before he vanished in 1982, owens marsh was one of many teens attending hawkins high, but when he returned in 1984 that was all anyone seemed to know about him
they remembered a name matching a guy who looked him, just a couple years younger
while he was gone it was like the echoes of hawkins or whatever causes them, carved an outline of his place, but it blurred details and erased all the colors of who he once was
beyond his name, he remembers nothing about himself or his life, and he assumes he must have had family in hawkins, but no one has come to claim him as a son or a brother
no one else has been able to tell him anything and now, many people tend to avoid him due to the unnerving static that surrounds him
the static may cause mild disruptions in technology and it can be faintly heard when things are quite around him, but because people don't understand it, it just makes them fear him
he also has habits of being in places he shouldn't be, somehow knowing things he shouldn't, and unintentionally, he tends to draw the vulnerable (mostly kids) into dangerous situations
owens hates these facts about himself, but he cannot control it
he is trying to search for answers, so as he hears whispers in the echoes, divulging to him all the town's secrets, he writes them down in a journal, hoping there may be a connection or clue as to what happened when he was gone and maybe who he was before he came back broken
aside from dealing with his turmoil, he can be found helping out at the CherryVibes boutique, grateful, because Tara Sinclair had been the only person willing to hire him
he mostly does maintenance and restocking to avoid customer interactions, but he will man the register if it's necessary
