FMA 03 needs more credit.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE brotherhood - but I love the 2003 series just a little bit more. It’s always overshadowed by brotherhood - hell, I see fans all the time telling people to not even bother with 03, even though it got a lot of fans into fma in the first place.

03 is not only a unique anime, but it has such a unique take on the story. It is significantly darker than brotherhood, in my opinion it honestly turned into  a seinen. So many emotions and themes were portrayed in this version, a lot of wish brotherhood was too afraid to demonstrate. I have barely seen any action animes with sad endings, so it was a fresh breath of air to see this beautiful one.

I could literally write analysis upon analysis of fma 03. That’s why I always tell people to start out with 03 first, THEN go onto brotherhood. In my opinion watching just brotherhood is like watching only half of the story, for you get connected to the characters much easier in 03.
