Idk about the rest of you, but next semester really makes me think of Fake You Out, something about the road and headlights and overall (non lore related) theme to the lyrics
i love it bc that’s what the lore is really about, it’s a metaphor for depression and i just 😩😭
look what i found at a local record store yesterday!!!
stop i would sob so hard if i came across that in person 😭😭 i would give anything for them to sell their old vinyls again

my favorites have to be tangles and things with a spiky texture
when i was a kid i used to think that objects that had several words as their name, or that people commonly refer to with several words (e.g. chest of drawers, diluting juice, glass of milk, cup of tea) were just one long word.
my brain didn't separate them. i was a teenager when i understood that "ches-a-draws" was "chest of drawers" because it's a chest with drawers in it.
or that "cuppa-tea" didn't just refer to have a drink in a mug. i used to say "cuppa-tea-coffee" because i didn't understand that you could also say "cup of coffee" and "cup of tea" separately.
also in my mind "diluting juice" was one word, "dilut-n-juice". only a few years ago i read it written down for the first time and realised that it's called that because you dilute it in water! makes so much sense!
i did a similar thing as a kid when i sang the alphabet song where i thought the letters L M N O were one word pronounced “elleminno”
i never made the connection between this song and the letters i already knew and was able to identify, my parents had to explain this directly
Hello, I would like to ask why so many autistic children become so attached to screen time. I know the formal reason, I am also aware that all people can become attached to television, video games, or a tablet. I suppose my question is how do you engage an autistic child when they only want to watch tv, play video games, or play on a tablet? They do not care about toys, books, or anything else other than jumping. How do I become part of their word if they don't want to be bothered?
It’s always difficult to provide good advice based on the amount of information that will fit in a tumblr ask, so my response will be fairly general, but I hope still useful to you.
It sounds like you’re feeling a lot of pressure to engage with your child in the perceived “right” way. I think that’s the crux of the issue here.
When we say that parents can and should become a part of their children’s world, that statement should be taken at face value. It doesn’t mean, “craft a perfect, Today’s Parent-approved world around your child.”
Your child’s world is currently watching television, playing video games, and using a tablet. Quality children’s programming teaches story structure, facilitates echolalia and language development, and models friendship and how to navigate social situations. Playing video games develops hand-eye coordination, teaches problem solving, and builds confidence. A tablet is exactly what you make of it and the apps you put on it.
It also sounds like you are feeling resentment, which is neither productive nor necessary. That’s on you. As a parent, your job is to support and love your child. That means that you need to manage your emotions. Journalling, therapy, and self-care are ways to do that.
Now, instead of thinking of screen time as inherently bad and toys and books as good, consider what ways you could meet your child where they are at and use their interests to facilitate learning. Try offering different kinds of apps: there are apps that teach music, drawing apps, apps to make simple animations, apps that allow you to track the flight of airplanes, apps that show you the stars above you right now. There are apps that even read children’s books and allow kids to read along.
Keep offering new things, and see what interests take hold. Always have captions on, so that television time is also teaching literacy. Provide video games in different genres and using different mechanics. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box or feel constrained by what is typical or arbitrarily “age appropriate” when it comes to interesting or educational apps, games, etc.
Play video games with your child. Ask them about their favourite apps. Discuss the plot and themes of the television shows they watch, and try “writing” an episode of their favourite show together. Jump together. Talk about how and why jumping feels good to their body. Talk about why they like what they like. Keep engaged.
And most importantly, remember that there is no right or wrong way to have a childhood, and that the problem is not that your child “doesn’t want to be bothered.” They are not trying to frustrate or disappoint you. The problem is that you are clinging onto expectations.
Let go and just meet them where they are. It takes more thought, more intention, and more care, but it will be a lot more fun and bring you closer.

On an everyday basis I have 1 backpack and 2 fanny packs I wear on my body.
I wear fanny packs for trinkets, money, writing notes, eye drops, pocket magnifying glass, forging pocket knife, tweezers, lighters, chapstick, a mask, hand sanitizer spray, extra marker, bobby pins, and peppermint oil.
In my backpack I carry books, headphones/earplugs, stationary pencil bag, stim puzzles/toys, extra makeup, THC gummies, cards, matches, AirPods, cigarettes, binoculars, sticky notes, and a portable pee funnel, Advil, Tums, and Dramamine
But I also carry a single backpack in the car for emergencies; stuck in traffic, shit my pants, need to change clothes. The contents of my bag are baby wipes, a pair of socks, a pair of underwear, a bandana, pants, a shirt, a hand fan, Clorox wipes, and a make up bag with; athletic tape, bandaids, vapor rub, tiger balm, and CBD oil. Also I carry my charger sometimes.
I also have applesauce and small pringles cans for homeless people and for myself.
