SAMMY :0 !!
luv her zero suit design in fusion
I’ve made it pretty far in Prime 4 and so far I give it a solid 4/5 stars. Lots of fun, lovely environments, banger music, and I actually really like the NPCs, but there’s a few things I would change. Spoilers under the cut!
Needs more vehicular slaughter.
I agree!
It would be so satisfying to be able to take Vi-0-La deeper into areas and run over all the psy-bots that keep ticking me off.
It's sad that all the loudest voices are complaining about the Federation Troopers existing and that's probably the takeaway Nintendo and Retro are gonna get, when really I just want them back now ><;
Varying opinions on Sol Valley aside, I do think that one unambiguous win about Prime 4 was Vi-0-La, and I think that could be carried forward.
I would love to see them try a Prime 1/2 styled world, but with the inclusion of vehicle sections. Flare Pool felt like a really promising first stab at that sort of design; just needs to be taken further. I don't think the new and the old need to be inherently mutually-exclusive.
To elaborate on this, imagine something sorta like, Mario Kart World or a Forza Horizon game, where you have an open world with a bunch of interconnected highways and stuff, right?
Take that basic notion, scaled appropriately, but cut out the space between the roads, split the map into large portions divided by an equivalent of the Vi-0-La tunnels, and then further chop each chunk of the map into individual Rooms; maybe it's a really mountainous planet overall with a bunch of smaller valleys or basins or canyons, depending on the biome. Then the spaces between the different roads, fill that back in with traditional on-foot sections in buildings or more narrow/rugged natural terrain that a vehicle can't go into. And of course apply the usual upgrade-based Metroidvania progression to it all, whether it be the vehicle areas or the on-foot portions.
Maaaybe a more open hub-area acting as a nexus for a few different highways for some more free-roaming action, but still nowhere near as like, excessively vast as Sol Valley.
Then, yanno, it would resemble Prime 1 in structure, but could make the backtracking more fun and less tedious because the currently-opened roadways would function as a loose "fast travel" without completely trivializing exploration or disrupting immersion with a hard jump from Point A to Point B. (Basically acting like Magmoor in function, but the first portion of Flare Pool in form.) It would also make opening new roadways a new kind of reward for forward progression, as the network of highways slowly start to link up to each other more.
And with Retro's technical prowess and the Switch 2 hardware, and good use of verticality, a lot of it could still be more aesthetically open-air and utilizing visible landmarks in other portions of the map like with Fury Green's tree and Volt Forge's towers, without that impeding on the actual design and traversal still being sufficiently mazelike/complex/engaging.
I think that's the best way for a Prime 5 to try to go about building on Prime 4's strengths while improving its flaws, at least design-wise. It may not work or be amazing in practice, but I'd love to see the attempt be made at least.
Part of the pain of being a Metroid Story Nerd is that this is a series where the puplic perception, and the popular consensus among even the majority of fans, is usually "Wait, Metroid has story?"; or assuming it's HaloDoom But With A Girl; or at best, pigeonholing it as Alien (And Nothing Else) The Videogame.

Playing Metroid Prime 4 picked me up from my creative dry spell, and I just have to whip this up! Will be drawing more of Armstrong soon!
I have been relistening to Murderbot and please consider
ART
big
content to hang out with it's humans doing Human Things (research)
no stress just Vibes (research 💕)
except when you threaten it's humans and it reminds you that it's BIG
oh god why did humans make something That Big how did this happen
it will kill you with extreme prejudice (and pain) and not care a whit because you threatened it's humans
Murderbot
small
fast
too smart for it's own good tbh look at it it's got anxiety
does not want to interact with humans it just wants it's humans to stay where it puts them
there are SAFETY PROTOCOLS THAT YOU AGREED TO WHY ARE YOU NOT FOLLOWING THE PROTOCOLS
will hurt you if you threaten it's humans but mostly just wants to get it's humans away and safely in one place
anyway, ART is a livestock guardian dog and MB is a herding dog
I love the idea of Murderbot setting up its little security consulting business and advertising is like "Hey want some real security? Hire a rogue SecUnit. What's my rate? Unmarked bills. How much? I dunno, haven't thought that far. Gimme gimme, I wanna patrol your compound and rescue you from danger."

I should work on homework. But… thats no fun.
We went to a spot Overse and Ratthi had proposed after a quick look at the map. It was a series of rocky hills in a thick tropical jungle, heavily occupied by a large range of fauna, enough to confuse life-sign scans. Mensah and Pin-Lee lowered the hoppers down and eased them in among rocky cliffs. I sent up some drones so we could check the view from several angles and we adjusted the hoppers’ positions a few times. Then I set a perimeter.

Felt like drawing a ladscape for once.
A Grand Opening raffle skeb prize for anonymous of Three from The Murderbot Diaries
Went with a scene from Network Effect chapter 17 so !!spoiler warning!!
trying to figure out my murderbot interpretation while listening to the end of system collapse o7
Ahead I saw more light and a foyer for a stairwell. I lurched into the foyer just as an armored SecUnit dropped down onto the landing.
I almost triggered both my energy weapons but just in time I saw the sticker on its helmet.
ART’s infatuation was cute at first, but now Iris has heard every story at least three times and the novelty has worn off
