@stella-zinzin
“How about some room?” Without much forewarning, backpack is carelessly tossed over into the bar area. Rose hops up on the counter, before swiftly swinging her feet over to the other side. Sure, she was twenty minutes late to the shift. Not that it was much out of the ordinary when the boss was out. Hands go to wipe off any imaginary dust, before glancing at her co-worker. “You taking orders? I’ll gladly turn myself into a chimney out back if you’ve got everything covered for now.”
Stella laughed and nodded, “Yes, go ahead. I got it.” she said cleaning some glasses.
“too bad,” he shrugged, taking another sip of the beer. “unfortunately, i think it’s a little late for that,” he shook his head, not offering much more information than that. “well thank you, that’s very kind.”
Stella raised her eyebrows and nodded, if he didn’t want to talk about it she wasn’t going to pressure him, “Seems like you need it.”
‘ yeah, it’s definitely a possibility. ’ she said with a nod. the girl’s question caused her teeth to press together, a sharp inhale to be taken as she had to think about it. her brows furrowed and her fingers tapped against the pool chair. ‘ uh, i think this month makes it one year and six months. i could be wrong because i’m horrible at math but yeah, i think that’s right. ’
“Oh, wow.” she said “You have been here for quite some time, anything I should know?” she asked the girl.
humming in the back of his throat, blue leaned up against the bar as he looked at her–getting into a more comfortable position as they talked. it was nice to have light conversation, considering the day at the pool he just had.
“you might be right, mate, but a bet is a bet and you better believe ima keep true to me word!” he gave her a cheeky grin. “a heart was the only sticker i could find on this fuckin’ ship! i was hopin’ for somethin’ a little cooler, though. got any suggestions for next time?”
Stella laughed at the boy and shook her head, “Maybe like a shark or something a little more masculine.”
tj snickered before moving the bottle towards his lips. “i suppose not, unless you can find a way for me to make money for the rest of my life without working…or being a criminal.”
“Well, I do not think I can do that.” she said laughing a little. “How about not be a criminal.” she said putting a drink in front of him, “On the house.”
blue paused, eyebrows furrowing at the blondes words. the joke went right over his head, as most slight innuendos or light teasing did. “what? if i had gotten it a little lower, then i wouldn’t have been able to show it off! no point in actually doing it then, right? ‘sides! i’ve gotten tons of compliments on it already!”
eyes narrowing in thought, blue brought the cool beer to his lips to take a drink. only after he swallowed did he speak again. “wait, what does gettin’ a tan tattoo have to due with bein’ a fifteen year old girl?”
Stella laughed and shook her head, she couldn’t tell if the boy was serious or only joking. “I mean, I just thought only fifteen year old girls did that, but it looks beautiful. Could you only think of a heart?”
‘ if you’ve been to the cinema or even the pool before there’s a chance you may have seen me. i work at the cinema and spend eighty-five percent of my free time here. ’ the length of time was an exaggeration, no doubt but a grave amount of her time there.
“I think I’ve seen you here before, I like to come out here and read or just relax.” she said looking out, “So how long have you been here?”
❝ you’re a GOD SEND, really. ❞ mickey replies with a grin before taking a sip of his drink once it’s handed to him. ❝ hopefully you don’t have a long night in front of you. or did you just clock in ?? ❞
“That is what I like to hear.” she said jokingly. “No no, I’m almost off the clock actually.” she said making herself a drink.
“–and so me mate and i got into a little bet to see who could hold their bevvies down the longest last night. it didn’t end well for the both of us, but i definitely lost. might be australian, but i’ve never been good at holding me liquor.” blue grinned crookedly, stroking away the condensation from the cold glass of beer in his hand. “since i’m a lifeguard and all, me mate had the idea that i should put a little sticker or somethin’ on me hipbone to see if i would end up having a little tan tattoo.”
without prompt, blue lifted the hemline of his tank top, proudly showing off the small heart shaped spot on his freckled hipbone. he always tanned easily during the summer, so it wasn’t much of a surprised that it actually worked. “i reckon it’s like havin’ a tattoo without havin’ to pay for one! ain’t it cute, mate? think ima do this more often!”
Stella raised her eyebrows and nodded, “You should’ve got it a little lower.” she said jokingly. The girl sipped her drink before saying, “Also, I don’t think you should do that anymore, unless you turn into a fifteen year old girl.”
“ah, that’s the best part, then.” he states, letting out a small laugh.
“Where do you work?” she asked making herself a shot.
it was one of her only days off for the week, and as it appeared many people also had the same idea of coming out to the pool. her things were sitting on the chair beside her and at the woman’s sudden question on sitting beside her, a grin covers nina’s lips. ‘ yes, of course. ’ she said, sitting up to move the bag she’d brought from the chair.
Stella lays down on the chair then looked over, “I’m Stella, you looked kinda familiar so I came over.” she said laughing a bit before sipping her drink.
