Ā Ā his hardened stance and gritted features soften as he looks upon her. where his muscles had been taut with anger towards the one friend heād leaned on the most growing up. his eyes had been dark, a swirl of red behind once emerald irises giving away to his displeasure. just moments prior all you had to do was glance in his direction and you would be able to feel the rage, the pure unadulterated need to punch something, to hurt someone. heād been that angry. he had been that enraged. but all it took was just one slight glance at his new blushing bride. everything stopped. his entire being deflated and he stood there like a child being scolded for staying up past his bed time. looking at her was hard and so he dropped his chin, his lashes falling upon the apples of his cheeks as he listened to her words letting her say whatever she needed and not daring to say anything in return. nina had every right to be upset and she had every right to be angry at him. honestly he knew that she wouldnāt appreciate dylan being there, but he never thought it would go this far. if heād known that everything would have escalated this far he wouldnāt have reached out whatsoever. the slight need to reconnect with a friend had just sent his wife of barely fourteen days walking out of their home and away from him.Ā despite the need he felt to follow her out of the home and practically drop to his knees and beg her to come back, talk to him. he didnāt. she was allowed her space, even if that meant it was space away from him. he was certain that she was most likely texting her mate andĀ that he woudnāt hear from her for at least a good few hours if not a few twenty four.
Ā Ā his back had fell hard against the front door and heās throwing his head back against it hard with a grunt of anger barely able to make it past his gritted teeth. fingers begin to curl into fists at his side only to busy themselves with pulling at the dark strands of hair that sat upon his head so unruly. eyes squint and he feels the need to scream, to lash out, to do something. a burning in his eyes begins and he feels weak when feeling the obvious tears slide down his heated cheeks. heās reaching out to the table nearest and grabs the closest thing that he can get his fingers around and throws it in a fit of rage. the sound of the vase slamming against the wall fills his ears and he stares down at the broken ceramic. his breathing is shallow, the need for a deep breath hits him hard and he isnāt able to get it. the man pushes back against the door and he slides down to the floor. how had he managed to fuck up this bad?Ā
Ā Ā itās easily hours later before he moves from where he sat and he only moves because his phone chimes. practically the man runs into the great room to reach for his mobile hoping that when he checks his phone that it would be nina. unfortunately though the text was not from his very upset wife, but from his mum. milo nearly didnāt even open it, but had become so happy that he did. brows furrow and he bends to sit on the edge of the sofa and reads the text probably a good ten times or more. āi said i wouldnāt tell you, but sheās here. whatever you did to this poor girl, get your head out of your arse and grow up.ā the entire time she was gone and he had thought for sure that she was with sienna. heād been wrong. when nina walked out instead of calling her friend sheād called his mother and now his mother was sending him a very heated text.Ā obviously heās in his car and driving with way too much speed to the home that he grew up in. itās late. heās not sure of the exact time, but with the sun having been down for hours itās pretty damn obvious. when arriving at the home heās already grasping the key he still had and was ready to open the door when itās thrown open in his face. the woman on the other side did not look happy and heās taking a few cautious steps backwards and away from his mum.Ā āi didnāt tell you where she was so you could come out here and make things worse. sheās resting. leave her be. you are not welcome in here right now, not when sheās come to me seeking solace and you are the obvious problem.ā once again heās left to stand there as though being scolded and really he was. the door was slammed in his face and left stunned he retreated back to his car and thatās where he sat for hours watching the house and able to notice the light in his bedroom flicker on and then off. nina had obviously gone to bed.Ā
Ā Ā the front door was opening and heās exhausted. he doesnāt move. he doesnāt get out of the car to argue with his mother who was approaching the car in her large t-shirt and pink plaid pajama pants. impatiently sheās tapping her fist against his windshield and reluctantly milo turns the key - noticing the led numbers saying 2:40 - and rolls down the window.Ā āiām not leaving.ā his voice is rough and heās rolling his head back to rest against the back of the seat. anneās gaze is soft, still obvious disappointment clear in her features, but at least sheās not chewing him out this time around. his mum reaches out her small hand and gently cradles his cheek, his eyes close and he feels like he could break down right there, but he manages to hold himself together. the woman brush her thumb over his cheekbone and with a gentle sigh pulled away her touch and nudges her head in the direction of the door when he lookstat her so sadly. it killed the woman that the pair were under so much stress and that it had led to this. she understood the need her son had to reconnect with someone who had been practically his rock at one point and time especially when it was clear that he was having trouble dealing with everything that had been tossed in his direction as of late. she also understood how nina felt though and agreed that milo shouldāve known better than to invite someone whom nina felt was no good to the home they shared. anne loved dylan. she always would. that didnāt mean she agreed with the young womanās obvious attempts at making things rough for others.Ā
