Construction & Destruction / Steven Lambke
Revolution C
Limited Edition Cassette (30 copies)/Digital
We leave space in our music. The space, which some might call silence, becomes a place of conversation. It has the shape of a worn wooden table, with light falling on it, and surrounded by old wooden chairs. Light outside is filled with weather and black birds. Inside, light is an invitation.
We three are quiet people, but excitable. We’ve known each other a long time. We have slept at each other’s houses. We have stayed awake long through the night, driving after the show, or in a frenzy of discussion. We know each other’s work as well as anyone.
Revolution C is the document of a day in a long conversation. It is named after the studio in Toronto where it was recorded. Each songwriter expressing their particular concern, each supported by the others. Room C is the small room, still grand to us who work most often in our own homes, surrounded by dogs, or threatened by the tyranny of neighbours. Revolution is a measure of turning back, a cycle, and also a progress, a turning over, a complete and utter change. Letter the changes so they can be recognized.
Construction & Destruction are Colleen Collins and David Trenaman. They live and work in Port Greville NS. Steven Lambke is a songwriter based in Toronto, ON or Sackville, NB depending on the season. We deal in fragments and used books, shards of bone and mirror.
Written and performed by Colleen Collins, David Trenaman, and Steven Lambke
