“C'mon, c’mon…” Maya muttered as she waved her cell phone around in various different directions. There had to be a signal somewhere in this sheep’s den! If she couldn’t call on help through her spirit channeling, she could still do it through everyday technology!
Apparently, she couldn’t, though (not even in the center of town!), and all her wandering around made it hard for her to keep track of where she was stepping. Before she even knew what was happening, she was tumbling to the ground in a flurry of limbs, having tripped over…
“Oh, great, not another one of you guys!” she groaned at the sheep, who was glaring at her. “Don’t give me that look. I’ve had it up to here with all… of you… uh…”
She trailed off as she noticed that she’d dropped her cellphone, and that this sheep who she’d been yelling at had picked it up in its mouth, dangling it by her coveted limited edition Steel Samurai cell phone strap, and, and…
The phone fell back to the ground, which was good, but the strap stayed put, which was bad! Bad bad bad! It was probably getting sheep slobber all over it, and what if that thing swallowed it?! Losing that strap would be worse than losing her actual phone!
But the sheep had no mercy. It paused for a moment to give her a look, a look of pure evil, before turning and dashing away.
“Noooo! Come back here, you mangy sheep!” she yelled, scrambling to her feet. “What are you going to do with Steel Samurai merch anyway?!”
She turned and practically accosted the nearest stranger who looked like he could beat someone up.
“You have to help me! That sheep is a thief!”
|| ♜ ┈┆⊱ The lacking of servants within this city meant that Edward now had to tend to his own shopping. He wasn’t too unfamiliar with the gesture, but it was certainly new. The Cereal Market especially, with an abundance of goods at a remarkably low price. So it seemed to Edward as he tried to adjust to the currency. (Mind you, math is not his strong suit.)
For the young man to walk out of the store with just a single bag of goods, well, it wasn’t too peculiar. He had only chosen the necessities he most wanted since arriving; a few flavors of tea, some snacks-- what made him most excited had been the metal box that had blown out cold air! Apparently it was made to sustain most food products, keeping them fresh and less likely to expire for a long time. Of course, with that discovery, he took the chance to purchase a carton of milk as well.
Looking accomplished for his first time running errands, he walks out of the market in stride with a small smile on his face. After a few rounds of getting lost, he was at least able to memorize directions to the Château.
However, it seems he won’t be returning to his room immediately.
He had seen most of what happened (Heavens, why must the city be overrun with animals), so when the girl had turned towards him with a plea for help, he took no time in dropping his bag of goods and immediately rushing off. ❝ Please wait right there, Miss, I will retrieve your stolen item! ❞
And with that, he ran in pursuit of that blasted lamb! It moved rather quickly for a small.... fluffy animal, but it wasn’t long until Edward was within reach. One wouldn’t expect a young man to tackle a sheep, but that was precisely what he did. ❝ Hand that over, you fiend! ❞ As he held the animal in a headlock with one arm, it reluctantly surrendered, opening its mouth and dropping the phone into his free hand.
❝ There! Don't resort to thievery ever again, you hear! ❞ He released his grasp on the sheep, and watched as it scurried away. He sighs, exasperated, then turned to return to the young lady that had called out to him. ❝ I apologize for the wait. ❞ A reassuring smile. ❝ Here is your... device back. ❞
