Awaking in their bedroom, heart pounding and panic coursing through his veins, Lestat searches to find Louis fast asleep and safe in the bed beside him. But the dream, the nightmare, was so real that Lestat can't shake his horror. Louis guides him through it, reminding Lestat that none of it happened.

AKA a fix-it to the finale and really the whole season. You're safe living in this version, because as far as I am concerned THIS is canon.

I will NEVER write anything like that happing to him. I will never elude to it. I will never do that.

He is safe in my hands. Even in my canon adjacent fics, that will have NEVER HAPPENED.

I've mentioned it before but I love reading historical non-fiction. I'm currently reading Erik Larson's The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America, about the 1893 Chicago's World Fair.

It's been a fascinating look into how the exposition was planned, and built in record time between 1891 and its May 1893 opening (as well as being a deep dive into murderer H.H. Holmes).

I'm kind of wanting to write a pre-iwtv fic with the Du Lac Family going to Chicago to take in the Fair (as everyone was going and it was fashionable to do, even for Florence).

Louis would be 15 (August 25th 1893 was marked as the celebration day at the Fair for African-Americans, so perhaps it's an early birthday trip for the eldest child, before the death of their father, etc.), and Grace and Paul would be, probably, around 8ish? Somewhere between 5 and 12 id assume.

I know this is off topic from my current pics and series, but it could be fun just to explore the family dynamic and the World's Fair?

But it became another mantra I thought about while living in a place that’s been utterly transformed by resource extraction over the past century, and as I thought about the burnt landscapes I drove through."

I really was just thinking of putting modern Louis on a Mardi Gras float throne, but then my brain circled around to an Au where Louis is the original vampire (god, I love Akasha, I just couldn’t get it out of my mind), and Lestat falls in love with him from afar, waking him as he canonically does Akasha… except this King of the Damned is a little less… nihilistic, willing to adapt and change lol.

I've been dying to write this au since I painted this piece almost a year ago. I have a handful of snippets for it done, even compiled a massive amount of research.

Akasha is my favourite of all the Ancients, I love her dearly, in every incarnation of her-- book, movie, series. I even have a small little Akasha "shrine" (for lack of a better term) in my work area. One day I'll post photos of it, once another few of my pieces arrive.

So this idea for the fic in no means is meant to erase Sheila's Akasha, or Aaliyah's. Or Akasha at all. I love her so much 😭 I'm just thrumming with the au urge.
