Afropunk London

Originally held in New York (Brooklyn) Afropunk is a festival celebrating black sub-culture, it has built up to become a full-blown movement through music, fashion and the arts, it has been able to spread to the likes of Paris, Atlanta and now London (Alexandra Palace) for the first time. London finally had a chance to represent to the fullest - and London did! Grace Jones as the headliner provided a phenomenal crescendo to the festival as a whole, we hope London gets another chance to celebrate diversity like this again.

Spector by Fiana O’Leary

As her graduation project from the Royal College of Art, designer Fiona O’Leary invented a device that scans and identifies typeface and colours — beaming the samples directly to a nearby computer or storing the information for later.

While currently only a prototype, it’s clear that Spector could become wildly popular with graphic designers and typophiles. Wired referred to it as “Shazam for fonts” but also pointed out that one major obstacle in its development may lie in its ability to aid in design theft. Check out the video of it in action below.
