The fan-made crew of the USS Pluto, the Federations's prototype temporal science vessel.

Ensign Dubar

Dubar's father is a freighter captain, and he grew up taking supplies in between Bajor and Cardassia. Has one sibling, a younger sister named Kela. Dubar has a natural talent for language, which is good as the universal translator doesn't always work (despite Starfleet's assurances) and especially when they're going back to ancient times, the language isn't always the same. Is super excited to be the first linguist to listen to really old languages, though he probably won't show it. Doesn't like violence unless it's absolutely necessary. Looks intimidating but is actually quite friendly. Awkward, like a puppy that hasn't grown into his feet. Dubar is incredibly clumsy sometimes, and too strong for his own good. Fear can paralyze him, leaving him useless in a dangerous situation. He's terrified of dying and usually chooses flight over fight.

Lieutenant T'Elsa

T'Elsa is a Vulcan, but doesn't follow the teachings of Surak. She balances logic with emotion and manages to function pretty well, despite the disdainful looks of other Vulcans. She's the chief of security, and she runs a pretty tight ship. T'Elsa is rational and calm in the most horrible of situations, and will attempt to lighten up the conversation if it becomes too pessimistic. She's often questioned the Starfleet bureaucracy, which worries the admiralty. She looks rather young, but with the ageing of Vulcans, she's most likely much older. T'Elsa's somewhat of a legend at the academy, as she holds the record for most classes taken in four years.

Lieutenant Phoebe Caulfield

When Voyager’s Doctor returned from the Delta Quadrant with the rest of the crew, he brought with him his mobile emitter. Twenty ninth century technology. The universe didn’t blow up from a temporal paradox because it took four hundred fifty years for the engineers at Starfleet to figure out how the damn thing worked. In 2803, Phoebe Caulfield, an holographic engineer working for Starfleet, was the first to be equipped with the duplicate. She originated from a Catcher in the Rye holonovel owned by a wealthy human family. As she became sentient and discovered there was more than her reality, she applied for Starfleet. Her ingenuity allowed her to become a more than competent warp specialist, and she helped design the UTS Pluto. The ‘Holographic Glass Ceiling’ as she puts it, doesn’t allow her to be promoted, even though she’s been working for Starfleet for one hundred and fifty years. The danger of her program being tampered with makes Starfleet very, very nervous.

Doctor Corona Rexx

Corona is enthusiastic and optimistic. His alternative view of medicine (that it's an art, rather than a science) lets him discover the answers to difficult medical problems. He's irreplaceable and the perfect CMO. Corona is part Bolian and part Andorian, an odd combination. He often enjoys speaking in elaborate metaphors, confusing those around him. He forms relationships with people quickly, a very social person. However he can be quick to judge, determining someone's personality after a first impression. Corona lived on Earth before being deployed to the Pluto, and has a more expansive knowledge of Earth culture than anyone on the crew.

Lieutenant Commander Rosaline Barclay

Her parents are big fans of Shakespeare. Rosaline is young, only 22 when she’s assigned to the UTS Pluto. Grew up very privileged, in one of Starfleet’s military families. Her father is an admiral. Descended from Reginald Barclay, a well-known officer. Traveled a lot when she was younger, had a private tutor. Rosaline excelled at math, physics, and piloting. Best pilot in the quadrant, graduated early from Starfleet Academy because of it. Quickly rose in the ranks, becoming a Lt. Comm (not that her dad being an admiral didn’t help). Loves space more than anything else. She’s extremely loyal to the Federation, and her father. Spends a lot of free time reading and watching old scifi movies/shows. Craves physical contact, hates being alone. She’s aggressive when frightened or angry. Thinks that there’s many things worse than death.

Lt. Commander Ornak Tennen

Tennen is the youngest child in a family of five kids. Parents run a restaurant in Hathon, one of the most populous cities on Bajor. Was really quiet as a kid, spent all his time reading about the Cardassian occupation of Bajor (is now practically an expert on the subject). Hero-worships Kira Nerys. Because of her, he decided to join Starfleet. Tennen's love for science translated into him becoming a science officer. Very professional on the job. Polite, the perfect subordinate officer. Scared of Klingons and space walks. Believes that honesty is the best policy. Prefers staying in his quarters to going to ship-wide celebrations. Has to be prodded to speak up, even on matters of his own jurisdiction. Not used to being in command of an entire department. Despises combat situations.

Commander Loch

Loch is a Vissian cogeniter, taken from the Vissian homeworld by a betazoid woman, outraged at eir treatment. Ey was raised on Betazed, but felt slightly ostracized there as ey had no telepathic powers. Goes out of eir way to make sure others don’t feel as left out as ey did. Originally was a psychologist for Starfleet medical, but switched to the command track early on. Loch can’t help but to psychoanalyze people, but ey (thankfully) doesn’t do it out loud. Ey’s calm, rational, and optimistic. Loch is much more approachable than the captain, and people tend to talk to her through em. Ey writes in eir spare time, usually about the people ey meets. Loch doesn’t like to talk about the Vissian homeworld.

Captain Miriam Jackson

Put in command of the UTS Pluto at 46 years of age, Miriam Jackson is wise and widely respected Captain. A true representation of the Federation at this point, she’s a mix of several alien cultures. She’s half human, one quarter Betazoid, and one quarter Klingon. She began in Starfleet as a security officer. She has one daughter, fifteen years old. Her name is Danelle, and she wants to be just like her mother when she grows up. She has a gift for music though, and Miriam doesn’t want it to go to waste. Miriam is known for her unorthodox methods, and the bonds she makes with the people that work with her. She was captaining a ship before the Pluto, but they thought she was the best woman for the job and transferred her. She has respect for life over everything else, and will never kill unless it’s her crew or theirs. She doesn’t like cowardice, thinks that serving the Federation is their first and best duty, and it’s an honor to protect it.

Countdown to 2014

Starting tomorrow, there will be eight days until the new year. There are also eight senior crew members on the UTS Pluto. Do you see where I am going with this?

Starting on December 24th and going until January 1st, I’ll be posting in depth biographies for each character every day. It’ll go in order of seniority of course, starting with Captain Jackson and ending with Ensign Dubar.

First Post!

Welcome to the blog dedicated to the fan-made concept of Star Trek: Prototype. The UTS Pluto, a temporal science vessel, and her crew will travel through time and space, going where no man has gone before.

Her crew: Captain Miriam Jackson, a highly respected, strong willed woman who is known for her unorthodox methods and her calm demeanor in times of crisis.

Commander Loch, a Vissian cogeniter who grew up on Betazed. Ey is rational, optimistic, and easy to approach, making em the crew’s voice to the Captain.

Lieutenant Commander Ornak Tennen, a Bajoran temporal scientist. He’s polite, hard working, and prefers staying in his quarters with a history book to going to the mess hall.

Lieutenant Rosaline Barclay, pilot and descendant of the famed Reginald Barclay. Her family has loads of political power, and because of that she trusts the government blindly.

Doctor Corona Rexx, Bolian physician and psychologist. A jovial and enthusiastic man, sees medicine as an art to be perfected. Gives off an aura of being trustworthy.

Lieutenant Phoebe Caulfield, a hologram and the chief of engineering. One of the first to receive a duplicate of the Doctor’s mobile emitter (even though it took 200 years to figure out how it worked).

Lieutenant T’Elsa, the chief of security. A Vulcan who has not followed the teachings of Surak. She is passionate, brave, and incredibly competent with weapons of any kind.

Ensign Dubar, Cardassian communications officer. He’s tall and intimidating, but he’s secretly very soft spoken. He dislikes violence and would be considered a coward by the rest of his kind.
