Caroline enjoyed the day with Lark–she really did. But for some reason the conversation they’d had that morning, with the uneaten pancakes, bothered her. She didn’t want to push her friend, especially when she was having a rough time fighting with her best friend. It was a long shot, but she could try and see if the other party in that particular conversation could shed some light. And so, she’d driven into town and found herself knocking on Steffi’s door. “Hey,” she smiled slightly. “Are you busy at the moment? I was wondering if I could talk to you.”
“I am busy, actually,” Steffi answered. She was a busy person generally speaking, and how aimless she’d been feeling lately only made her all the more determined to make sure other people knew that she still had plenty to do, thank you very much. “You can talk to me though,” she added, moving aside for Caroline to come in if she so chose. She didn’t love doing that before finding out what exactly Caroline was here for, but at this point her curiosity was outweighing her current bad attitude. “What did you want to talk about?”
