Hot Take: If you’re going to be a teacher, you have to like kids or teens.
You have to like kids WHEN THEY’RE BEING KIDS. You have enjoy the weird little moments and the big angry moments and the need for attention. You have to like swimming in the hormone ocean and the 12 personalities a day. You have to like being anywhere from a tiny, insignificant blip on a few students’ radars to the most important person other students see.
You can’t just like kids when they’re nice to you, or cooperative, or paying attention. You are working with tiny mammals who are learning to be people. Kids who come from many backgrounds, many situations. Kids are not worse than when you were growing up, our society is not more evil and crumbling around us. “Kids weren’t like this when I was growing up,’ yes, they absolutely were.
The things I see on Facebook about “kids these days” are responses to the systems being built around them. The minimum wage stagnation and the rising costs of goods and services mean families have to choose between food or pencils. “But they have those new Jordans!!!!! Checkmate!!!!” I’m sorry, do restaurants have signs that say “no pencils, no shirt, no service?” Do you need pencils to walk your little brother to school? Give the kid a damn pencil!
In conclusion, @boredteachers can shove it. @teachermisery can shove it. Those “Your kid is the reason I drink” glasses can shove it. If your problem is the paperwork, then say so. If your problem is your administration, then say so. But don’t take those issues out on the kids. If the actions of your kids truly shock, annoy, and horrify you, then leave the profession. “Kids these days” need “teachers these days,” not “back in my day” educators.
me (cleaning up): holds knife
intrusive thoughts: what if-
me: ok edgelord we get it what if i slit my wrists right now can we please just focus
Additionally; me: *waiting for the subway* intrusive thoughts: what if you jumped me: it would cause a four hour delay while they pick your body parts out of the rails you fucking prick, can we please for once get on public transit without going through this
Also; Me: *walking along a busy road* intrusive thoughts: What if you just fell over in front of this truck? Me: It would back up traffic all fucking night and probably hurt a lot of people you prick.
Gosh. I never have thoughts like this
didnt ask but that sounds nice
Me: *walking down the stairs* Intrusive Thought: I could throw myself down these flight of stairs and leave more time for everyone else! Me: Or you end up with a broken wrist and sprain ankle you dickhead keep walking
Me: *driving on a bridge* Intrusive thoughts: I could just drive straight into that lake and finish it right now. Me: You asshole, this is a new car. Just fucking keep going like everyone else you prick.
oh my god,^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I needed this
Me: *standing at a lookout* It’s so beautiful here…
Intrusive thoughts: yeah, look at that view, you could just step out into it and you’d probably never feel the impact when you hit the ground 20m below…
Me: Bitch, don’t ruin the view for everyone else. Fucksake.
Me: *doing literally nothing*
Intrusive thoughts: What if-
Me: Can’t you just shut the fuck up and chill for once? God damn
Me: I wonder what my wife wants for dinner?
Intrusive thought: a divorce
Me: Now, Timothy, that’s just uncalled for. You can’t even eat that.
Me:* pouring tea*
Intrusive thoughts: you shoul-
Me: pour the hot tea on myself? God fucking chill out I just want some tea edge lord
Okay but thank you for this strategy for dealing with intrusive thoughts. Excellent.
alcohol culture is so wild…people all over fb will be sharing a meme like “i can’t have just one glass of wine, it’s always 2 bottles and 3 people i can never look in the eye again” as if that’s normal? but if a meme like that was going around about cocaine or any other drug, everyone would be like “sounds like a drug problem bruh”
alcoholism is SO normalized and it’s such a toxic environment honestly
hilfreiche vorschläge, danke
Its time to try defying gravity I think ill try defying gravity and you can’t pull me down
Ramad Chatman, a 24-year-old man was found not guilty by a jury of his peers but will serve seven years in prison. That’s American Justice for black people. He was wrongfully convicted of breaking and entering for stealing a television worth $120. It was his first offense , but he was sentenced to five years’ probation, because…you know why. Later, he was a suspect in a convenience store robbery in 2014 and he didn’t even know about it. Never was arrested for that. In 2015 he found out that he was accused of a crime he did not commit and decided to go to the police to explain everything, but he ended up in jail. WHILE THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE HE DID ANYTHING.
So Chatman went to trial. Jury found him not guilty, but it seems like the judge really wanted him in jail… Judge revoked Chatman’s probation and sent him to jail. Now Chatman must sit in prison until 2022.
He is a victim, not a criminal.

I don’t care how many times I see this I will always reblog it
Stop spending money on war and lies and start spending it on ways to make this planet better.
Gina Rodriguez tagged [Melissa Fumero and I] in this Facebook post, and was like ‘I’m so proud of these Latinas that are killing it!’ And I was like, ‘Oh my god! I guess I’ll friend Melissa.’ And we were friends on the internet before we even met in real life. Now, I had a google alert for Brooklyn Nine-Nine because I had auditioned and then gone for a screen test, and then gone for a second screen test, and I was waiting to hear… And I had a google alert, and it came up that Melissa had been cast in the show. And I was so happy to see a Latina on the show, but also so devastated, because I knew… I knew there was not going to be any network that would cast both of us as ensemble leads on a show. So I cried a lot. And I was devastated. And I showed a couple of friends at the time and I was like *imitates crying noise*, ‘I’m really happy for her but I really wanted that show.’ It was like two days later when I got the call, and I was gobsmacked. The world is fucking changing. And it’s such a testament to the show that they cast both of us! And not only us, but also Terry Crews and Andre Braugher – two black men in positions of power. It was sort of an amazing thing to see. But yeah, now me and Melissa are real life friends.

Honestly I have no idea why this never comes up in conversations about immigration… the U.S. literally creates these conditions around the world.
