Elliptic Emergence

Heck yeah... Met my 9k word goal for chapter 3 finally.

Now it's just smoothing and refining... Finding a spot or two for Nix comedy...

Mostly my entire hang-up, aside from scenes being drafted in the wrong order, was the logistics of the etching process. More research was necessary.

Trying to get it to a readable state because I'm sharing it with my partner. And I never share my fics with my partner because... Reasons? The mortifying ordeal of being known? Anyways. This fic will be beta-read. So that's cool.

Once chapter 3 is finished, chapter 1 and 2 may receive some soft updates (to fix typos or tense tangles or whatever, nothing drastic).

Revisiting my SW Outlaws fic.

I needed some time/distance from it to see it with fresh eyes. Something about the pacing/structure of chapter 3 was just not right.

Splicing and rearranging... Feels much better now.

I'm aiming for 9k words. I'm at around 8,700k with more editing to be done to stitch and smooth the rearranged pieces...

Sometimes I think it's worthwhile to frankenstein fragments together to rearrange scenes... But then afterwards I regret it because smoothing out the seams for continuity is a tangle. Ugh.

Chapter 3 is coming along. I want to finish it before the end of June.

Finally had a decent stretch of uptime before it kicked me back to the login screen. Nvidia again.

I can handle it booting me after a couple hours. That's fine. It's every fifteen or so minutes that is intolerable.

Was able to noodle around in Krita with a few other applications open... Before it randomly kicked me. Not sure if it was because of the brush I was using (fat graphite wash for coverage) was too intensive... But I'm not hurting for RAM or CPU so I don't know. Bumped the memory allotment higher, maybe that will help.

Ugh ... Rough start here...

Tablet mostly works? Touch isn't enabled. Which kind of sucks.

Was trying to use Krita but it got locked up after I tried to zoom into my canvas and refused to cooperate after closing and reopening.

Hotkey differences, fine... Reprogramming as needed.

But this crashing to the login screen is going to drive me bonkers. And the no touch enabled. Bummer. I think it's my Nvidia drivers not playing nicely with Wayland. Lucky me.

Part of me wants to go back to Windows to play with Krita in a stable environment. Ugh. Wait until Wayland has better support for touch screens.

People enjoy Linux as a hobby? Insane. I mean, I get the appeal. But my threshold for frustration is way lower because at a certain point I want to stop troubleshooting and USE THE THING.

I ran some updates... and... things are... fixed? Maybe?

Sketching in Krita and so far no crashes. And tablet touch is working again! Blessed tap undo! And canvas turning! All is right in the universe. For now.

Officially using Linux for the first time. KDE Plasma is a go! My tablet works, my scanner works... I've Obsidian connected and a few other of the apps I use.

Nvidia is properly updated... Audio driver hiccups resolved...
