Being Gentle With Myself: Where I’m Choosing to Begin.
When I was asked what theme I wanted to work on in the coming months, my first instinct was to name everything—confidence, discipline, emotional regulation, boundaries, consistency, healing guilt, deal with rejection, learning to trust myself again. I wanted to fix it all at once.
But the more I sat with the question, the clearer the answer became.
I need to start by being gentle with myself.
Gentleness is not indulgence or letting myself off the hook. It’s creating an inner space where growth comes from steadiness and respect, not fear or self-punishment.Â
When I’m harsh with myself, everything becomes reactive—I overthink, overwork, and try to prove my worth where it was never questioned. One mistake, and I spiral into guilt.
Gentleness interrupts that cycle.
It means acknowledging effort without immediately demanding more, allowing learning curves, and accepting that accountability and compassion can coexist.
From here, everything else can finally grow. 🌱
