Weeks 5 and 6... and I just included week 7 as well
Putting these two together because nothing extraordinary happened in week 5. Its midterms here so I worked on all my papers (8000 words total). Finally discovered there's a "study" part in study abroad.
So this goes back to the week of February 19th. On the 20th I got my haircut at 10500 Salon near Portobello Road. My hair was getting too long and I couldn't deal with it! My stylists name was Antony and the salon was very cool and hipster-y! And he did a good job on my hair:
Then on Friday February 20th I went to a free album signing/Concert for a girl named Nina Nesbitt. She's a Scottish acoustic singer. She was very good and super kind. She sang four or five songs then took pictures with everyone and signed their albums. Here we are:
That weekend I worked on some more papers (They never end!!!) and went to different pubs with my friends. A typical weekend!
On Monday the 24th, Zoe Bond from Canada was visiting. Zoe is doing an exchange in France and her school there was on a trip to London. So we met up in the afternoon and walked around. Her school was looking around the Camden Markets so I met up with her there, we then had three hours to walk around so we went to Primrose hill (10 minute walk) and looked around there. It was so nice to see her!
I then did the rest of my classes for the week, and on Thursday night (February 27th), my roommate from home, Kim, came to visit! She is studying in Paris so it was a short weekend trip. On Friday we went to South Kensington and met up with John's high school Exchange partner Matt. We went to a pub then went to the Victoria and Albert Museum, here we are being smited by Neptune:
After the museum we went to Harrods. That night we went out to the Student Union where they were having a neon party. There was a lack of paint, but enough for us to put a little on our faces!
On Saturday we walked around and saw Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, St Paul's, and the Tate Modern. We then went up to Primrose Hill so she could see an area that wasn't as touristy (not to mention its a great neighborhood). We went to a little pub there called The Lansdowne where we sat at a cute little table next to a fire place. Afterwards we rode in a double decker bus to get back home. We went to a really nice Indian restaurant for dinner then called it a night.
On Sunday, Kim, our friend Kaya, and I went to Covent Garden. We walked around and did a little shopping before meeting up with Matt again at a really awesome gastropub called the Porterhouse, I didn't take any of my own pictures but here's one from the internet:
It was really cool and industrial feeling. Afterwards, Kim had to catch her train and we said goodbye.
This past week I went on a field trip with my architecture class. We walked along Regents Park to see the work of John Nash. I wasn't a fan of his architectural style... He liked to use cheap finishes made to look expensive. Here's one of his terraces:
On Wednesday, March 5th I went to a "Football" match at Wembley Stadium. It was an international friendly, so England played Denmark. It was really fun to see. I went with my friends Mackenzie and Carlee. It was 0-0 until 80:00 when England scored the first and only goal of the match... also right at the time where we said we would leave if no one had scored! We ran back to the tube station to try to beat the stadium rush.
Then last night, March 6th, Mackenzie and I went to see Beyoncé at the O2 arena. We had general admission tickets, and got there early to get a good spot. We started "queueing" at 10:30am, and ended up around 3rd row for the show. Beyonce was wonderful and I got some great pictures! It was so much fun!
I don't have any plans for tonight, but tomorrow morning my Parents and little brother, Robert, arrive. Robert is staying for 4 days and my parents for a week. I'm sure we'll have all sorts of adventures to document then!
I'll be better about updating now that I've caught up!
