“That is probably for the best. There are a lot of days where I miss sitting in the office and ordering field agents around. There’s something godlike about being handler.”

It wouldn’t be the first time he was questioned about his penchant for tweed, and he certainly wouldn’t expect an American to understand his love for it. As she continued, he decided that she was paying him a compliment–maybe. “It is a rare man who can properly pull off tweed regardless of the situation,” he agreed, clearly counting himself among the lucky few.
“Never thought I’d meet one.” She lowered her gaze demurely with a small smile. This Englishman was going to be amusing for about ten seconds and she intended to enjoy every second.
“Most men prefer their dark colors and pinstripes, but that gets old fast.”

“Aren’t I just the sweetest.” He straightened further at Mary’s approach, carefully adjusting his hand as her fingers dipped into the warmth of his pocket in search of the substance harbored within. He fought the faint flare of his nostrils before he curled his hand around the bag and withdrew it from the pocket to display. It felt like being caught red handed, he had been caught and no manner of excuses or attempts at bullshitting would get him out of any trouble he might be in. "Dealer’s name was Alvers.“ Pitching his tone low, Tequila spoke only loud enough for the two of them to hear. "Not entirely certain of the supplier.”
The bag was generic, as was the contents. One could never tell just from looking if the goods were legitimate or not. At the mention of the dealer, though, her eyes narrowed.
“I know an Alvers or two. Give me a description, honey.” She reached out and grabbed the bag itself, examining it for any sort of particular marking just in case. “It looks legit, but you never can be too careful. You’re the type of guy someone would hand tainted or diluted goods to without a second thought.”

“The moment you’ll t’stop flirtin with me” Whiskey cracked a smile at her statement and eagerly supplied an arm for her to hold. Having his hand still lazily tucked into his jeans Whiskey could pretend he wasn’t the one being used as arm candy. Then again he wasn’t about to complain, the situation was entertaining regardless. “I’m far too interested in the company t’worry about the money.” He cast her another cheeky smile and gave a light nudge of his elbow. There wasn’t a chance in hell he’d get back to simple gambling.
“Idiota,” she scoffed, squeezing his arm in retaliation. “You sound like my father when he turned fifty.”
Dark eyes roamed the floor casually, picking up details here and there, but nothing caught her eye immediately. There had been an uneasy atmosphere in the casino for days and it frustrated her that she could not pinpoint the reason. Hence Whiskey’s presence.
“What do you say to keeping that poor poker dealer company?” She tilted her chin toward the dealer at the far edge of the floor. She was pale and very stringy. Not ideal for the standards of the business. “Maybe she will actually like you.”

“Well,” she was grateful that she did have some choice bits of information on hand. She showed her the pictures and recording. She was hoping the older woman approved, otherwise she was going to get her ass kicked. “Work first, play later. I ain’t completely irresponsible.”
She watched the footage and then glanced at the recording without comment, though her expression spoke volumes. This was not good news for her operations.
“Fine, I’ll get you the tickets,” Mary declared after forwarding the footage to her own device. “But first thing’s first, will anyone of these assholes recognize you if I send you back over there?”

Full circle, of course things were going to come back to the fact that he dabbled recreational when not necessarily on the job. Easier then to just… Discuss in hopefully hushed voices, Mary was good at discretion when she wanted to be–they all were.
“The goods ain’t tainted.” Not this time at least. Subtly he shifted under he gaze, smoothing out his shoulders and straightening up his spine. “But y’ should come ‘round more often. You’re good company, m'am.”
“Charmer.”
She walked right up to him, slipping a hand down to that pocket he was trying to protect.
“You use, you tell me, Beau.” The tips of her fingers brushed along the inner lining of the pocket as she felt for the little packet. “I might be out of the drug business, but that doesn’t mean i don’t know who does and does not give you the right goods. So tell me: who gave you this?”

“Definitely disappointed. The hell kinda mission don’t let ya use that badass thing?” She was, of course, eyeing said axe enviously. Why didn’t she get a cool weapon?
“The kind that Champ obviously didn’t think through right.” She tapped the handle of her pickaxe, wondering idly if she ought to fold it back into its case now that their assignment was seemingly over and done with. “We should file a formal complaint.”

“Why’s everyone think those’re the only girls I get?” He watches as the gold flakes float in the clear liquid. Enhance the flavour. Interesting concept, but he wasn’t sure how much GOLD could enhance a flavour. “You ain’t trynna poison me, right? Like I know I fucked up at Poppyland, but… I’ve already been through my therapy, I’m good.” …he hopes.
“Papi, you really think I’d waste actual gold to poison you?” As a show of good faith, she sipped hers first, brows raised in challenge. “You know I don’t give a shit about what you did at Poppyland. It was dumb, but I never considered you smart.”

“I’ll have t’ skip the cards t’night.” While he said it with half a smile Whiskey knew better. Gambling was a vice he rarely allowed himself to get gripped by. The only ‘gamling’ he did now-a-days was pre-planned on the stock market. It was more of a calculated risk game than straight up trusting chance. “Not even lady luck can get my ass in those seats.” The sleazy smile returned and Whiskey easily slotted into a spot beside her. “How ‘bout you show me how it’s done?”
“How about you stop pretending you’re going to get anywhere with me?” Nonetheless, she slipped her free arm through his, not-so-subtly dragging him across the casino floor. “Be a good sport, Jack. At least look like you’re actually interested in losing all your life savings around here.”
