i keep thinking about this interaction and how euden calls edward out on the fact he ( likely ) overworks himself and edward just goes “my late master said the same” and doesn’t say anything about taking it a little easier / resting every now and then like. huh! does that mean edward really just left that topic on read. i’m certain that he would run himself into the ground because he’s so strongly dedicated to his job and has even said that a butler has no purpose without a master and it’s clear that it’s questionable whether or not he gets enough sleep last night like... he usually does take on enough, but i’m certain that if he took on too much, he’d dedicate himself too strongly with getting it done to the point he’d work ‘til he collapsed.

#* & hc.#all of edward's story revolves around his job and it makes sense considering his character but at the same time it's like. that's all he is.#i feel like his entire personality revolves around the idea of a perfect butler that it didn't grow into anything else. he's just a butler.#like there's other traits that shine through but i feel like the intensity of his dedication makes it like...#so hard for him to want to relax whatsoever. like he really does everything he can with his job and then some #and his quotes do mention that hes like ''maybe i was made for butlering'' but like. it's an exhausting job i'm sure
