Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler!              Â
                        LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!
It’s Mardi Gras at Ginsburg! In addition to passing out beads and having free pancakes in all the dining halls on the day itself, Ginsburg University is throwing a whole Mardi Gras celebration. Beginning with a PARADE on Friday, expect to see huge, colorful floats making their way around campus, with jazz music and brightly-colored fashion on full display - don’t be shy about cheering along! Rolling into Saturday, the party doesn’t stop with a MASQUERADE BALL, where all attendees are expected to go all out - especially with their masks, which should be designed to cover their identity as best they can. There will be door prizes and a contest for best dressed! Recover from the night before on Sunday, with free brunch at the dining halls, and discounts at the restaurants around campus - time to stock up on your shrimp & grits, your etouffee, and if you’re of age, some restaurants also have a milk punch special. Take a walk around campus and enjoy the good times!
Out of character, feel free to participate in any of these events, beginning Thursday, February 27th at 6PM EST and ending Monday, March 2nd at 6PM. Dash interactions will be paused at that point, unless they pertain to the event (so feel free to post a starter referencing the parade or what have you). Laissez les bons temps rouler, friends!
Due to life kicking my booty all over central Ohio, I’ve missed not one but TWO monthiversary posts, which is...not great, but HERE WE ARE. We are sitting pretty at SEVEN MONTHS, and we’re still kicking. I was going to post a whole huge sappy post at 6 months, and then I didn’t realize until it was already February that I’d missed it. Whoops.
It’s been rough, I think for pretty much all of us, but we’re all still here, and that’s a little bit amazing. I’m really proud of us, and I can’t believe we’re past the half-a-year point. It really gives me hope and faith about this group.
I’ll keep it brief, because I have an event post coming (!), but just know that I think about all of y’all all the time, and I love you so much. Thank you for your perseverence and patience as I get my shit together.
Hi friends! Welcome to MEME MONDAY!! Every other Monday, I’ll either be announcing a theme and/or reblogging a meme post to the main. Involvement with this task is mandatory, failure to complete this task would result in an activity warning, with the exception of players who are on hiatus.
First Meme Monday of 2020 will be CONSTELLATION themed asks! THIS MEME is the starting point, but you can ABSOLUTELY come up with your own questions, especially if they lend to character development or drama or invite discussion on the dash. If it doesn’t work or you need help coming up with questions, feel free to reach out to the main!
No partners this week! But please be sure to give at least three to each character.
Evening, friends, syfam, lurkers and tumblr-folk! After the winter kicked my butt ten ways from Tuesday, I’m back, which means so is SYF! I just want to give the biggest of shout-outs to our members who kept the boat floating while my life did its absolute best to smush me flat. The best players in theeeee world live right here, if anybody was wondering.
Anyway, my being back means that school is about to begin for our dear characters! Folks have been arriving back for the spring semester for days, and by now everyone should be settled in and ready for their new classes, which begin January 21st, 2020. That’s TOMORROW! Good luck, kids, and as usual, keep an eye out for fun/exciting/intriguing nonsense right around the corner, because you never know what challenges college might bring...
I can’t wait to start 2020 with all y’all, for real. Thanks for being the best, and I love you.
Hey nonners! Thank you so much for your interest and this question!
We’d of course love anyone you wanted to bring to the game, since we welcome any named, canon Glee character. More specifically, I know I’d love to see Mike, Unique, Santana, Jesse, Kitty, Ryder, or my personal favorites, ANY of the Season Six Newbies!
If you have any questions, or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the main. Thanks again for asking, and I look forward to reading your application!
We currently have FIVEÂ players on a 24-HOUR activity watch. Failure to post or contact the main by MIDNIGHT, JANUARY 21STÂ will result in the following role being REOPENED for auditions:

ALISTAIR MOODY ( @alistairofginsburg )
JEFF STERLING ( @jjssterling )
HARMONY PEARCE ( @harmonypearceliterally )
MARLEY ROSE ( @ginsmarleyrose )

