kids these days don't know what it felt like to be bisexual and wear a stupid as fuck hawaiian shirt in 2017
goodbye $200 helloooo 3 groceries
“not every character is bisexual” well obviously. some of them are lesbian
It is genuinely baffling how TLOU’s HBO show took every bold identifying factor of TLOU2 as a story and just… neutered it.
Ellie’s rage at the death of her father figure during a complicated time in their relationship, the rage that is the driving force of the story? The story that is about the cycle of violence? The way the game shows her hurting every remaining person she loves in her endless pursuit of revenge— just as Joel did, because it is a cycle that will never be completed unless broken? Absolutely neutered. The fact that she still smiles, jokes about Dina’s pregnancy (and is…happy about it?) that she kills people accidentally instead of intentionally, out of a newborn, ugly, raw hatred that she can’t seem to escape— congratulations, you were so worried about making her do “unlikeable” things that you’ve missed the fundamental point of the story you’re telling.
Dina’s bisexuality and proud queerness being ruined by lines that make her sound like a wishy-washy curious straight girl who practically “others” Ellie’s queer identity rather than being an equal partner who lifts her up? Absolutely vile mischaracterisation. Even just the fact they gave her a perfect salon blowout instead of her pulled-back, apocalypse-appropriate hair feels regressive and borderline pandering to the male gaze.
Abby’s muscles that she specifically built up with years of training and drive? The fact that in the game she is a hulking, threatening mass of a character to make her seem like a genuine physical threat to Joel, even if she didn’t have allies with her. That she exists in contrast to Ellie, her narrative foil, who is smaller and nimbler by design. That she is intentionally impressive in her size and skill, and isn’t just a child who got lucky in her pursuit for revenge? Nah. In the show she’s going to be a thin, short woman who stumbles around and runs for her life during all her first scenes in Jackson without putting up much of a fight. Way to make her more unique and interesting!
Oh, and now they’ve cast a cis girl as the actor for Lev in season three. Lev, the canonically trans boy, whose identity and gender is an important aspect of his character. To me, it’s all the more insulting that they didn’t even cast a cis boy, although truly there is no excuse for not simply casting a trans actor from the start. Especially when there were several candidates who would’ve been a perfect fit, and they’ve ruined so many other beautifully diverse aspects of the show.
Feel however you want about the game’s sequel or the franchise as a whole, but to see such bold storytelling themes go to waste for whitewashed, easier-to-swallow slop is so disappointing.
if u draw a muscular, big nosed, butch woman as a petite button-nosed femme i think there’s a special place in hell for u actually and i hope both sides of ur pillow are always moist and warm
finally chipping away at rivals stuff ive wanted to draw....i was too busy playing the last month to get around to anything 😭
the funniest thing about the x-men is that sure, there are a plethora of canonically gay x-men— but the most popular relationship, with the gayest old men you’ve ever seen, aren’t on that list. like sorry what do you mean those two divorced old queens with a deep untouchable bond are allegedly straight???
(shaking my 14-year-old self) I was so mean to you but I love you, I love you, love you

Whenever I feel like hope is lost, I google "tarantula saved from burning building" and read all the stories about firefighters rescuing one of the world's most hated animals because they're someone's pet and it doesn't matter if you're scared of spiders or think they're gross, their lives have worth and they deserve to live just as much as any other pet
the stranger things finale was great actually and i’m gay don’t @ me

we’re gonna be ok btw
it’s ok if you’re scared. or tired. or unsure. or one million billion other complicated emotions at once. but i’ve decided things are going to be ok anyway. and i will hold that belief close to my heart no matter how scared or tired or lonely or depressed or one million billion other things i am. i will hold onto that. and if you’re scared, you can hold onto me. we can carry each other through
