This whole album by Luke Reed is fucking brilliant, the best thing I’ve heard this year so far, hands down. I swear the whole record is perfect, the most pure expression of break-up record, dejection and wallowing I’ve ever heard. I haven’t even been through a bad breakup recently and I’ve listened to this album like 6 times and identified so hard. If you’re like me and like sad music with uplifting instrumentation that helps you feel embraced by invisible arms in times of hardship, this is the one.

I am exhausted, fresh from biking in the evening into downtown, one little dot of politely flashing lights amongst many. Sometimes before I do anything I say “here we go,” either internally or aloud to myself, to give that extra umph of courage to do the next task, to give it some intentionality and not delay another second. Thanks for writing such a beautiful song Jessica Hoop, this has me feeling real powerful about now.

Endless Age, by Innoko

listened through the latest album by my Delaware compatriots Innoko the other day. a really lovely record, so well done. I remember these guys closing out a basement show in Newark, Delaware in the summer of 2013, their folk-rock scuzzed out and distorted through my beer-drenched PA. The dudes glowing in sweat and a soft red light from the only remaining fixture of a few that I bought that morning from the Home Depot at duct taped around the basement walls. My favorite from this album is “Fernweh.”
