it’s something so simple, really. for all that’s happened up until now, it shouldn’t bring forth the reaction that it does, but — kate can’t help it. those two words halt everything. she blinks, wide eyed, as the flush creeps up her neck, into her cheeks and nose. “ CASSIE – ” she doesn’t even know what to say, honestly. “ i’m — compared to you, that’s hardly… ” what she’s trying to say is there’s no doubt in kate’s mind that if words like amazing were going to be thrown around between the two of them, it should be directed towards cassie, no doubt. “ how do you manage to make me completely forget everything my sister taught me about public speaking?? ” she teases lightly, a quiet laugh leaving her lips as she shifts closer to the blonde.
Cassie’s excited grin turns smug as the flush sprawls its way across Kate’s features. She hadn’t even know she could cause that kind of reaction in someone--let alone Kate Bishop--but god, she’s never been more glad in the entirety of her life than she is to know she has that capability. She chuckles, bumping shoulders with Kate but wishing she could do more. Hold her hand, kiss her cheek, just be closer, anything, really. But she doesn’t want to rush into this. An absent, teasing finger, trips its way along the bridge of Kate’s nose, following the line of blush down her cheek. “I’m not the public. I’m just me.”
