Also someone posted their lovely art here involving flower languages so I was inspired to post my piece with significant flowers too!
Me & my husband - my character (Marianthi) is adorned with an Arbutus branch, which stands for “only thee do I love”. My hubby (Yasu) wears a Dogwood branch, which stands for “love undiminished despite adversity”. The flowers can be representations as if they were their own feelings or their partner’s - e.g. he loves her despite the burden of her fae contract (necessary to constantly rebirth after a gruesome death, randomly becomes male or female, locked emotions, etc), and she loves & trusts only him despite her limited capabilities.
The jewelry they have would be a gift / representation of the other. She wears a Georgian Halley’s Comet paste gem brooch (these became super popular during the Halley’s Comet return in 1835, which happens every 74-79 years) while he has a simplistic bar pin with a red gem holding the dogwood flowers to his cape.
I modified their outfits slightly, giving her a Victorian bohemian garnet ring + wedding band with feathered incubus wings, and he has embroidered stars + planets on the cape. The bows, sleeves and lace design is larger on the ailionoa haute wear to give more of a doll, over dramatic look, like it’s consuming her.
