Scratch that. Second though, let’s put it this way. Some big changes are coming up. And frankly, I’ve been in the process of a lot of them already. And music has sort of be compacted into he center of all of them. So, I’ve had some coming clean moments, some more private than others. And, in turn with that, there’s been a change in tides over my career. I’ve always considered myself a musician, and maybe a bit more of a humble one at that. I’ve got most if not all of my gigs so far by being under the radar as much as possible. And it’s been a pretty good run, for at least 26 years.
But the time has come for a change. Change gonna come, so they say. And music is going to be part of that change. We’re going to be committed to releasing one song a month. Free for 15 days. Totally free. Blood, sweat, thought, time & tears are going into these tracks & for 15 days they’ll be yours to own. Now, I know the logical marketing ploy here. ‘Ah, free music; guy must be to garner some fans’. But honestly, no; not really.
This is how to keep a relationship honest: you put in & you don’t demand out of it; you simply get or not get out of it. Best case scenario: someone downloads my songs for free, shares them with successful people join their lives & I can make a career out of this (cough cough Amanda Dahlin). I can’t hope for fans; I can only hope that you’ll listen. And frankly, if you listen & you like it, then support by buying the track. I guess for $1. Can’t expect more out of you guys than that.
Consider this keeping me honest & I’ll consider that you guys still believe the in the creative process. Music is a part of life & if you think these songs are worth any measure of life yourself, I trust that this will all work out in the end then.
Cool; this post was going to really sappy & emo about three days ago. Then, a few days in the Washington wilderness, almost excessive drinking & in-laws really turned the tone of this around. And as I glide over the Los Angeles skyline right now, it hit me that I should’t pander to people. I’m 27. If people can’t find anything to like about me, then I guess that’s how that going to end up (i.e. see past relationship status’. Btw, I just got over not speaking to you at the funeral; thanks to my wife & Alayna oddly enough).
Alright; dally no longer. This is a song about hurting the ones you love, and trying to mend and move forward. It's called 'Dusty'.
