Monster Ecologies: Radobaan
Entry 12 - Radobaan
Name: Radobaan
Aliases: Radobarukin, Skull, Bones, Bone Hammer Wyvern
Classification: Reptile, Brute Wyvern
Size: 20 Metres
Biology: Radobaan are incredibly similar to their cousins Uragann, to the point of being classified as a subspecies of Uragann when they were first discovered. Their skin is much softer than that of Uragann however. They have come up with a clever way to overcome this problem, in a matter similar to that of the Elder Dragon Narkakos. The organic tar-like substance that Uragann produces on their undersides is instead produced everywhere on a Radobaan. They use this to attach the numerous bones in the Rotten Vale to their bodies, attacking as a form of armour. Their softer skin also makes them more flexible than Uragann, allowing them to perform maneuvers like spinning on their sides like a top.
Behaviour: Radobaan are solitary creatures, with each one having their own caches of bones. They do have a soft side however. They don’t other Radobaan unless provoked and will often allow Felynes and Hunters to take bones from their nests. When they gather for the breeding season, Radobaan have been seen racing each other by rolling around the Vale and since both males and females have been seen doing this with the opposite gender along with their own, they seem to be doing this for amusement. Each Radobaan has different smelling sleep gas. In order to decide a mate, they will take turns releasing their sleep gas and when they find another with the same smell, this will be the Radobaan they mate with. The species mate for life, with the relationship between each partner being a tender and loving one. In a strange but heartwarming twist, two Radobaans with compatible gas don’t even have to be the same gender. While these pairs are incapable of breeding themselves, they will raise young Radobaan who have lost their parents, acting as adoptive caretakers.
Habitat: Radobaan exclusively live at the top of the Vale, staying in the shadows of giant Elder Dragon bones and very rarely venturing into the depths below. Each Radobaan patrols a small area of territory, and this can be seen in the paths they take as continued usage has ground parts of the landscape down into huge and wide trenches for them to travel through.
Diet: Radobaan are mainly scavengers, feeding almost exclusively on bones and the nutrient-rich marrow inside of them. The only variety in their diet is that they will also eat insects and Neopterons like Hornetaurs and Vespoids. Researchers have noted that some individuals have a sweet tooth for honey.
Attack Method: Radobaan, like all Brute Wyverns, attack with almost nothing but brute force, aiming to bludgeon and flatten opponents. They smash enemies with their thick skulls and large chins, smack them with their tail and hip checks and even attack with their whole body weight by rolling into and onto them. All of these attacks are boosted further by the tough bone armour covering their bodies which, while unintentionally, can fly off and hit opponents while rolling about.
Place in the Food Chain: Radobaan are in the middle of the food chain in the Vale, having no predators but not being one itself. While they are attacked by Bazelguese and sometimes killed by Deviljho if they don’t run away, this is not for feeding or territorial purposes, but instead a show of dominance spurred on by the extremely aggression of these creatures. They will sometimes attack Great Girros that come up into their territory, but they are cautious when Odogaron, Tigrex or Acidic Glavenus are in the area. While they will fight these monsters if they have no other choice, they tend to stay out of their way otherwise, knowing the sheer aggression of these creatures.
This has been a report on the Radobaan. Thank you for reading.
LMAO.. :P
TURF WAR! TURF WAR! TURF WAR!
“This is my hammer. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My hammer is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My hammer, without me, is useless. Without my hammer, I am useless. I must raise my hammer true. I must slam harder than the monster who is trying to kill me. I must crush it before it crushes me.” - All [true] hammer mains. 😉
Totally agree with this mantra
