Different standards?

So I’m talking to my friend and he mentions that he’s sometimes a little hard on himself in how he speaks about himself, just as I am about me. While I’m ready to jump in and agree with him that he needs to speak more positively about himself, it feels a whole lot different to accept that I should follow the same rules. I mean, I know myself, and I know just how much less than perfect I can be, so it doesn’t seem like we’re really comparing apples with apples. But I now realise that I should be gentler with me too, and be ready to forgive and start again.

God is a bit like the bones in our body: we know they're there, even if we can't (usually) see them directly, and we can see and feel the effects of having them, as they strengthen us and hold us together 💕
