I love Martha Dunnstock. While shitty things continuously happen to her, she’s a survivor. Her style is simple, comfort-forward, and signals a devotion to popular music.

"Teenage Suicide” was written and produced by musician Don Dixon (a key producer of 80s jangle pop e.g. R.E.M.), and performed by the ad hoc group "Big Fun", which consisted of Dixon, Mitch Easter, Angie Carlson and Marti Jones (Dixon’s wife since 1988). 

Film history

Heather’s official world premiere was held at the now-defunct MIFED in 1988; soon after, the film had its world (or International? Or North American? Depending on whether MIFED was considered a world or market premiere or any sort of premiere at all) premiere at the 1989 Sundance Film Festival. 

MIFED was the world's first audiovisual market and Milan-based precursor to AFM (which stepped up and into the vacuum left in the wake of MIFED’s demise). Founded in 1960 by Michele Guido Franci, MIFED was part of a storied history that put Italy at the forefront of all things film for a spell. No one knows what the acronym means and no one knows exactly who killed MIFED.
