But the dream, the nightmare, was so real that Lestat can’t shake his horror. Louis guides him through it, reminding Lestat that none of it happened.

AKA a fix-it to the finale and really the whole season. You’re safe living in this version, because as far as I am concerned THIS is canon.

OKAY! With that, I just want to reassure you that Louis is always safe with me.

I will NEVER write anything like that happing to him. I will never elude to it. I will never do that.

He is safe in my hands. Even in my canon adjacent fics, that will have NEVER HAPPENED.

He is safe with me, and so are my readers.

Different type of art this time. About a year ago I decided to try my hand at doll repainting (thanks to the amazing @allthelittledolls ) as a new creative hobby that didn't feel like work. So, I obviously decided to make a Louis du Lac doll.

So I bought a 1/6 scale fully jointed doll, sans head, back like... last January. And I've had a headless body waiting for a head since then. And it's finally happening!

I've been trying to find a head sculpt that was close enough to make a Louis doll since I bought the body. About a month into that process I figured I'd get a 3d printed head made, which I've finally purchased.

So, he's been lightly sanded (the head is the approximate size of a Barbie's head), but I've been very light handed with it, as not to lose any detail. Considering he's going to sit on my shelf by my work station, the printed texture probably isn't going to be that much of an issue. So, now he's been sanded, primed, and I move onto the task of painting him.

And yes, I am absolutely terrified of fucking this up 😅

Okay so I'm still on very base colours. Photo doesn't do him justice, he does have slight pink in his cheeks and nose, as well as his lips for the base tone of them before I move on to building more details.

Next up is the faint grey tone around chin and jaw that implies underlying whisker growth. For now, the base coats are drying.

Base colours done! Tomorrow when he's dry enough for me to really feel safe with, I'll move onto the slow layering of details (and hair colour).

I need to dig out some fabric and make boxer briefs. Forgot that the doll body has a visible dick 😂 (he's been sitting primly with his knees hooked for like a year)

Some quickly made shorts (about 40 minutes from masking tape stage to finished garment; hand sewn) so tumblr doesn't eventually flag this post as adult.

Another layer of detailing! Some simple and faint highlighting just for depth.

Will add shadows to his hair, and then start on another layer of details which may be the last.

Eventually, when I'm convinced he's done, I'll add a bit of gloss to his eyes (my gloss has fine glitter in it, hopefully it won't destroy his look lol), and just a little to his lower lip.

Closer now to the end than the beginning! I also need to shade and detail the body a bit: finger nails, toenails, slight shadows, and body hair.

That will be less nerve wracking.

Hair colour has been achieved! High quality carbon black acrylic paint thinly dry brushed over the three layers of jam purple, eggplant purple-brown, and black coffee brown, to give depth to the highlights and shadows.

Also, in the last photo, you can see a slight sheen of gloss on his lower lip. I will probably add another, once I gloss his eyes!

Okay! I'm currently considering him done, but it's going to take 24 or so hours for the gloss in his eyes to fully cure (it looks milky when it's wet). I may add just a little to his eyebrows, but for now I'm just going to let him sit and cure.

The small amount of shading on his chest is done, and I'm waiting for the gloss over the fingernails and toenails to set before I move onto chest hair (so I don't fuck up the gloss by bumping it as it cures lol)

Chest hair done. I've said it before, but if you're new to following my art I'll say it again. Painting/drawing body hair is weirdly meditative. Tedious, sure, but it's a calm, mindless activity.

Anyway, that's done for the sake of open collared doll clothes. I'd go down the belly with the rest of the body hair, but I don't really see the point lol.

Random thought, and it's only because I love all incarnations of Queen Akasha (my favourite of the Ancients, and probably my favourite Vampire aside from Louis and Lestat -- at least in the books).

I kind of wish they'd given her green eyes as homage not only to Aaliyah's portrayal of the Queen, but also as a nod to Louis.

Because Louis was the Fledgeling made after Lestat's drinking of the Mother's blood, and he's the only Vampire who had brown eyes in life and now has green (yeah, he's got the pretty green eyes in the book, but that could have been changed).

I just think it would have been a cool aspect to include, since Louis' monologue at the end of Season 2 does mirror how Akasha was seen in 2002's Queen of the Damned, with the slow zoom in and the opening of the green eyes at the final position.

Oh well, this is just brain lint that changes literally nothing lol.

Okay so now that the head is fully dry and detailed, I've tested out how it looks on the body. I'm amazed that I got the colour match that accurate with the body, because I was 100% just figuring I'd match whatever visible area of the body back to the head, as the head is more important.

I'm still going to shade and detail at least his clavicle and chest, just so I can make clothes that do have a lower collar on them, but overall I'm happy with the current result.

Even if a hot spot on the head did gauge part of the neck you can't see 😅
