Parents ran out of fairytales when I was six, decided to tell me a child-friendly version of the Odyssey. I liked it a tad more than what they expected.

what is your LEAST favorite stitch?
I don't like counted work at fucking all. So: the cross stitch.
reading this as someone who does cross stitch but is scared of the other kinds of embroidery is like overhearing an incredibly tall and buff person say they have beef with Mr. Tom, the kitten that chills at the bookstore
FUCK Mr. Tom and his stupid little fluffy tail ok. And his little charted designs.
Okay, but this neglects the true villain of embroidery stitches: the French knot
Don't you dare malign my girl again
Ok the french knot is very useful but it is a BITCH to do it consistently
We talk about how this website’s hate mail game is insane, but this might just be a new level
if you ever find yourself thinking “wow I scraped the bottom of the barrel with my energy with that and came out okay!” that’s the devil talking. you did not come out okay. you borrowed energy from the future. you will repay it if you don’t rest and replenish the borrowed energy first.
this one took off quickly - are you guys ok

“the arts and sciences are completely separate fields that should be pitted against each other” the overlap of the arts and sciences make up our entire perceivable reality they r fucking on the couch
Art vs STEM is a lie created to stop us from turning on the real enemy: business and economics
Arts vs STEM is a lie, the computer that put us on the moon was a loom of woven wires, our space suits were made by hand sewing, we need chemistry to mix paint and we need biology to raise the sheep who make the wool we spin into yarn and crochet or knit or weave and the world is beautiful

Husband: hey you've been yelling at the kids a lot lately.
Me with a raging ear infection, has been in a constant meltdown since 2024: yes. And?
Husband: do you think you could chill a little?
Me: do you think you could shove your VR headset up your ass?
”pdf file” “unalived” “grape” “corn” what if i killed myself right here right now
imagine you read the local newspaper and in the section where they discuss a recent murder they describe it as “young adult unalived by serial game ender”. like you’re a toddler surrounded by adults who need to watch their language around you. you’re sanitizing and cutting down gruesome, horrific actions and situations into digestible baby words. i know this has been said before by other people but i’m so so sick of it dude, don’t speak advertiser language to me.
it's often the fault of the censors, though. like. yes, we should be able to use the actual words for things. but I say "non-trans" on Twitter because for a while saying "cis" was an automatic TOS violation. maybe it still is, idk, I stopped using it! but only there.
if you use these words because you don't have a choice because your social media app doesn't allow the actual words, that's their fault. if you still use these words away from the app... stop it.
it's important to be able to say the name of a thing. especially when people on Tumblr, for example, have words like "rape" and "suicide" blacklisted and don't want to see content about them. are they supposed to also block "grape" now?
Get yourself a fabric store that will light your fabric on fire for you
No but legit I asked what the fiber content of something was and the guy didn’t know so he cut a chunk off and lit it on fire and felt the ashes and was like. Yeah this is mostly cotton with a lil bit of silk. And that was the moment I knew. This is it. This is the fabric store for me. Also that guy is marriage material. Not for me but damn some person is gonna be so happy with him.
Ok but this is actually one of the easiest ways to tell what something is made of! I did a textiles degree and one day as part of a class we all went outside with a pile of scrap fabric and set fire to the little pieces and recorded how they burned. We were given a chart that looked something like this to tell what each fabric was (it gets a little tricky is it’s a mix of fabrics though). Why did we do this? There is very little regulation in the textiles industry so a lot of materials are mislabelled as something they aren’t and sold for more than they should be, also sometimes people buy fabric second hand or discounted which doesn’t have any label at all. If you have a fabric you are having doubts about, cut a tiny piece off and do the burn test and you should know pretty fast what you are dealing with. Anyways your fabric store should be lighting things on fire because this means that they are actually checking what the fabrics are and aren’t trying to pass cheap stuff off as more expensive than it is.
Ooh! I knew it was a standard test but I hadn’t seen a chart as detailed as this thank you!
So last week I had my period and covid. Felt like death for a few days. Thought it was weird I had nausea and smell sensitivity.
Then I recovered. My period ended and... I'm still nauseous and gagging at bad smells. Like other people's pee in the bathroom (fantastic when you have a toilet training toddler), last night's dinner remnants in the pot, standing in the kitchen too long near the bins...
Maybe I should test just in case, I have a few dip tests laying around that are still in date. I have only seen a line that faint during my ectopic. I just had my period which means I would have to be 5-6 weeks for it to be real and that should be way darker, am I too hydrated? It could be a dye bleed? My Implanon is due to be changed next month. And it's school holidays so I can't exactly run to my doctor in a panic or buy frers without the kids noticing.
So yeah I'll be over here panicking over a tiny amount of pink dye.
