I recreated Robert’s will from Season 1, You Win or You Die. And it took forever to do! Since you only see a portion of Robert’s will on screen, I had to recreate the rest of Ned’s writing myself from scratch. Trying to maintain consistency with the parts you can see was no walk in the park.
Also, since there were several versions used in the episode, I used the spacing and structure that can be seen on the version held by Cersei… before she rips it up… (“Those were the King’s words!”) I also used the show’s phrasing of formal titles so it doesn’t include the Rhoynar.
Just for kicks, I made two versions of this piece. One that gets as close as possible to the show and another where I included Ned’s title as ‘Warden of the North’. Will also do a book version soon, so stay tuned.
As for the seal, I took some liberties since you don’t actually see it on screen when Ser Barristan Selmy takes the letter.
Instead of using the standard Baratheon sigil you see on official merchandising etc, I decided to go with the stag you can see on the Baratheon banners during the Tourney of the Hand in episodes 4 & 5 of Season 1…
As for the colour of the wax seal, I originally went with what the book says which was yellow but when I tried the seal on the yellow wax… it just looked terrible so I went with gold instead. As you can see, I went with two different shades of gold: a more classic gold on the left and a more amber/honey gold on the right. Which gold do you like?
I have the first version I did which I don’t want, I will post it later this week on my etsy shop for anyone who wants it.
