   Glancing up at the sound of footsteps, Shizuo couldnât help but cringeâa muscled raven-haired male was approaching him with a false smile pulling at his lips. Dammitâthe blond had really hoped the guy just wouldnât show up⌠But as Shizuo shoved himself to his feet and caught the fellow studentâs hand to shake it, he realized that his instructor really did look professional⌠Though the blond only had the guyâs muscles to judge on, he also seemed at ease by the pool in a way that Shizuo wasnât. The blond half-wondered if this guyâYamazaki Sousukeâwas capable of beating the students swimming in the far-off lanes.
   âAh⌠Itâs good to know ya, Yamazaki-kuââŚâ Voice trailing off, the blond realized that different formalities applied here due to the hierarchy of instructor and student, and he awkwardly cleared his throat before adding: ââsan.â Lifting a hand to run through his hair, golden hues briefly flickered over the pool before coming back to meet his instructorâs teal-colored gaze. The guy was almost as tall as Shizuo, a new experience for the college student, and he found it interesting to not have to tilt his neck down to look at the guy.
   âIâm just gonna tell ya now since itâs like a damn elephant in the room⌠But Iâm not really into sports. Never was good at âem in grade school due to⌠Complications⌠TUâs requiring that I participate in a sporting activity, though, soâŚâ Frowning, Shizuo stared down at his feet for a momentâand then he did something completely out of character.
   Bending at the waist, the blond bowed in front of Sousuke, showing his instructor the respect he deserved.
   âPlease teach me as well as you can,â he uttered quickly, an embarrassed blush coloring his cheeks.
[â]â For a brief moment, Sousuke felt his lips twitch. He would do whatever it took to remain optimistic about the coming year, and he was sure that he was overreacting. His charge had even offered a bow. This took the whale shark by surprise, his cyan widening at the gesture.
âPlease, Shizuo-san, thereâs no need for such formalities,â he reassured sincerely. âThe circumstances of why youâre taking the class donât make much of a difference to me. Iâm sure weâll enjoy ourselves whatever the case.â
In all honesty, the slightly shorter of the two found the blondâs actions to be quite endearing. The pink that filled Shizuoâs complexion brought about a smile. This man was just as terrified as he was, Sousuke figured. It wasnât as if he was out to get the swimmer or anything, anyways. He was just a student in a piss-poor situation, not all that unlike his instructor.
âI give you my word that Iâll do my best.â
Sousuke reached out to clap the other on the shoulder and motioned for him to follow. Their lesson for the day would just be a pre-assessment of sorts for Sousuke to evaluate Shizuoâs skills and how their training should move forward.
