Hello Stiki followers, it's been a while since I last updated you. I've been a very busy bear.

You will be very happy to know that I have made a new (online) friend. His name is Blackscreen Bear (How smart does he look in his bow tie?) and he works as a Consultant for Blackscreen Media. We haven't had the opportunity to meet in person yet as he lives in Dubai while I am in London, but I would love to get Stiki in Dubai. I can imagine there are amazing sights to see, not to mention the gorgeous weather. 

Stikinotes so far is busy working on website improvements - we have now connected to Facebook so sharing your Stikis with friends will be so much easier. We are still in BETA, because we can't deliver anything less than perfect. Our iPhone app is looking great and working really well, but again, we want to deliver the best so we are patiently waiting as our app team work very hard.

As you may or may not know, we have happily settled into our new home in Surbiton. Did you know that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was filmed in Surbiton Train Station? Filming took place in October 2007 with Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter and Michael Gambon as Professor Dumbledore.

Feliz Reyes Magos or Happy Kings Day!

Kings day is also known as Epiphany day when the three Kings (representing Europe, Arabia and Africa): Melchior, Gaspar and Balthazar, visited baby Jesus and bought him gifts. Baby Jesus received gold, frankincense and myrrh.

In Spain, parades take place on the evening of the 5th January, where the three Kings and their helpers give sweets to children. On the 6th January, children awake to find presents left by the three Kings and a feast is prepared to be shared with family. A delicious Roscon is served as desert which contains a trinket of baby Jesus and a bean. The person who finds the trinket of baby Jesus is crowned the 'King' or 'Queen' and the person who finds the bean pays for the Roscon the next year.

As I won't be able to find any Roscon in England, I'll be celebrating with a doughnut and hope to God I don't find anything inside.

It’s a new year and an exciting time for Stikinotes as this is the year we will be launching our awesome iPhone app and expanding our team. We will no doubt have thousands, millions, possibly billions of users getting Stiki on the app and texting in too so it’s bound to be a busy time.

My new years resolution (and I can’t believe I haven’t already done this) is to open my very own Stikinotes account so that I can start getting Stiki. I always see Jack and Jessica getting their phones out and getting Stiki so I think it’s about time I joined them too. It’s so easy to sign up to Stikinotes and it’s free so what have I been waiting for?! (We are currently in closed beta though – we want to deliver you the very best).

My second resolution will be to make more friends (all together now aaaaahhhhhhhh). I want to meet new people and share my experiences with them as well as seeing what they have been up to. This will of course be easier after completing resolution number one.

We’ll be having our ‘strategy’ meeting this week to plan the year ahead, so I’ll be able to update you then.

Update so far…..

It’s been a while, I know. We’ve settled into our new office now and made into our second home. We even have our Christmas tree up! Have you spotted out Stikinotes bauble? Hand-crafted by Jack and Jessica. Don’t give up your day job guys!

Huge progress has been made on the app but being the perfectionists Stikinotes are, we are yet to unveil it. I can tell you that the finished product is going to be fantastic!

Over the last couple of weeks I have seen many location based apps appearing out there so I thought this would be the perfect chance for me to tell you how Stikinotes differentiates from the Foursquares out there. Stikinotes is NOT about the hear and now, Stikinotes is about the there and then. Stikinotes is something I do for ME, I store my memories at Stikinotes and I share them with others. I don’t do this for recognition, badges or points.

If I’m on a date with Alice (hum hum… my lady friend) and we’re in a really cool bar, I don’t want to ‘check-in’ and have all my friends arrive. I want to leave a Stikinote to remember the cool bar for the future and for my friends to see it’s a cool bar that they (or we) can go to another time. See the difference

You may have noticed our website is ‘under construction’, that is because we are making changes to make it even easier for you to use Stikinotes… from home and on the move. When our awesome iPhone app launches, the new website will launch too! Double wammy!

Last but not least I would like to introduce Adam Winterflood, CEO of Stikinotes.

Stikinotes is Adam’s brainchild, an idea that came about in January 2011.

Adam’s initial thought was, it would be fantastic if I went to a great place and I could use my phone to text a photo and description… I could look back at it in the future and share it with my friends.

And so Stikinotes was born!

Stikinotes are like virtual post it notes that allow you to remember and share all your favourite places.

Stikinotes has come along way… this location based service allows you to text in your Stikinote, use the Mobile Web App and soon you will be able to download the iPhone App.

Today is Veterans Day 11.11.11.

The 1st World War ground to a halt at 11am local time on the 11th November 1918.

Today we remember those who fought and whose lives were lost.

The red poppy is a familiar emblem of Veterans Day, due to the poem ‘In Flanders Fields’ which was written by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae on the 3rd May 1915.

  In Flanders fields the poppies blow       Between the crosses, row on row,    That mark our place; and in the sky    The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. 'Oh no, not another Social Media Network??'

NO! Stikinotes is NOT another social media network where you will have to pack up your friends and photos. Stikinotes is designed to work with the likes of Facebook and Twitter to make it super easy to be sociable and keep your friends in the loop of the great places you find and have found.

After doing a bit of online surfing I realised this was something I needed to clear up as people are often dubious about trying something new if it means they have to uproot their whole life. Moving social networks is like moving house - stressful, tiring, time consuming..... With Stikinotes you can try something new without this fear!

Stikinotes also allows you to make new friends with similar interests. For example, If you love to surf and want to know the best places to surf, you can join the surfing group on Stikinotes and share your experiences.... Maybe you've found an awesome surfing spot? Surfing isn't for you? No problem! You can create your own group or join an existing one.

We will be launching very soon so stay tuned....
