Revisiting the HC that Peter was patiently waiting for either his nephew or his daughter to bring Stiles into the Hale family before taking matters into his own hands.
After seeing how it either went nowhere (guilt tends to control Derek when it comes to making saner decisions regarding his love life a.k.a. self sabotage), or not far enough (training Malia on being human again while also having a romantic relationship with her was not a good decision in the long run) Peter comes to an epiphany sometime after the whole thing with the Wild Hunt.
Past experiences proved that he and Stiles worked weirdly well together, with an unspoken level of trust between them no matter how much Stiles would have denied it at the beginning.
That Stiles relied on Peter to let him ramble away his worries and the stark look of relief on his face when Peter believes him.
That their brains worked in tandem when figuring out whatever problems they come across.
That they both refuse to take things at face value and notice things the rest lf the pack would brush away as irrelevant.
The way Stiles still clung to him way back at the very beginning, when Peter revealed the dead body in the trunk, as though some hidden part of Stiles thought it appropriate to somehow trust Peter to protect him. Even though Peter had been the one stalking and hunting and hurting his friends.
That Stiles' eyes had dilated, his scent tinged with arousal, when Peter offered him the bite.
That Peter had half nuzzled Stiles wrist, instinctively memorising his scent and making sure it was permanently seared in his brain.
The he had caught the regret lurking beneath the determination when he caught Stiles' eyes while he was being burned for the second time in his life.
That he made the pack keep the fact that he had been burned again when escaping from the wild hunt. That he didn't want Stiles to feel even the slightest bit of guilt over their efforts into bringing back everyone's memories of their existence.
That he noticed how Stiles knew when he meant one thing while saying something else, the fond look he tries and fails to keep hidden from Peter whenever Peter tries to talk circles around the pack.
That Peter is both blind and stupid as to not notice his mate right in front of him. (His wolf always knew though, with how he instinctively offered Stiles the bite on his wrist).
A plan to properly court Stiles is finally put together after a week getting himself drunk on wolfbane-laced alcohol. He needed the time to mourn both his stupidity and the time lost because of it!
