to be good if it had just been planned out. Feel free to suggest other ideas and help form my canon of what happens 30 years after Return of the Jedi. Maybe I’ll write some fanfictions following these ideas one day.
I should be working on assignments but I needed to write something because I’ll never be over Mustafar. (please don’t tag as any kind of ship platonic feels only here)
__
“You were my brother, Anakin!”
The boy was over eager to learn, and far too quick to please. Obi-Wan wanted to dislike him, at first. He wanted to dislike the child he had been given charge of, the boy he had never wanted, had only taken on out of love for his dying master. He wanted to dislike the boy his master had thrown him aside in favour of, the boy Qui-Gon’s last words had been about.
(What about me, Master? Wasn’t I good enough to care about as you were dying? Was I really that much of a disappointment that you tossed me aside as soon as someone better came along?)
But he couldn’t. Anakin was too eager, too excited about life, too damaged from his hard childhood for Obi-Wan to not warm up to him.
He woke in the night from nightmares. The first time Obi-Wan found him, curled in his bed was the first time he saw Anakin as just a boy - a child cut off and adrift, with no one in his corner.
Obi-Wan knew he wasn’t the right person to train him. That was supposed to be Qui-Gon’s job, but seeing this child, so lost and lonely and afraid, Obi-Wan knew he would do what he could. He would try, he would try so hard, even when he knew he wasn’t equipped, even when Anakin didn’t listen to him, rushed foolhardy into battle, reminded Obi-Wan far too much of Qui-Gon as he questioned the wisdom of the council. He would try, even as he failed.
“I loved you!”
The Clone Wars raged across the galaxy and Obi-Wan found his world turned upside down again as he changed from a peace-keeper to a general. Anakin was knighted, and somehow, that lifted the tension between them.
No longer master and padawan, they fought alongside each other as equals. Obi-Wan’s need to correct Anakin turned into a want to guide him, to show him a better way when there was one.
Back to back, side by side, Obi-Wan couldn’t think of another person he would rather have beside him than the young man he had watched grow up.
(Maybe Qui-Gon. But somehow, Obi-Wan felt the war would have been avoided had his master survived. Obi-Wan hadn’t been able to fill the void he had left, had let him down and let down the whole galaxy.)
Obi-Wan returned after facing Maul, battered and bruised and the aching in his heart he had carried since Naboo somehow stronger. Anakin hadn’t said anything, hadn’t needed to say anything. He had simply pulled Obi-Wan into a hug, comforting him, reminding him he wasn’t alone.
“I hate you!”
The words burned into Obi-Wan’s soul as he stood on the rocky shore, the heat from the lava blending sweat with his tears. The words burned into his soul, making the ache in his chest almost too much to bare, the reminder of all he hadn’t been able to do even sharper.
Anakin’s lightsaber weighed heavily in his hand as he staggered up the slope, the cries of the man he was leaving behind echoing in his ears. Anakin was burning, burning and dying and Obi-Wan had done that to him. Obi-Wan was leaving him to die.
His vision was blurred with tears as he stumbled through the rocks of Mustafar, Anakin’s cries a sound he would never forget. He had done that.
The boy he had watched grow, had raised. The boy he had raised and guided and trained and fought along side. The boy, the padawan, the friend, the brother. He was gone. Replaced by a monster, left to die on a burning planet.
(I was never good enough. How had I ever thought I was able to train the chosen one? I failed. I failed the moment I let Qui-Gon die. I failed the moment I took him on as a Padawan. I failed in so many ways. I would never have succeed. I was never good enough.)
Anakin’s agonized cries followed Obi-Wan as he left his brother to die.
