It’s finally time to talk Star vs. the Game again!
So, it’s been quiet around Star vs. the Game for quite some time, and I am sorry for that. Game development is slow, man, and I couldn’t feasibly make constant updates when usually so little takes so long to make. Still, I could have been more transparent, and I apologize for that.
But, I’ve been working all this time, and I’m at the point where I believe I can start to talk about Star vs. the Game and show it off little by little, with a release date that isn’t long into the future. So what do you say we do just that?
My plan is to go into more level specifics in future updates, but I wanted to show how the game looks right now on a general level. You may remember this area from the very first gameplay video shown, and you may also realize that this place looks a bit different! I’ve been spending a lot of time going over old artwork I’m not as satisfied with as my pixel art skills develop. While I honestly can’t promise a totally uniform style since there’s just so much artwork I made over such a long time frame, I can say that the art will be stuff I’m happy with.
A new feature here is a score counter, which is something I was originally hesitant to add (And to be honest I’ll probably move it somewhere else, I’m not sure I totally dig its location right now...). Coins, of course, fill up that counter, and in between levels you can visit a little shop to spend them! More on that later.
Other updates include tighter combat and animations, adding a lot of little graphical details and such, and trying to make the game shine. I’ll show off some of these in a video update soon!
This is about the end of this update, but hey, just for fun, here’s a couple screenshots of some future things to come.
See you in the next update!