I NEVER go without these 2 bags and 2 fanny packs EVER
Recently, I was stuck in the car due to a flat tire. I hadn’t showered all day, I had been to literally 6 different spots and I spent a total of 7 hours in the car, alone, driving. I had too many interactions with people over the past few days and that day with no spoons left in me. I had a meltdown when we pulled to the apartment because the apartment keys were left at the last spot we were (which was 15 minutes back) I was livid and scream cried. I sat in the back of the car and tried to calm myself down, we were almost back to the apartment, then we got a flat tire. It popped and it scared the fucking life out of my already high-stress-alerted body and I had another full blown meltdown. I was screaming and inconsolable and frankly losing my fucking mind. I was thrashing my body and screaming with hot tears running down my face, pulling my hair all while on the shoulder of the highway with cars and semis speeding past at 70 mph shaking the car.
If it wasn’t for the bags I always keep on me I wouldn’t have made it out the way I did. After I had calmed down just enough I sat with my headache. I took an advil down with some applesauce, I peed using my portable pee funnel into my reusable pint water bottle, I wiped myself everywhere using baby wipes, I changed out of my sweaty underwear and socks, and changed out of my clothes completely. I put my headphones on and turned on some brown noise. I stuffed my clothes in a plastic bag from the car. I opened a book and looked at some pictures. I put eye drops in and put on my coat. After about an hour I was fine enough to go outside and help my partner with the flat tire.
If you are neurodivergent or are Autistic please please please take my tips and carry a change of clothes, baby wipes, and things you might ever need with you. Accommodate for yourself. You never know when you will actually need it. This isn’t to scare you, you can’t prevent life from happening but you can help yourself.
I’m not feeling good so the whole gang is here ❤️
[image description: sixteen Disney Tsum Tsum mini plush, twelve displayed in a white rectangular plastic basket turned shelf by positioning it upwards on its side, four resting on the top edge of the basket. Top row: Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Mufasa, Simba. Second row: Tigger, Eeyore, Timon, Pumbaa. Third row: three-eyed alien from Toy Story, Lotso, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse. Bottom row: Stitch, Bambi, Dumbo, Donald Duck. Behind the plush Tsum Tusms sit two bath ducks, one with a blue pirate hat, and two fashion dolls.]
I want to talk Disney Tsum Tsum mini plushies in being accessible, relatively affordable, easily transportable stim toys, especially for texture seekers like myself. I don’t have any of the fancy or exclusive ones; these were all bought from my local Target. Tigger, Piglet, Bambi and Stitch are priced regularly at $3 AUD; the others are priced regularly at $6 AUD. However, since Target has had regular 40% and 50% off sales over the last few months, I’ve never paid more than $4 AUD for a mini Tsum Tsum (and often far less).
(I tried looking at Target online, but they only have listings for medium and large plush Tsum Tsums. Still very stimmy, but less portable.)
Plush Tsum Tsums are so nice to touch. They’re made from a very soft felt-like plush fabric with a layer of faux-suede underneath with embroidered features on face and body. They also have fake fur, bows, layers of fabric and other additions to create the character’s appearance or costume, meaning there’s often a lot of different textures to make fingertips or lips happy - unlike most small soft toys/plushies. In addition, they’re partially stuffed with plastic pellets as well as polyester stuffing, making them squishable and crunchable. I have one in every bag I own, one on my desk and a rather battered Simba floating around my room because, for some reason, his fabric is the softest.
If you fidget with them a lot, the plush will wear a little and take on a faded, slightly matted quality. The edges of ears tend to wear a lot - they don’t unravel, but they do fray. I’ve got doubles of a couple so I can fidget with those without worrying about ruining them, and my Mickey is looking quite well loved.
They’re not going to be the kind of stim toy you can take out in a waiting room - not like a Tangle or stress ball - but they’re great to have in my hand when I’m reading, watching TV or even working online. As they’re collectibles (if you want to appear a little more adult, go for the Star Wars ones) even having one on your desk shouldn’t draw too much attention. The retail workers at Target just ask me about my collection!
As long as you don’t pay full price for them - because $6 AUD for a toy about as long as my fingers is a bit expensive for me, even if they’re really well made - I consider them to be fabulous stim toys.
(If you end up with enough to stack, though, I’d recommend using a side-turned basket or box as a shelf: when I had them stacked without the basket, they kept falling off. Slotted into the basket, they stay put no matter how much I bump the box underneath.)
[Image description: a photo of, from left to right, a pink chewable annular pendant from stimtastic, a small orange turtle plush, a purple and pink chewy gem beads necklace from stimtastic, a pink and white knock-off fidget cube, and a big gray rabbit plush, all on light purple bed sheets.]
My stim toy collection for @stimtastic‘s giveaway! I don’t have a lot, but I love them all. My annular pendant is still intact, unlike my poor gem beads that I bit through a few months ago. The fidget cube is great, even if it isn’t the original! And both the bunny’s feet and the turtle are full of beads that are very crunchy and nice to move around.
Current squishy collection!
Minus the cake of fingers and bugs cause I dont wanna make anyone uncomfortable
