Allison looked up and nodded, letting out a relieved sigh. “Watch as these kids get older,”
“God, I’m torn between never wanting that to happen and not being able to wait,” Stiles replied as he sat down next to Allison, “We’re gonna blink and these babies will be in college,”
Allison chuckled, tracing her hand gently across Freya’s face. She was so small. “I was just joking, Stiles.”
Stiles felt Charlie snuffle against where he rested on his collarbone as he laughed. He rocked the tiny baby gently and Charlie settled again,
“This is probably the quietest that this house has been in a while,”
Allison had already pulled Charlie away from her gently by the time Stiles walked back in, switching the two babies easily only this time Allison had made herself, on the other side of the chair, a fort of cushions to lean against, letting her lie down as well as Freya as Allison fed her. That way she didn’t have to worry about her arms feeling worn out. “I know, I know. I’m the greatest mom, you don’t have to tell me,” Allison joked.
Stiles blushed a little, "I'm that preditable, huh?" he asked, embarrassed.
“You do that,” Allison retorted. “I don’t want to get up.”
“Okay,” Stiles shrugged and nodded. He extracted himself from Lily’s clutch at his side and slid away so he didn’t wake her or Charlie up, “Be back in a moment,” Stiles said and kissed Allison’s forehead.
Going down to the nursery, Stiles stood and watched Freya for a moment before gently picking her up. She was the louder of the two, but she looked the most peaceful when she was asleep. Charlie wrinkled up his face a lot when he slept. Freya woke up and fussed a little, but it was nothing that a snuggle couldn’t fix. She quieted down soon enough, but she was due for a feed. Stiles carried her back to the living room,
“Pretty sure she’s getting hungry,” he said to Allison, “I’ll swap you; I’ll hold Charlie while Freya gets fed,”
Allison shook her head. “I’m fine. Freya’s probably gonna wake up anytime soon, anyway.”
“It’d probably be safe to wake her up so she doesn’t sleep to long,” Stiles mused, “I can look after Charlie and Lily if you want to do that,”
Allison chuckled quietly, looking at Lily on Stiles’ side before Allison herself leaned back against Stiles. “Well, now you’re trapped. I can just as easily pick Charlie up.” Allison said tiredly, suppressing a yawn. “Told you you were a good pillow.”
“I’ve had a few years practice,”
Stiles looked down at Allison, “You want to nap? I noticed that yawn,”
“I love you more,” Allison replied, “And don’t try to argue.”
“I know when I’m beat,” Stiles chuckled. He looked down at Lily and saw she was fast asleep,
“Well looks like we’re trapped. Two sleeping babies have trapped us here,” he noted with a smile.
Allison smiled whenever she heard Stiles talk to the babies, leaning her temple against Stiles’ before twisting around to lean in and kiss him deeply, her free hand coming up to rest on the nape of his neck as she held him still, only pulling back for a breath. “I don’t know if you were asking me or him,” Allison teased, scrunching her nose in the process before chuckling and giving Stiles a nod. “But yeah, we did good.”
“I was talking to you,” Stiles replied with a warm smile; Allison looked so cute whenever she scrunched her nose like that, “I love you,”
“He’s fine,” Allison replied, looking down at the baby in her arms. “Maybe with all the commotion with Freya, he doesn’t get to do this as often as he’d like.” Allison chuckled.
“She’s going to be a handful,” Stiles laughed and carefully pulled his hand away from Lily so he could brush his fingers over the downy hair on Charlie’s head,
“Hey, little man,” Stiles said softly so he didn’t wake up, “We did good, didn’t we?”
Smiling at his reply, Allison leaned up to press a kiss to his cheek. “To be fair… when have you met any other mom that isn’t me or… Melissa?” Allison chuckled.
“Very true, but you know what I mean,” Stiles replied. He hadn’t been back to Beacon Hills to visit his own mother in years, and part of him didn’t think he’d ever have the guts to. He pushed the thoughts away,
“How’s the little man doing?” Stiles asked as he looked down at Charlie.
“You already have a full time job of being a dad, though,” Allison mused as she looked up at him. “And so do I.”
“And you do an amazing job,” Stiles insisted and kissed Allison’s forehead, “You really do. You’re the best mom I’ve seen since my own,”
“Yeah,” Allison sat down by Stiles’ side, leaning her head against his shoulder all the while she held Charlie tightly in her arms. Allison yawned again, “You’re the best pillow ever, by the way.”
“I’ll put that on my resume; full qualified mechanic, excellent cook, great husband and the best pillow ever,” Stiles joked. One hand was gently resting on Lily’s head as the thumb stroked her forehead. It had been a move that made her sleepy as a baby and still worked now.
“You can be our pillow,” Allison teased as she nodded towards the hallway and laughed. “Come on.”
Stiles carried Lily down the hall to the living room where he got comfortable in the corner of the L-shaped sofa. Lily got herself comfortable up against Stiles’ side and let her eyes droop closed in seconds. He looked up at Allison,
“My other side is free. You gonna join this too?”
Allison smiled as she looked up at the two of them. Still holding Charlie, Allison brought one hand up to yawn into. She was still tired and with watery eyes, Allison slowly got up without moving too much that she’d wake Charlie. “I’m gonna go lie down on the couch with Charlie. Lily, baby, do you want to go back and nap?”
Lily shook her head but she was looking drowsy. Stiles stood up, Lily clinging around his neck tightly,
“Looks like we’re going to join you,” he chuckled.
“Shut up and let me have my moment,” Allison chuckled, looking up once the door to Lily’s room opened and the little girl walked out with her hand rubbing her eyes tiredly as she made her way to where Stiles and Allison were sat and looked down at them. “Is Charlie okay?”
“He’s fine, sweetie. He was just hungry,” Stiles replied, holding his arms out so Lily would come and sit on his knees,
“You know, it wasn’t long ago when you were that tiny too, bug,” he said as Lily burrowed against his collarbone, “I remember it like it was yesterday,”
“Neither would I,” Allison snorted as she looked at Charlie whose eyes were shut. He couldn’t look more content, even as a baby. “I didn’t even know if I wanted kids. Now I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
"We're a couple of saps, aren't we?" Stiles teased.
Allison was on her feet in two seconds, pulling her clothes on immediately before the one baby’s cry would wake up the other. Going into the newly painted nursery, Allison quickly saw that it was Charlie crying - which was quite rare.
Picking him up, Allison cradled the little boy in her arms and brought him out into the hallway so he wouldn’t wake Freya, closing the nursery door quietly behind her as she sat down on the floor. He wasn’t that hard to comfort either, and with her shirt lifted and his mouth latched onto her breast, the cries stopped. “Now if only that’d work on you,” Allison teased weakly as she looked up at Stiles.
Stiles laughed and sat down as well, "You're forgetting the times I've come home stressed from work and just sat down and put my head on your boobs," he replied wryly, "I'm pretty shallow a lot of the time." Stiles looked down at Charlie in Allison's arms and smiled, "God, eighteen year old me would not have bet on any of this," he said quietly. One of his hand stroked Charlie's tiny little head as he spoke.