We currently have THREEÂ characters on hiatus and ONE character on semi-hiatus.
Due to failure to return from hiatus, please unfollow characters below and join me in wishing BEE and AUTY all the best:
@mottacommasugar at @startyourfuturerp is so much fun to have on the dash and Alaina is equally as fun to talk to ooc. Her Sugar is exactly how you would picture the character to be in her college years and I look forward to continuing to write with her. Â Â Â Â Â Â
The role of SANTANA LOPEZ has been REOPENED at the player’s request. Please join me in wishing ALEX all the best, and please unfollow the blog below:
SANTANA LOPEZ ( @letsgsantana )
As usual, if anyone needs a hiatus, please contact the main.
I turn 26 today! Which is very exciting, but only slightly more exciting than the fact that SYF is celebrating FIVE MONTHS of activity today! Five months! That’s almost half a year!!! I’m honestly, just, like. Shooketh. I’m so proud of my players for continuing to make this game and these people a priority, even with holidays and life being a tornado of garbage at any given point. I’m so relieved that y’all still want to play in my sandbox, and that the playing you’re doing is so fun and engaging and wonderful to read and write against.
We say it all the time, whether to each other or on confession blogs, but SYF really does feel like the Glee Games of Olde. I came to the community pretty late (thanks to mr mason mccarthy, my first and most idiot child) and only caught the tail end of games that really did feel like a family, the ones that made you want to stay up well past your bedtime to even just read the dash, nevermind writing yourself on it. I remember the very end of the plots and the writing and the camaraderie that came with tears and laughter and so much drama that, yes, was completely contrived and 8/10 times awful, but it was so good, much like Glee itself.
I’m so glad I found that again. I’m so glad the people in this game are themselves so supportive, funny, kind and generous, and write their myriad of characters in such a way that they feel human, that they make me and everyone else care about them. That’s what I think really got lost along the way - people stopped caring about each other’s plots and characters, which lead to ‘bubbling’, and everything else we complain about all the time.
So thank you, players, whether you’re brand new or you’ve been here from the time the game opened. Thank you for caring. Thank you for staying. Thank you for writing, for trying, and for trusting me and each other. It sounds silly and maybe a little overdramatic, but...it’s a real thing, trusting the people you write with. Trusting the people you talk to every day. I’ve had experiences where joining the group chat was like stepping into a minefield; where you knew there were sidechats and other layers of conversation going on; where chats were used to hype up the admins and nothing else of substance. Thank you for being a shining reminder that good writers and good people still exist in our little community. Thank you for stepping up and supporting me, and supporting each other, and being each other’s hype-squad. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I love each of my twenty-something children so much it’s silly. I hope you’re all having a wonderful, joyful and safe holiday season, and I hope you know how much better mine is because of all of you.

backstory:
Typically when someone sees Brody Weston, they thing damn, does that boy have it made. He’s gorgeous, he’s charming, he’s gonna get by in life just fine, and sure, he is all of those things. Yet, Brody really has always wanted to be more. No, he’s not looking to become something big or flashy, he knows that’s not really the life for him, but he has always wanted to be more than a pretty face. So, while no, he’s not always had the best grades, he’s worked hard and getting that college acceptance letter had to be one of the best days of his life.
Coming from a family of two children and one single mom, things have always been a little rough. He’s helped out when he could, tried to be a bright light in his mother’s very stressful days, though she never made him feel like he had to. His father left when he was just thirteen and in middle school, the man’s affair finally coming out into the open. Brody still remembers being woken up and going to the top of the staircase, hearing his mother yell at the man to never come back. Those were the types of things you didn’t forget. That night he watched a man he had once idolized turn into something of a monster in his family and for a while, he wondered how he was going to balance spending time with both his mom and dad. Yet, that wasn’t much of an issue since once he had left, his dad just never came back, not for him, not for his then eight year old sister, nothing. There was only his mother, though as Brody got older he realized they didn’t really need anyone else.
In high school, puberty was kind to him, giving him a charming smile and a body to catch eyes, though he hadn’t really thought much about it. He turned into an athletic boy, something he welcomed a little more when he learned there was a chance for scholarships when it came to sports. Scholarships meant less stress on his mother to actually help pay for college and if there was anything that could give the woman less stress, he was in. Sadly, he never did become good enough to get a sports scholarship. However, there was something he was good at, and that was sharing his story. So, that was how a young Brody Weston, good looking and kind, managed to get admitted into college and be awarded a decent enough scholarship to boot. Loans still had to be taken out and he still needs to work on the evenings and weekends, but it’s worth it if it means making something of himself and giving back to the people who mean everything to him - his family.
Sometimes coming off as cocky, Brody does have a good soul deep down and he genuinely wants to help. It’s just that at times that gets buried in his sarcastic attitude and inability to really reign in his own annoyance. Though not the sharpest tool in the box, he does try and that at least gets him past the threshold. An academic scholar he is not, but he gives it a lot of effort and he’s passing so, it’s a win in his book. While at Ginsburg, he’s going his best to be a part of campus life while still maintaining his grades and trying not to forget his reason for being there - which isn’t always easy to be honest. But as usual, he’s trying.
I can’t say enough about how well @ginsclarington is written. Every response from him is just as blunt and no-nonsense as you would expect from him on the show had he been given a better chance to interact with more of the Glee characters, so I’m grateful that we have Julia to bring him to life in such a realistic and entertaining way.      Â