Ā Ā milo was hesitant to leave his car, but did so walking into his childhood home with his mother and removing his boots to leave by the door. everything in him aches to go up to where he knew nina was, but he needed to try and relax and he definitely needed some food in his stomach. anne made him a sandwich and he eat it silently while leaning against the counter.Ā āthank you.ā the man murmured just before his mum moved towards the stairs and made her way to her bedroom. he wasnāt very far behind, but he lingers at the door with a slight hesitance when he turns the knob and enters the dark room. it takes a moment, but his eyes adjust to the darkness and heās able to make out her small frame curled up in his bed. it broke his heart honestly. undressing down to his boxers heās carefully crawling into the bed beside of her, his arms instantly looping around her frame and pulling her slowly into his chest. his eyes close and he exhales a relieved sigh while his hand lays upon her stomach and his thumb strokes her smooth skin gently and the warmth of his lips is pressed tenderly to her hair line. milo hadnāt wanted to wake her, but if she happens to stir and she wants him to leave he would in an instant.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā the day had been long and at one point she didnāt think itād ever end. too many things were happening at once and truthfully, she wasnāt handling it all that well. the need to reach out to val and let her know what was happening was strong, she wanted to tell her elder sister what was going on, but she couldnāt. she had to keep the circle of people that knew small, partially because it was so early..but also because nina knew that val had a tendency to tell her parents most things - as did nina - but this was something that nina needed to be able to tell herself. the news that sheād gotten married would be a shock, but the news of a baby following would potentially cause chaos in the cabrera home. nina needed to be there to handle that.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā sheād spent most of the night giving herself distractions in one form or another. she couldnāt allow her mind to settle and pinpoint to what had happened earlier in the day. if she thought about it she was bound to breakdown and exhaust herself even further. it worked for a while. she and anne had talked, well nina had and anne just listened giving input only when the time allowed. somehow sheād managed to get on the topic of what had happened for a bit and like expected nina had allowed herself to shed tears, but they were of anger. she wasnāt sad, no, she was angry. she felt as if milo knew her distaste for the other and yet there she was. nina blamed him. but eventually nina steered the conversation away from that and had began talking about the plans that sheād been successful at planning in order to get a few shoots back-to-back for the next couple of weeks before she felt her modeling would come to a pause. sheād also mentioned that she was almost positive the agency told her theyād began looking for possibly a few she could do even when she was showing, which honestly brought her joy. for the most part, she enjoyed the gigs that sheād been involved with and was sad to know that sheād have to stop for a while. hearing that theyād try to make accommodations brought a smile to her lips, and the excitement was visible when she finally told another.Ā but eventually, sheād grown tired. whether it had been from the amount of hours that had passed since sheād been up or because sheād managed to exhaust herself with the anger and worry that filled it, it didnāt much matter. she was just ready to sleep, and so sheād apologized to anne for the inconvenience she felt she caused and headed up the steps.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā the bedroom sheād found herself in was all too familiar, which made sense as sheād spent several months sleeping there. when sheād first entered the room she hadnāt gone straight into it and turning on the light. sheād left it off. too lazy to really do much else than sleep sheād made her way to the edge of the bed before moving to sit on the floor and allow herself time to just breathe. her mind flooded with things sheād wished she wouldāve said before leaving, but sheād said what she did and there was no taking any of it back. she still blamed him, wished that heād had enough sense to at least meet the other somewhere other than their home but instead he didnāt. she felt things couldāve went entirely different had the other not opened her mouth about the alcohol. nina didnāt consume it, despite the couple of times she had, and certainly not now. it wasnāt like the other girl knew but nina felt she at least knew that. it was all part of the plan, she felt and for that reason alone she realized that perhaps it wasnāt entirely miloās fault. he couldnāt be the only one at blame when the other had been the one at fault from the beginning. nina knew dylan, and she knew the type of person she was. she shouldāve expected something like that to come from her lips, but the issue was that she had no idea the other was there. she was caught off guard. it didnāt matter how long the thought lingered, she shouldāve trusted him. she did trust him. but one mention of alcohol could send her flying with anger. he struggled with that, why would she..that wasnāt even a question, nina knew the answer. sheād already explained the thoughts to milo. it was time to let go. it she didnāt sheād allow the anger to consume her, and that would be her downfall.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā time came where nina had had enough time to think, enough time to truly process her thoughts on her own and without the insight of another. sheād made peace with what happened, her part, and most importantly sheād forgiven him. she hadnāt said it to anyone, especially not him, but she had and in the morning she had plans on returning home and apologizing for leaving. for that night, though, she needed to rest. turning on the light to the bedroom she was shuffling around to find any clothing that heād left which surprisingly included one of the first tees of his that sheād ever worn. sheād taken off the clothing sheād been wearing that day and slipped on the one sheād found. she was exhausted and taking a shower wasnāt in the agenda; she hoped he didnāt mind. curling up under the blankets sheād taken comfort in the bed and on the side opposite of where sheād remembered sleeping. she wanted to feel connected despite just how far they actually were. and shortly after laying down, sheād fallen asleep.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā sometime during the middle of the night heād made his way up to the room and she hadnāt noticed. she doesnāt remember the time sheād gone to bed considering she hadnāt the slightest idea where sheād left her phone but it didnāt matter. the early bird would rise soon enough and sheād be able to go home. the slight movements heād caused between getting in and lacing his arm around her had brought her out of the sleep she was in just the slightest. it was enough for her to recognize that she wasnāt alone anymore but not enough for her to fully be awake and know just what was happening. it didnāt matter as part of her was aching for him to be in bed beside her. his fingers drifted over her flesh and her brows her slowly tugging together as she became that much more aware. the smallest of smiles was able to find its way across her lips and the simplest of words forming to pass her lips.Ā ā i love you. ā with the words leaving her lips and the content that was provided by him being there she was easily able to drift back to sleep.
