Reminder that BMI was made by a mathematician who did some weird ass stats to get the distribution we use to judge weights. He wasn’t a doctor or biologist. Don’t even use that to judge shit.

I just read the notes on this post haha. BMI ignores muscle vs fat, height/stature differences, variation in physical characteristics...it was based on white bodies from the 1800s. The BMI threshold for obese/overweight have been changed several times since this came about...the cutoffs have not been consistent across even the last decade. Your doctor will even tell you to not go off of these numbers. Scientists today will also tell you it’s bullshit. Several studies (2005, 2010, 2016) in the Journal of the American Medical Association have discredited the link between BMIs and assessing health.

If you feel comfortable judging your health status based on a number a white mathematician came up with in the 1800s, then go for it bitch. The same people who jizz over bmi numbers are also the smarties who think cismen’s shoe sizes correlate to penis size ;-)
